The boot trim that protects the paint to the top of the bumper is a must. I have stoneguard on the bonnet which changes the face of the car nicely. Most of the other trim stuff is just guff though. Some say they window trims are nice. Blacking the chrome which cost me a tenner was about the best cosmetic mod I did. And a couple of stick on vinyl badges finished it off. just got to go with what takes your fancy really. Anyway this is mine. Too pocture is before it was dechromed.

No but I had some very light corrosion appear under the bonnet and Subaru just picked up the tab fine. It was where they'd pushed the rubber stops for the bonnet in, obviously damaged the paint. No quibbles from them at all

Vehicle Dynamics Control System Needs to be checked?
Dogconker replied to Swayze88's topic in Subaru XV Club
I think it's just a bug, the issue with the central locking we had in both cars, the one we sold on so don't know what happened to that one, but mine they said needed a full new door mechanism to resolve. Now general stuff like that was out of warranty yet Subaru, as a gesture of good will sorted it as a warranty repair, suggesting that it was a known fault. generally the faults once cleared are gone fir a considerable time, but they can come back from time to time and require yet another reset. -
Mine is going in for its 60k service which is also its fifth, its a diesel version and it's costing me £247 all in, it's not that expensive to be fair, cheaper than my Honda Civic was. And that is at a Subaru dealer.

It makes reference to a new direct injection diesel which is a complete new engine, 7kg lighter than the old one and 156ps rather than the current 148. More fuel efficient, better acceleration so looking promising. x-mode arrives yes, but at what cost? There's a lot of extras popping into the new model and these can only push up the price range. We'll have to wait and see.

Yep, that looks proper dead 🤕

Have moved this into the forester pages as you'd posted in the XV section. Hope that's ok? DC

So here it is the 2nd generation Subaru XV due for release 2018. New Diesel Engine upper to 154bhp with more torque, same petrol engine. Will post up review shortly. https://paultan.org/2017/03/07/2018-subaru-xv-new-looks-better-dynamics-safety/

Good afternoon, I'm not sure this budget will be a significant issue but certainly future budgets may cause a problem. Most likely though they'll just come up with a "thing" that removes the sulphur dioxide from exhaust fumes, yet another thing in your exhaust to go wrong no doubt. ill just keep mine for a few more years I think, I do like the power you get from the diesel.
-
Wow! 14k repair, did a proper job on it then? I can see why you didn't go for the bit back option then. Well hopefully the new one will not suffer a similar fate. Its pretty easy to run up a steep bill to be fair. I had a Ford Ka run into the back of mine at about 35mph, only looked like it scuffed the bumper, but by the time they'd replacer the rear cross member and put a new exhaust back box on and bumper etc, bill came to £2800. Still at least I got to drive mine home, the girl that hit my car looked like she'd been through a scrapper, bonnet was half way up the windscreen and the doors stuck up above the roof. My wife was driving my car at the time so she just took details and left her by the roadside sorting recovery. Good luck with the new one, you'll have to pop a few photos up let us know what she looks like
-
Oh dear, you've not thought of buying your back and repairing it then?
-
Well this is what they have teased in advance if the Geneva motorshow. It's not the same shape as the concept in fact it's much more standard XV shaped, has some new flow lines along the side too I noticed. We'll know on the 7th March, the car they're showing at Geneva is the production model not a concept so it'll be what we're getting on the forecourt.
-
Yes if you're low mileage then the cheaper cost of the petrol over the diesel outweighs the fuel efficiency of the diesel. I think you have to do around 18k a year to offset the extra cost of buying a diesel over a petrol. I do about 20k so it's just about worth it, plus the diesel pulls like a train. 9 seconds to 60mph isn't bad for a big, heavy lump like the XV especially with only a 2.0l engine.

Had a large stone cone and hit my grille, damaged my vinyl coating on the chrome so today I'm respraying the grille. Good news is as it should, the old vinyl peeled off nice and easily and cleanly. Another couple of coats and I'll be ready to clear off the surplus and itll be job done.

Now I've driven several hybrid cars as variants of cars I had usually as courtesy cars. I've always had 2.0 or 2.2l diesels. In every case to date the hybrid has had very lacklustre performance and returned less mpg than the diesel. the only thing that is worth considering is the fact that the government, after spending 20 yrs telling people to buy diesels are now saying diesels are bad and we should buy petrols or hybrids so expect road and fuel tax to rise for diesel

Yeah I did a full write up on my XV a couple of years ago I can't see why they don't sell more, as for write ups I think there's some politics between the car mags and Subaru because Subaru don't do the big corporate events with free beer and food like all the others do and basically get a bad rap because if it. Anyway have a read of the write up and see what you think, and welcome to the XV pages. If you want to dechrome your XV there's also some info on it in these threads, lots of useful info to be fair.

Well I can pretty much guarantee the Mirror's won't be that small because I think there's a minimum for rear visibility. I like the look of it, I'm going to hang on to mine now until this new facelift is out. But we should know soon what it will look like.
-
That's a bit rubbish. Fortunately they're pretty good in a crash when you need protecting. Though that obviously doesn't necessarily prevent the car getting damaged.
-
Yes, seems more efficient and much quieter engine than mine. I'll hang on to mine until the new facelift model comes out. Looks quite smart I think

This is the new Subaru Crosstrek, XV may not exist soon. Due to be announced at the Geneva motor show 2017. Ignoring the colour, what are your thoughts?

Finally got tired of the error messages and the fact it had started making a funny noise. Wife's car has been problematic from day one so chopped it in for an identical one but a 66 plate. Hopefully she'll have a bit more luck with this one.

Dug, no need to dissappear, we'll still be here

Vehicle Dynamics Control System Needs to be checked?
Dogconker replied to Swayze88's topic in Subaru XV Club
We'll update on wife's car with this error messages, she's now getting them all the time, all three, dynamics, ABS and hill start, but it's got much worse. hill start assist no longer works, cruise control has stopped working, central locking doesn't always unlock the doors. this has to be a software issue, all these things should go wrong at once? -

My wife's car is doing this now. Mainly when she's in traffic and it's stop start. It's something to do with the hillstart assist, which is obviously very active in stop start traffic.
