Time has come for the upgrades! I'm very excited so today I'll be ordering the panel filter. Still undecided on make but my head is saying pipercross at the minute. I'm also going to order an rcm fuel pump. Now is there anything else I need to get with the pump or is it basically plug in and play? I've tried to source a gasket for the pump too bit icp say they can't get them anymore. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Once the pump is in and the filter is ready I'll order my exhaust gaskets get myself booked in with Duncan and put the decat on. Oh one more bit, the car is going on the rollers Saturday. Should be interesting to see.

Yeah was down to 110.9 down here but back up to 112.9 for 99 momentum.

The maps are made for the fuel. That's why jap imports have to be run on high octane. Jdm are mapped for it.

I'll have a look in morning but I'm sure my UK classic has a sticker saying only to use super.

I have a td04 on my turbo 2000 impreza. X reg(2000)

I have to plan my journey around what petrol stations I'll pass and of they have high octane fuel.

Because the impreza run hotter than the average car 95 Ron is less stable in the chamber. This is what causes knock or pinking. the engine picks up on this and retards the timing. (Basic picture borrowed from Google) excessive knock can cause damage. [emoji4]

Have a check of all the diff oil levels and gearbox oil. I know you're saying it doesn't affect forward gears but its still worth looking into. I've always expected whine from reverse gears so I'm not sure if it's too severe without hearing it.

Does it get louder if you get quicker?

I've been told that a decat downpipe could cause overboost and that will make it fuel cut. I would recommend having it mapped as the car could be running rich/lean and doing damage. At 6000rpm you may be pass the maximum boost so it may taper off(using my basic knowledge). As for the noisy reverse, is it whiney, crunchy or tappy? How would you describe it? Also does it come from front or rear? I know my reverse is whiny but that's simply because it's reverse. Like most other cars.

Yeah that was the worse part. I broke the silly clip on the recirc too. Still feels tight and sealed. Didn't have no air leaks on the test run.

Today I have mainly been swearing at the intercooler. Didn't realise they were so difficult to get off (for a first timer). I cleaned the knock sensor and re-sat it to see if that gets rid of my code. Give it another two weeks to see if it comes back. [emoji53]

As I pulled out my road the other week a bug eye put his thumb up at me and coincidently we went the same way. Into the Dartford tunnel (famous for tunnel runs) it was beautiful. Our eyes met at the entrance, I shrugged my shoulders to suggest "we may as well have a blast" he nodded in agreement and away we went. Roaring through the tunnel (he was anyway I didn't have my exhaust at that point) we left the tunnel and went separate ways but not before we had a flash (no gambit, the headlights) and a dab of hazard lights. I've stopped a classic before and ended up just chatting for a good half hour. Just rambling on and I'm sure he had things to do like I did but for that moment it didn't matter. Just a few days ago I was stopped in asda by a Scooby owner flogging the youscoob website. I'm not on Facebook though. I absolutely love the feeling of being in an almost exclusive club feels a bit special. I've never felt so welcomed to a club without even knowing the members and this forum proves that even more so.
