  1. Now my wife had something like this with her last car where it threw up erroneous errors about low oil, it uses the same symbol for over pressure apparently so just check it’s not slightly over full. we a problem with it and we’re advised to pop a little more oil in, the light didn’t go away, eventually we got Subaru assist out and the mechanic told us that there was too much oil on there, he basically sucked some out and reset the error and it was fine from them on
  2. Hadn’t noticed that, unless it’s just easier to bolt them on early
  3. We’ve just ordered a motormover to be fitted actually, make it a bit easier to slot into its storage space. Spent a small fortune kitting it out, just bought a towing cover today. Security costs a packet though to stop it getting nicked
  4. Yes both van and car are 13 pin, Subaru only fit 13pin themselves, it’s a new van so they’re all 13 pin now. Haven’t even got it yet.
  5. I'm intrigued. What are we looking for? Those of us who reside in this room will probably get it.
  6. Anyone else spot anything about this BBC news article??
  7. They probably replace some belts as well as the usual stuff, if yours is petrol then you’ll have cam belts and plugs etc to deal with also. what you’ll find is different things are changed at different intervals, Oil etc will be every service filters might be every other service, other things might be every 3rd or 4th service. Inevitably there is a service where all of these things will align, and everything needs replacing all once, it sounds like the 96k service is that service.
  8. Subaru have fitted detachable Witter Towbar, not very intrusive at all, will be keeping mine now it has Towbar on and only dies about 100 miles a week, will now be the Towbar for the caravan we’ve just bought. With that mileage it should last me a while
  9. Thanks for that, I hadnt considered that, but to be fair I’ll probably run this one into the ground, it’s an official Subaru one so hoping its tidy
  10. Today car went in to have Towbar fitted so I can pull my little holiday home about, whilst it was in I got an oil and filter change done, keep her running smoothly, also put a tank of optimax in her on the way there.
  11. How much did you get stung for? And if it’s only 2012 then it would still be under warranot, not their warranty but you get a 6 year warranty 1 year plus 5 on things that are non consumables. Especially if it’s a defect by design. The consumer rights act has changed such that you now have a 6 year warranty on something that is expected to last. Like a car, I’d get in touch with citizens advice and challenge that
  12. That’s not good, we’ve got 4 with an hours drive so it’s not too bad, with our nearest only 15 mike away. goid to here provabkybonly a dry bush.
  13. I wondered this and whether it might increase understeer if you stiffened it too much. I find mine handles in a pretty balanced way and I don’t think I’d want to risk unbalancing the car by adding some new element to the handling package. The last time I managed to break traction in the car it drifted with the whole car moving sideways but the back becoming slightly looser than the front which meant it was manageable, I’m not sure I’d like the idea of full on understeer
  14. Well this is our first caravan, I’ve towed caravans before and driven LGVs with trailers so I’m ok with towing. But it’s all a bit new to us, I don’t think we’re doing the stuff of camping thing to be fair, although we could. I think we’ve Scotland in our sights for a 2 week holiday stopping off at different points Lake District, then west Scotland, across to east and then down through to kielder forest area and home. Probably pass your place on the last leg
  15. We’ve looked at the tow weights, the car tow weight isn’t going to be the kerb weight, we’ve looked at the kerb weight when towing and it’ll be nearer 1700kg for the car mass with me, the wife, a load of kit and the dog and his cage. So we’re under the 85% car to caravan. So should be ok. We don’t have a motormover. But I’ll see whether we need one later, most of the site were looking to go to are pretty flat. when we looked at car weights etc it had a warning saying that the XV cab easily pull a caravan beyond safe speeds. I read a test as well where the XV pulled a 1400kg van 0-60 in 14 seconds
  16. That’s good to know, I’m just getting a caravan, how do you find the XV towing, I imagine it’ll be quite good but I’ve never met anyone who as actually towed a decent size caravan with one. we’re getting a 1450kg caravan so be interesting to see how it acts under actual towing Conditions.
  17. I’ve seen these before but always wondered about insurance.
  18. I drove from Stafford to Angelsey and back on the M6, M56 and A55, and it averaged 78mpg for that journey. To be fair I wasn’t in a rush on that day. basically I was pulled into M6 just behind an Irish Lorry and followed bit most of the way there on cruise control. That’s not normal driving, I got we over 600 out of that tank.
  19. Just gone through all our CCTV and the guy wasn’t wearing gloves and looking at how he tried my door he’d have left a dirty great thumb print on my door handle. Got the Feds coming tomorrow now
  20. Ok so I’m just ranting about this. Done low life scumbag came up my drive this morning at 2:30am, tried all the door handles on mine and my wife’s car, then tried the front door and looked to see if the back gate was an option, tried the garage door and then gave up and went to our neighbour’s house. hatd scumbags like this, got him on 3 CCTV cameras, so police are coming round, looks like we got away lucky though as someone in the next street came downstairs as he was starting a shift at 4am and found the same scumbag in his hallway. got the police coming tomorrow to review the CCTV footage. We’ve got hos face so hoping he’s known to the police and he can be picked up. These lowlife, pond dwellers, need to get properly punished, if I’d have caught him, he wouldn’t have needed any additional punishment. Prison is too good for them. Feel a bit better now I’ve ranted that out in the open, just don’t like people trying to steal my Scooby.
  21. I use put optimax in every 3rd tank, I get about 500 - 550 miles to a tank on decent runs which is pretty good, there’s something about my XV that the dealers have asked me a couple of times if it’s been chipped because it goes like hot snot (nice litte 90s saying there). It’s much faster than my wife’s newer XV and has a load more torque at bottom end, but no one seems to know why, even Subaru can’t work it out. I had it from new so I know it’s not been tampered with, on optimax it’s really lively. when they did the relearn on the injectors yesterday it seems to have unleashed even more oomph. Yet it’s still running at around 48mpg on a decent run.
  22. Lets hope so, I did buy some fuel the other week out of necessity from a BP garage whereas I usually use Shell. So disconnecting the battery for a few minutes in future could resolve the problem, should it occur again.
  23. Well whatever it was that they did it seems to have greatly reduced the knock/rattle, even when stone cold, so that was an easy fix. Thid the problem with having injectors that learn how you drive and adapt to it. Basically AI fit injectors.
