  1. Yes, Subaru not the cheapest. Surprised the discs didn't last a bit longer, changed wife's pads at 50k discs were fine.
  2. How much did the front pads cost you?
  3. One of those occasions when I'm glad the wife is in a decent car with 4 wheel drive. As she was driving back through Stoke she got hit by the Tornado that was on the news today. 80mph winds out of nowhere. Luckily she had Dashcam running.
  4. Wife drove back through Stoke today in her XV, got caught by the tornado that has been on the news. Luckily had dashcam running. Video is 300mb so linked it on YouTube https://youtu.be/4EGmpuHf_I4
  5. To be honest I found that the standard Geolanders were fine in the snow (as long as you had good tread depth). I got caught in a severe snow storm a couple of years ago and we had 10" snow, had to drive back from Manchester and had no trouble, even on the steep hills everyone else was getting stuck on. Had a Porsche Cayenne follow me up one hill and he didn't make it, unless you're thinking of doing anything serious I wouldn't be too worried about the standard tyres.
  6. You'll have to let me know how you get on, I had the standard Geolanders on when there was some heavy snow round our way and I found them surprisingly sure footed (assuming you have good tread). We won't get the snow and I've down here you'll no doubt get so I reckon I'll be ok on the Geolanders. But be interesting to see if those are much better for when global warming stops the Gulf Stream and the apocalypse comes. [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think I'd email Subaru Uk ad check that before it causes you any warranty problems.
  8. I already have, but it wouldn't take them long to deternine if yours is coked. i run minevup the motorway once s week around 65mph in third for about 15mins to force s DPF regen, then I drive it back home like I stole it to blow it out make sure it's all clear, not had any trouble with mine and my wife's has been fine since she started doing the same.

I had my DPF light start flashing the other week, no apparent reason, took it to the dealer and they said it was because there has been 3 failed attempts at a regen, however this isn't your problem. Something that may interest you though I'd my wife's car had an issue after only 10k miles (the dealer had done 6k of them). The car would start to struggle with power as the turbo came in, and the power would continue to drop until you changed gear and throttled it. After multiple trips to the dealers mainly looking at the DPF, they had the car on and the engine out. The whole engine was coked up not only after the inlet but even before the inlet, took a week to clear the whole system out. Since it's been done we've had no issues, we never had an explaination as to why it occurred, there is some suggestion it's related to the glowplugs though. might be worth asking your dealer about potential coking up?

If they're a main dealer I'd contact Subaru because it may affect warranty and I'm pretty sure your dealer will say it wasn't them after the event. This is part of the fight im am having now with a dealers
  11. You'll probably need to get the light reset, or check it isn't anything sinister. After all, it may be a genuine indication. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. There's a known fault with the XV that the oil light gives false warnings sometimes our dealer told us about it. However, It's always worth assuming the worst, don't want to assume it's just a sensor only to find out your engine is at risk because it's something more serious. But my wife had the same thing. You can reset the oil light if it comes on which we did but ours didn't turn off, if it's oil pressure if it resets it'll come back on again, but ours was just a stubborn sensor. Worth getting it checked out though by the dealers.
  13. A slightly cheaper version which we've got as well as the Lintran crate is the Ruffwear seat cover/hammock. We use this with a bit of vet bed on it for comfort. Can still be used with seat belts etc, very good and folds away quite small. http://www.ruffwear.co.uk/dirt-bag
  14. There's a few things people do with manual gearboxes that they shouldn't do, sitting with your foot on the clutch pedal shouldnt affect the clutch life but will affect the thrust bearing as its this that is holding the clutch off. Also sitting with your hand on the gear lever will reduce the same bearing life. Doing things like rev matching, especially downshifting will reduce clutch wear significantly. I have always rev matched manual clutches and I've never had a car long enough to replace one yet.
  15. I thought the hill assist worked off the rear brakes rather than holding the clutch? Plus the hill start assist will only hold for a few seconds on the XV? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Fortnately in the deisel boxer you don't notice that power loss. 😉
  17. I can't say ive noticed any noise really, not more than any other car. But mine is a 2014 model so maybe that why? how much was the part anyway?
  18. You should get an update at every service. If not it would be worth speaking to your dealer who may (if they're nice) offer to check it for you
  19. However we ran both our systems regularly pretty much left them on auto yet both had the same seal go at the same age/mileage.
  20. Dogconker replied to Swayze88's topic in Subaru XV Club
Your MPG does seem a little low, I'm currently just doing 10miles a day in town driving (and a bit of putting my foot down) and I'm stil getting 44-45mpg, but my wife that is doing about 40 miles each day on a mix of roads including about 10miles on motorway is getting 48-50
  21. I run mine on auto, I believe, and I'm hoping an expert can jump in and confirm this, that you're supposed to run your aircon on auto so the it is used regularly as this help maintain its reliability. That's what I've been told. To be fair it's a pretty low effect on your fuel economy but more fuel efficient than having the windows open
  22. As for wind deflectors I only know of the Dealer OEM ones, but there are other makers out there. With the XV being a niche market vehicle in the UK parts suppliers aren't that common. £100 I think for the dealer supplied ones. As for the bonnet trim, I bought the OEM one from the dealers, it was £80 fitted, probably not worth looking anywhere else for one.
  23. I'm at 54k with my original clutch and it's still very low on the pedal. I've not heard of clutches bring an issue other than done suffer with "clutch judder" especially when cold. This doesn't affect the longevity of the clutch.

I had issue with a dealer not completing a service correctly that is still ongoing and quite messy at the minute. But servicing does affect fuel efficiency, especially if in you service they haven't updated the cars firmware, which they should do.
  25. Sorry I really cant help with that, I think it's unlikely that it would fit. Best bet would be to contact your local main dealer, they can usually get a part number, Subaru UK can be helpful too, I have had a couple of part numbers off them before and they've usually been fairly quick and helpful.
