  1. wotcha and welcome - as with most Japanese cars a well maintained scooby can run for many years with no trouble, there are some issues with recent legacy diesels, allegedly due to misaligned gearboxes on assembly. There have also been some engine failures with the 2008 - 2010 2.5l sti engines (ringland failure) caused by sustained high rev running on the standard maps. Motors that have been remapped to 330bhp had the different parameters added to stop the lean running at high revs. Petes mate also had a failure due to low oil levels pros - great handling and fun to drive with addictive turbo rush - cons frequent visits to garage and tyre supplier :) we have a buying guide here http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/1619-help-check-guide-buying-1st-subaru/
  2. wotcha and welcome - that is a clean looking bay there. to get the picture to show in your post use the photobucket link labelled 'IMG' - makes it easier for us lazy buggers :D
  3. we have a bug eye wagon with 16 engine in the for sale..? http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/8836-subaru-impreza-16-ts-4wd/
  4. the seals can give over time - going harder, bit of vibration etc The oil just sitting on them wouldnt cause them to leak though. Do you know if they have ever been changed?
  5. wotcha and welcome - is it a standard car or are there any mods?
  6. any chance of the pistonheads link for us lazy buggers ;) good luck with the sale
  7. Thought you would have photoshopped the flower beds while you were at it  on a serious note Im with Stanton, that is better than I could achive, I have only managed to tidy up a few low res jpgs so far - need a lot more practice
  8. looks in great nick - good luck with the sale
  9. TLag will probably be able to add some detail but removing the cat will provide less resistance to the exhaust flow out of the pipe so the turbo should spin up quicker. With that said you may not notice any difference doing that in isolation as having an improved air flow away from the engine helps when you improve the air flow in as well - things like induction kit / high flow filter. What would you like to achieve with your motor that means considering the removal of the cat?
  10. Wotcha and welcome - any chance of some photos - they tend to help market the car better - good luck with the sale
  11. Wotcha and welcome - as Stanton said a map for the new turbo would probably be the first step - you could also get it set to run mafless also did you skim the heads before reassembly as they may have warped through excessive heat when your engine let go - really strange you are repeatedly bending blades on the turbo?
  12. if it was more serious than as gambit suggested it would produce more smoke more often. All the mods you have done sound spot on - I would just keep it in tyres and decent brake pads. Options for the future could be uprated calipers and discs and looking at chassis mods, suspension, anti roll bars etc
  13. Wotcha and welcome!! :)
  14. Wotcha and welcome - sounds like a great idea for a project thread. there are many options dependant on budget - we get a discount for silicon hoses with Roose motorsport http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/2233-roose-motorsport-silicon-hose-discount-group-buy/ Mishimoto are getting some good press for quality gear http://www.mishimoto.co.uk/?gclid=CPHav8fnlMACFYofwwodHS0A8A We have Simon of Jolly Green Monster fame as a forum member for your mapping needs and you have loads of exhaust choice dependant on style and sound as well as performance, some options here http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog/index.php?cPath=24_156&osCsid=3fa7a910568c3cea2d54825b455083e7
  15. Wotcha and welcome - check out TLags build thread for some build inspiration ;)
  16. Wotcha and welcome - quite the contrast in vehicles - I would be interested in your feedback in the long term as a comparision
  17. Wotcha and welcome - the wrx will be setup to handle the extra power so as long as you compensate with brakes and chassis improvements to cope you will be fine
  18. Wotcha and welcome - we have a fair number of Fozzy owners on here - plenty of mods done as well so some food for thought ;)
