  1. Honestly I hate this MG almost as much as I hate the Nissan Puke.
  2. So I dropped mine off at the dealers the other day, picked up a courtesy car, I say car depends if you can call an MG2 a car, I used to pedal bigger and more powerful cars around the garden as a child. Dreadful car, makes me realise why I have the XV. Literally no power and the noise on the motorway is unreal. Anyway the dealer is looking at the injectors, the plan is to get Subaru to authorise the replacement of all the injectors as that’s possibly cheaper than trying to work out which injector has is failing. At least the warranty does state injectors are included within the drive train so it’s not going to cost me anything. They believe the noise in the video is diesel knock caused by a failing sensor, only really does it bad when the weather is cold so glad I got this video as evidence. This has gone to Subaru Technical and I’m now waiting to hear back what they intend to do about it.
  3. Don’t tell anyone I told you. 😉
  4. They are useless, we’ve had nothing but trouble with them. Wrong windscreens, putting the wrong pad, breaking the sensor, causing the sensor computer to through a wobbly, ended up going to a subaru main dealer who had to buy a specialist cabe to reset the computer and calibrate the sensor and get a subaru tech out from London and no time idea how much that cost ? just had 2 failed attempts to replace our windscreen and finally got it done on Monday, now got to sort out compensation for me wasting 2 morninfs waiting in for them.
  5. Not good, you could actually bill them for a car wash, I was an engineer on highways for years and we were always getting claims for car washes
  6. Them using a diamond cutter shouldn’t cover yiur car in dust as bu lw t should use dust suppression. but it’s always satisfying when you get a car clayed and proper shiny
  7. Yes and because mine is a filthy, dirty Euro5 diesel its got much more torque than my wife’s Euro6 which is why I’ve kept it. Pulls great, 60mph in 6th gear it pull even with a caravan on the back, which is a bit worrying. Got an injection going wrong at the minute but it still pulls well. I’m pretty sure all the new XV are petrol now which is why they don’t have the pull.
  8. Yeah my van weighs 1500kg max but the car will pull 1600kg. Looks nice yours though. I don’t go fir colirs though, black or white for me haha!!
  9. Nice one, I would update mine but sadly the new XV won’t pull our caravan. There is a lot of tech in the new ones, but they’re a great drive. Not seen a red one like that before.
  10. I have already advised the dealer that this is drive train as i would say they are internal components, especially as I first recorded this knock back in October and it wasn’t resolved and now its worse.
  11. So I took the car to the dealers and several people looked over it listened to it and drove it and the geveral consensus is thattge noise is deisel knock cause by a failing diesel injector. I’m hoping that this is covered under the drive train warranty because it sounds expensive, it goes in an a couple if weeks to get sorted. in the meantime I have to drive about with an engube that sounds like its got a little gnome inside trying to get out with a hammer and chisel 😩
  12. Nit tghat easy to answer but it was from the main dealers so you coukd try them?
  13. Well, this is what I did with my XV yesterday. Washed and cleaned and ready for a weekend away. 60mph along the motorway was no problem even with a tinabd a half of caravan and virtually at GVW total combination of 3.4t. 0-60 only about 4 seconds slower to 60mph although fuel consumption significantly increased, seem to be getting just shy of 30mpg. Tricky bit is keeping it at 60mph because it wants to go faster! most of the weight I think in the car was alcohol 😂😂
  14. Managed to find out the GVW and its 2100kg a bit disappointing really as this means that the XV can carry 50kg more stuff than an outback despite its smaller size.
  15. Its never been misfuelled, I’m the only person to have put fuel in it.
  16. So my car is going back in again about this knock when it’s warming up. Its ok when its stone cold for about a mile and it’s definitely much better after about 15mins but between those points it sounds like this, taken by putting a mobile phone on record so that’ll give you an indication how loud this has to be to be recorded inside. no picture but turn up sound. Any suggestions?
  17. Thanks Stants, but that is a different set to f figures to what I have found, though I’venit found tge GVW yet, only kerb weight, the new outback seems to be 2000kg tow capacity and Kerbweight 1621kg, so looks like the new version Outback is slightly different but I can’t find the GVW anywhere. I’m trying to see if the available payload (difference between kerb weight and GVW which on the XV is 460kg) on the outback is more than the XV, certainly its a heavier car which is grear for towing, but if the payload is the same there’s no benefit to me upgrading.
  18. Hi, I know I’m lost ending up in here instead of the XV pages where I belong, but I am toying with th idea of upgrading the XV to the new Outback. I’m looking at it for towing but I’m trying to find the GVW of the new one without much success. anyone here know what it is? thanks DC
  19. Anyone tried any? did they work? Any that are recommended?
  20. This is why for £70 I don’t even bother getting my hands dirty 😂
  21. Its not the mount that’s the problem its the gel pad that goes between the windscreen and the unit, that needs to be a subaru one or it can screw the computer that controls it. The sensors on the windscreen on the subaru are very temperamental. I’ve been through this before
  22. Might look into this, the extra power could be handy for towing
