I've had a mk1.5 ST170 nice car liked it but I had to choose a car to sell as you can guess the st170 was sold. unless you can't get on with the scoob or the maintenance is maybe a bit to offten for your liking I don't think it would be a good choice not easy car's to replace the scoob. Especially if yours is in as good a condition as what you have said.

Oh not a great start :( did you get it from a dealer I'd be on the phone to them ? I'd try clear the codes if you can 1st see if it comes back. Possible courses 1)Incorrect camshaft timing 2)Wiring problems (harness/wiring) in intake timing control valve control solenoid system 3)Continuous oil flow to VCT piston chamber 4)Failed timing valve control solenoid (stuck open)

I'd say it will be the lower graded they can get away with too there standards. I'd be tempted to see if they're willing to lower the cost if you supply. Or ask exactly what oil's they use.

I've not heard that before only thing I know is maintaining high speed for long period of time would soon destroy the engine. Say flat out on a a long straight for a few minute's wouldn't be good.

I think it's just to do with the cold withe engines getting so hot when running then getting cold being stud about.
