  1. you can remove the dpf and send it away to be chemically cleaned. i would also check to make sure all ecu updates are done and a forced regen procedure when put back together. the other daft one is the intercooler hose, if that devlops a small split then it will keep trying to ad extra fuel and eventually the dpf regen cycle will stop and the lights will come on alex
  2. Other option for the rear will be the pedders kit - this replaces the self levelling suspension which is expensive to replace Alex
  3. could be injectors overfuelling and not burning it off properly, there for clogging the dpf. could be ecu updates need doing, have you suffered anypower loss and the hose going to the intercooler can split allowing to much air in and regen process can be completed
  4. The locking one is easy. you have about 30 seconds from when you unlock the car to get the key in the ignition and turn to the second click otherwise the immobilser kicks in and you have to lock/unlock again small red butoon i have no idea alex
  5. have a look on godspeeds website, plenty of options on there Alex
  6. thats better news than, surprised you didnt se any smoke burning that much though
  7. thats far too much, anything below 1l per1k is cause for concern. probably be ringland issue, get them to do a compression test
  8. if the is no pull before 3k then bank 1 sensor 1 (air&fuel) could be starting to break down. wont throw a light until fully gone Alex
  9. should be a plunger under the bonnet, i bet they have bent it back when working around the engine bay, top right as you look at the engine bay on an adjustable brakcet Alex
  10. bcs have 30 clicks of adjustment from memory, i had them set at 12f/15r on my 3 series so it could just be they are set to hard. when they were originally set up they were set at 20 f&r and was told to drive for a few days and gradually turn them harder Alex
  11. I do work for a dealer, not ashamed to say that. i also missed brake fluid change off my list as well and the correct c2/c3 spec oil if its a diesel, it is nearly 11pm What i was getting at was Halfords sound like they have done the equivalent of the 12 k service not the major service as stated in the service book. thats why there is such a major difference in prices. Comparing apples with pears. how much do Halfords charge to do all items listed R and P in the book, im sure the price will increase quite a bit and wont be too far off a dealer. They will always be lower due to lower labour rate/less over heads im not going to contest that in the slightest but we will do our best to get close to the price on a like for like basis Alex
  12. I think you are missing diff/gearbox oils, fuel filter air filter, oil dilution reset using ssm3/4, front and rear brake strip and clean and handbrake/park brake adjustment and anti corrosion warranty check over servicing is 12 months or 12k miles which ever comes first so if a service had been done at 28k it would be one year or 12k from that point. its not wait until 48k or 48 months. with your xv being a 20012 model off the top of my head it will have a 3 year or 60k which ever comes first unless there was an offer on at time of purchase for 5 years - how long have you had the car?
  13. Underneath the bonnet is a plunger, has this been bent whilst under there and not making a connection. The beeps you hear are it trying to set but a door/bonnet/boot are open and not making contact Alex
  14. how new is the dealership? MOT is covered on etc, dealership has to invoice autoprotect for it. For the scratch and alloy repairs there is a helpline number in your original etc booklet. they will then send a local repairer to assess and sort the issues if they are covered, they are not up to the dealer. As said above get subaru uk to contact the dealership what other services are you trying to get them to do? the monthly wash and vac and the once a year valet or the tracking check? alex
  15. What was the root cause of the dpf getting blocked? until you find this then the problem will just come back. Are they using the correct oil in servicing? are they resetting the oil dilution and making sure the pak files are upto date? have they carried out injector and fuel pump relearn? What is the driving style of the vehicle? is the intercooler hose which attaches onto the right hand side of the intercooler ok, these have split and allow extra air and lack of performance and the car cannot carry out the full regen cycle? The dpf is a non moving part so something has caused it to block Alex
  16. What brand of fuel are you using in it? what is the normal daily use of the vehicle? 4th gear at 1800-2000 rpm for 20-25mins as per the hand book to try and force it to clear. the other item that it could be is one of the intercooler hoses has a split causing an air leak which will mess up the readings
  17. standard paint is 3 year but 10 year anti corrosion as long as it has had the year checks and re treatment of the underseal as per the service book from memory.
  18. Nothing to worry about, its a wax they put on at the factory. it will burn off after a couple of hundred miles. Alex
  19. 1. idle can be a little rough on these they go through injector learn at idle on a hot engine. ie pull up on your drive and leave to idle for a minute or so every now and again. make sure it has the most up to pak file on it + forced injector and fuel pump learn clean out the sensors in the intake manifold these get gummed up
  20. they are quite easy to get out when you have a ramp, can have them out in less than 2 hours
  21. most people see between 30 and 35 mpg as weekend cars, got several customers who use them for commuting and get close to 40 mpg out of them
  22. 1. idle can be a little rough on these they go through injector learn at idle on a hot engine. ie pull up on your drive and leave to idle for a minute or so every now and again. make sure it has the most up to pak file on it + forced injector and fuel pump learn clean out the sensors in the intake manifold these get gummed up. make sure air and fuel filter are in good condition, 2 clutch should be smooth on them. could try a few gear box oil changes think its 75-90 used in there off the top of my head. 3 this could all be tied in to number 1, make sure you use a diesel with a low bio fuel percentage, normally shell or bp are good Alex
  23. probably needs to be recoded Alex
  24. This^^ + throttle body/maf/map sensor cleaned, if it still does it after this then it is the air fuel sensor starting to go faulty
  25. we've just had 1 daily driver p1 in for service, 1 that has been stood for 5 years and getting it all back on the road and another that has been stood for 7 years to pick up in the next few week, seems like they are coming back out the woodwork now so good luck in your hunt Alex
