Probably the same question all over and over again...
savage bulldogs replied to Martin959's topic in General Subaru Chat
It's just the drilled suround around the entry to the turbo ( anti surge) . It makes the need for a bigger dia intake pipe. I think they sell 3 " intake pipes , but you might need to fit a catch can due to them not having as many breather take offs as the oe size ones [emoji6] I was gonna drop them a email and get them to build one that suits my needs , but I can't afford it at the moment [emoji19] Mabye a tdo5 18g , with a 7 cm hotside (like the oe tdo5 16g) with a billet wheel and upgraded journal bearing for a 2ltr fast road car with standard internals . I'd have thought that with the right upipe, that would spool nicely and hit 350 + hp . [emoji16][emoji33][emoji12] -
Don't think there's a great deal of difference between 2ltr & 2.5 as the 2ltr heads will fit on the 2.5 short block . also people use the 2.5 crank in a 2ltr block to increase the displacement to get a 2.1 (stroker) engine . I've never heard a 2.5 running myself so there might be a audible difference , but I have heard a newage jdm sti with equal length headers and it sounded like a straight line 4 engine

I've been thinking about fitting a kinugawa turbo as they're made by kamak (they make the mitsi td series from new) With that particular one you'd need to change the intake pipe as well cos the turbos got a 3" entry cover -
I do know that some jdm newage scoobs have equal length exhaust manifolds (which means you loose the burble) but I couldn't tell you what excat year's had them . One of the newage owners might know though . If that is the case and yours has got equal length exhaust manifold you can fit a unequal manifold to get burble back in your life

My v dub bud has got a rotrex supercharger kit sitting in his shed and we offered it up where the A.C should be [emoji4] Looks like a fairly easy mod to fit it for instant power [emoji12] but, it only pushes 1 bar max [emoji19] -

Received the card and mufflebox voucher but, no stickers .I think that stickers were included in the £15 subscription ? Did get a covering letter saying that those who ordered T shirts would receive them separately so don't panic [emoji6] -

Direct center control deferential allows you to control the power from front to back , but you have to fit its separate ecu , clocks, wiring and controller . Sti ra's have been around since 95 so it depends on the age and condition of the box . I turned my 5 speed into a 4 speed @ 3k running 330hp , but if your current box is knackered £400 fitted is a great price -

It will be a short ratio jdm box and if it's a late gc8 sti might even have dccd . But it will only be good for the 350 hp mark . If you google your ty52... code on your existing gearbox you might find that it's the same ratio as your existing box and not have to change the diff . Unless you want to upgrade the shafts and hubs to the r180 later gc8 set up tbo I recon you'd be better off with a 5 speed bugeye box as they're known to handle slightly more power (390 hp ish ) and cost a 3rd of a 6 speed . -

I have thought about rigging something from the aircon to cool a tmic [emoji6] i went fmic recently and haven't got A.C on my uk turbo anyways . But hey with all that extra pipework I've even thought about running a supercharger to cut lag .....or spool a big turbo even quicker [emoji39] -

Depends on where abouts in Essex you are , but I've used clive attowes rolling road in Norwich quite a bit. I'm fairly sure there is a rr in essex but ,unsure exactly where tbo . -

I'm glad it's working out for you Alan [emoji41] And sorry if my previous post (prior to editing) seemed a bit scare mongering . as I've only seen 1 failure and that was done by a powder coating company that doesn't normally work with allys . there's plenty of companies that do powder coat allys to good effect [emoji6] -
I'd like to keep it plastic if pos , cos the hockey sticks, side skirts and wing mirrors aren't painted either . Just tried a few brands of "back 2 black" for exterior trim and nothing seems to last long ,on the splitters type of plastic , as it does on the rest
-
Looks sweet matt , loads different from when you first got it [emoji41] Nice seeing the progression.... And the big list of things to come [emoji6] did you spray the p1 splitter black ? As I haven't found a product that keeps my black plastic one looking nice for more than a week [emoji19]

Were the wheels powder coated ? As I've heard that the heat process during powder coating can cause warping or even failure (during track sessions). so the seller might have known and not sold them with the car . Hope you get it sorted , bud -

Straight swop if you find one with the same ratio as your existing rear diff ,you just need the 6 speed.... gearbox Prop Linkage/ gear stick It will mate up with the 5 speed clutch , flywheel and starter no problem [emoji6] -

That's what I did [emoji6] As I couldn't see the point paying the extra premium a sti commands and ruining a classic sti , when I wanted to build a forged engine and fit a 6 speed eventually . If your aiming for over 350 hp you have to upgrade the classic drive train turbo , injectors and engine internals (to keep it reliable). Newage is different story as the jdm sti bottom end will cope with 450 hp and the oe 6 speed will handle more than that .so just injector , turbo and cooling mods needed to break the 400 hp barrier [emoji6] -

Generally uk turbo's and wrxs are the same (bar trim and jdm have short ratio gearboxes) Main advantages of buying a classic sti over a wrx or uk turbo are that the sti's have ... Bigger turbos/ injectors Forged pistons (good for 380 hp ish) Better handling (30 mm lower with sports shocks) Better trim /seats . With just a decat , filter and remap you'd expect 290 ish from a good wrx . With same mods on a sti your see more like 330 hp . Due to internals , cams , turbo and injectors . -
Here you go fella Mobile Mechanic, Tim Farmer (Ex Zen Performance). Good guy and cheap He is based in Cambridgeshire but will travel (Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex etc) 07880661866 __________________

I'm quite often near north east essex coast in my silver classic, I'll keep a eye out and give you the [emoji106] if you burble past . Couldn't recommend anyone from experience myself for the work but ,quite a few people I know use "Tim farmer " give him a google [emoji6] He's ex zen performance based in Cambridge but he's mobile and might be able to help . maybe book it in somwhere for a minor service (plugs , oil n filters) and get them to check it over [emoji6]

Don't know how expensive that is to modify things to make it fit tbo but , I assume it will reduce heat stress on the turbo. Not too sure if it would help the headers or upipe as there pre turbo . Unfortunately it wouldn't make a difference to the added strain on the standard wrx drivetrain /clutch In saying that if it was a easy "switch on switch off" addition to the esl software I'd probably have it fitted , because quite a few people run it and I never have . But I'm running a cheap tdo5 ,standard ported cast iron headers and a slip jointed upipe . which are on the (never ending ) list to be replaced [emoji5]

Replaced the turbo outlet studs and fitted a new gasket, did take me a hour to remove one of the stubborn studs [emoji36] At least it Now sounds much better as the old gasket was " blowing like a 2 $ hoe " [emoji4] -
Nice clean looking early classic you've got there fella [emoji106]
