V7 wrx sti type uk engine refresh
Bit more done today , still got a way to go but i feel like I'm getting somewhere now [emoji41] Wiped the block half mating surfaces free from oil , added the new o rings and used liquid three bond gasket sealer before torque'ing the block bolts down . Fitted the other 2 pistons via the access bungs ,with new wrist pin clips and bung gaskets , followed by the oil separator plate. The uprated Graham goode oil pump has only done 800miles but due to the old crank rumble i stripped the pump , put it through the engineers hot wash and reassembled it with graphogen builders paste . to insure there wasn't any debris in it to contaminate the oilways before fitting that and the water pump . Bottom water pipe fitted and (hot washed ) oil cooler fitted .

V7 wrx sti type uk engine refresh
Made a fair bit of progress today , finished off fitting the valves into both heads . Then although I'm fitting a new crank and king race bearings i plastigauged all the crank bearings . Which turned out to be pointless as all the oil clearances were spot on but assumption can lead to fook ups and i feel better knowing its right . Gapped the new rings to smack bang in the middle of subaru factory tollerances , smeared graphogen builders paste over cylinder walls and bearings .then fitted 2 pistons and rods to 1 bank , to save using the piston wrist pin access holes to fit the new pin clips

That wasn't too bad , both heads done , crank plastigauged, rings gapped and block halves are ready to go together [emoji41] Missed the sun this afternoon but at least the beer is cold now [emoji4]

Being self employed it's normally, upsetting when somebody else's lack of organisation means you have to go home because a jobs not ready when you turn up [emoji53] But hey their fook up is my gain today and i guess I'd better do something constructive with my day off [emoji4]

Blobeye sti brake setup
I'm really chuffed with the dba t2 discs and carbon metalic pfc pads from Alyn at asperformance, by far the best combo I've had in my brembos for fast road use . I'm sure if you give Alyn at asperformance a bell, he'd be able to suggest a combo that suits your needs and budget [emoji6]

Running Problems
If it's only a little bit of oil in the y pipe, yes thats normal. Couldn't tell you if a hawk has a icv and tbh i haven't even checked if the bug I've got in bits has 1 either [emoji4] Doubt its a sparking issue , as it's fine at wot /full boost but maf or 02 sensor and anything airflow wise . Ie vac or intake pipework leak , clogged airfilter . How long has it been mapped ? As a recent change in air temp might affect the cold start enrichment /idle / map in general , if it was recently mapped in cold weather

Running Problems
Pcv valve blocked? You'd probably see oil in the tmic or y pipe if so , might be worth checking . Or idle control valve might need a clean , for the cost of a icv gasket it might be worth a go

Fingers crossed she'll be back

V7 wrx sti type uk engine refresh
Ok ,so having over 700hp's worth of subarus and having to drive my daughter's 1.3 k.a [emoji850] is not only ironic but it's starting to get on my nerves [emoji849] So hopefully this build will start to pick up momentum now [emoji6] with upgrading the bearings to king race spec, the headgaskets to cossie stopper headgaskets and having the heads pressure checked , skimmed , valves recut and renewing the stem seals . The build budget has grown a bit now but hey "build right , build once [emoji6] ...... but the cam covers were too manky [emoji849] So i Decided to get the cam covers blasted to try and keep things clean but oe [emoji4] Made a start on rebuilding the avcs heads this week and will have them finished by friday evening. With the intention of starting to build the bottom end over the weekend [emoji41] Halfway through pic of me refitting the recut and lapped in valves , new stem seals, springs and collets . Might not update this thread too much over the weekend but I'll be making progress and taking pics , for when i get chance to [emoji6]

Cambridge Subaru Specialist
Think Tim farmer's company name is subbrus , i just had a quick google and had a few threads pop up but no contact number . I would say id do it for you but I'm based in ipswich and have far too much scooby stuff to do to my own scoobies atm . As far as i know tim will fit your parts or supply them for you . Try a google first and if you don't have any luck I'll chuck a post on my local forum "scooby city" , as a few on there have used him before [emoji106]

Cambridge Subaru Specialist
I know a few people that use tim farmer in suffolk , norfolk and cambridge . He's a mobile subaru mechanic that comes to you . Might be worth a google . What is it you need doing ?

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
David looks like I'll be cracking on with the bug now , cos i can't live without burble n boost for too long lol . So seeing as a few of the core members are asking about gauges , i'll do a little how 2 fitting the prosport halo gauges into a newage . As I've already decided that the v1sti is gonna be back bigger n better than before [emoji4] so the bug sti's old defis will go into the v1sti and new prosports into the bug sti

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Yeah me and my daughter's are feeling a bit stiff from the side impact , the v1sti's looking worse than it is . Don't think they'll write it off due to the £7k agreed value . 3 of the rotas are fubar'd passenger side wing , front door , rear door and a slight dent in the outter sill . Managed to get a mate with a recovery truck but it was too low to get on , so pumped the 2 flat tyres up and drove it the 2 miles home . Nothing seems bent as it drove fine . 5 polish lads in a honda estate just decided that they would change lanes in a 30 limit without checking over their shoulder and side swiped me [emoji34] Few pics of the damage , i'll get some better ones in the daylight

Engine using a tiny amount of coolant
Black with white stripe was definitely common earth , ive only got 1 pic on my phone and im going out for a few beers ,so you wont get any usefull info outta me later lol . You could have a trawl through my classic build thread and follow the fubar'd photo bucket link on the bit about coilpack conversions. My pics might show the wire colours [emoji6] Otherwise pm me after 11am tomorrow and i should be sober enough to have a squint at mine [emoji106]

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
I know my way round a engine and have recently learnt a fair bit about classic electrics chasing my v1's gremlins . But gauges are fairly simple if you get the right subaru fitment "bungs " for oil temp n pressure. I'd say it was about 2hrs work when you've done it before . Shame your so far away from suffolk id have glady done it .... Well once the bugs running again . I just liked the idea of my old skool apexi f.c hand controller logging peak values after a pull , although my mapper has set the eml to flash (for knock , egt , airflow and temp ) warning levels , which is a good visual warning on the dash [emoji41] I'd like a audio / visual warning as soon as posible, rather than looking at peak values after the event . Hopefully avoiding too much damage if something fails [emoji6]

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Remote is to set colour , brightness , peak warnings and colours . Apparently the "halo ring " lights up when you hit the peak / minimum limits . Which will be a refreshing change from my "ring " nipping when something goes wrong [emoji4]

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Mrs was supposed to be having a operation yesterday , so i spent most of the day sat in a nhs chair at the hospital. After 5 hrs i got really bored watching the mrs sleep and accidentally bought a set of 3x prosport wrc halo gauges , to cheer her up after the op ...... . Only to find out her op was cancelled and we got sent home 10 mins after said purchase [emoji849] They're not hear yet but for £200 they look a decent bit of kit from "little devil gauges" [emoji41] All I've gotta do now is tell the wife and hope im not the one gonna be needing a hospital appointment 🤣[emoji23]
