  1. Got bored last weekend so ended up polishing a spare throttle body and re working the throttle linkage to tidy up the flipped inlet some more . after the last mapping session I was left with a misfire if the boost was pushed over 1.1 bar due to the ageing classic coilpacks . I'd fitted some new plugs and did a newage coilpack conversion upped the boost to 1.3 on the apexi hand controller .... no misfire [emoji41] Went to attowes today and the mapping jinx continues [emoji19] although the tdo5 now makes 1.4 bar under 4 k it wouldn't hold high boost later in the rev range [emoji57] End result 330hp 320 ftlbs it pulls cleaner as I've gained 60 ftlbs at 4 k but the it seems like either the engines being strangled (intake filter can't filter enough air ) Or the turbo/actuator is on it's way out (won't hold boost higher in the rev range) Ordered one of these so I can fit the massive k&n I had on the v3 and switch it for the antique apexi super intake Failing that I've told the mrs I need a bigger turbo [emoji5]
  2. Hi n welcome . Lovely clean p1 you've got their bud [emoji106] Looks like you're dad looked after it [emoji4]
  3. Hi n welcome Looks like you've well and truly put your mark on the wagon , nice work [emoji106]
  4. Does the car idle and drive off boost ok ? (If so maf seems unlikely) Have you done a classic self code check ? Try turning the boost controller down and see if it still cuts out when you give it some beans
  5. Hi n welcome to soc Seem to have quite a few clean early classics on here now and i quite like the black n silver myself [emoji4]
  6. My classic runs fine without the purge valve attached as when I did a charcoal canister delete I removed it without any issues[emoji6]
  7. Today I be mostly ..... Prepping a modified shorter throttle linkage but did get a bit side tracked with the dremmel and autosol as well [emoji4] End result
  8. Crank or cam sensor and the wiring/plugs to them is a good call as it will turn over but cut the fuel so it won't start [emoji6]
  9. Cheers chap[emoji106] I'll chuck some pics on another thread for you all to have a play with. feel free anybody else to have a go as my pc knowledge can be wrote on the back of a stamp[emoji55]
  10. 2 door newage has been done before but those deep dish wheels just set it off a treat . Pic quality is !Removed! as I had to zoom in on my phone due to the originals size. talking about photo shop I want to change my rim colour and can't make up my mind , so might chuck up some pics if someone can have a go for me [emoji6]
  11. Been working today so haven't had chance to do anything to the scoob [emoji19] Did spot this pic on f.b didn't know where to post it but had to share it as I think it's the best newage I've ever seen[emoji7]
  12. I went for the rcm fuel pump . what about a 3 port boost solenoid to give the mapper better control over the boost . if yours is pre 97, a later (97 onwards) 1.7 bar map sensor as the early one's are only good for 1.2 bar Probably pick up both for £60 second hand and they only take 5 mins to fit on the day of the remap [emoji6]
  13. The saxo looks like you spent some time and effort on it, nice work Only french motor I've owned was gt turbo about 15yrs ago . Have you tried specialist insurers Adrian flux , keith Michaels ect . If you don't do many miles a "limited mileage" policy . Putting your mrs or mum on the policy sometimes helps . Once you get past the terminology scoobys are quite ingeniously designed and fairly easy to work on
  14. Hi and welcome to soc sam , looks like a nice clean example [emoji106]
  15. I'm unsure how to tell by looking at them tbh . I've only ever had the longer 3.5.4 uk ratio diffs . Maybe sombody else will know if there's any markings on the outter casings saying what ratio and type of diff they are
  16. Hi n welcome to soc easiest way to post pics Is to use tapa talk app . Otherwise you'll have to upload them to a image hosting site (photo bucket) and then copy and paste the img code on to here . As for the ppp ecu I think they run slightly more power 260 ish but don't quote me on that . Matt will probably know as I think he's got a ppp ecu for sale
  17. Just google the gearbox "ty......" number of the white sticker near the starter motor and find the ratio . On classics if you have single pot rear calipers as standard the diff type will be R160 If you have 2pot rear calipers as standard your diff type will be R180 My bet for a early wrx would be shorter jdm ratio with a R160 type diff [emoji6]
  18. Your link doesn't work for me fella They do come in a few different sizes depending on manufacturer . I ran a k&n oil filter on my classics for a while (which was massive) but now use mahle oil filters (much shorter &cheaper) from opie oils. No difference in oil pressure or temperature according to my gauges
  19. Nice pics bud I've always wondered if the coolant pipes that run over the air box warmed the intake air . by the look of the first pic they do ,As they're seems to be a area of red near the maf
  20. A pic would be ideal as there's quite a few pipes on the inlet . I haven't got many of a standard phase 1 inlet but Can you see it in either of these pics .
  21. Try cornering with the clutch dipped or in neutral with someone sat in the back to determine what side the noise is coming from. If the noise gets louder when turning just right and it comes from the passenger side rear it might be the wheelbearing
  22. If it did have a leak replacing it might resolve your other issues
  23. At least you know the arbs are the same . I was going to suggest to buy some clean second hand foz ones and strengthen them with a welded in fish plate/brace
  24. Are the arbs the same length/ shape (just thicker dia) ?
  25. Nice to hear your feeling a bit better bud . Nice set up for sale as well [emoji7] good for 500 hp + so shouldn't hang around [emoji5]
