  1. I was in exactly the same situation when I first got into Subarus :D
  2. Wotcha and welcome - sounds like a plan - keep us posted ;)
  3. The debate goes on - I contacted Subaru about the Type Uk when I was first buying mine due to all the different opinions, I was advised as Pete said it was a dealer STI fitted PPP upgrade and a model in its own right so insurance wasn't impacted as its a dealer car - This model is also referenced on the Subaru Impreza Wikipedia page Either way you are not getting a bad motor - the standard STI is easily upgraded, the 330s has all the good stuff plus some nice tweaks. Feedback I had from friends I let out in mine who had owned previous Imprezas was the steering was not as sharp, this has been sorted with the new Impreza but can be addressed with kits from people like Litchfield
  4. Wotcha and welcome. Induction kit is easy to fit as are exhausts. Being the GX I would suggest giving it a good service with new plugs and decent oil clean the injectors so you know its all running correctly then look at chassis mods to improve handling that way you can stop and turn more effectively. With a non turbo engine it will cost quite a bit to gain some power but overall pound per bhp increase is small - for power it is better to go with a turbo option from the start - get it running sweet and handling a bit sharper that will reap the full benefit of the drive train
  5. Id go for the red one but replace the VW badge with a big set of stars ;)

    Cheap type r

lovely - will need a bit of TLC but cracking motor - bonnet doesnt look like it fits too well though would need to investigate that
  8. Wotcha and welcome - lovely motor but I will admit to secretly coveting a 22B
  9. Thanks for sharing - always good to know reputable places to get your motor sorted
  10. Think I did a thread on this but here are photos showing locations of stuff
  11. love it - get a project thread up!! :D
  12. Wotcha and welcome - not used on myself but they have a good rep
  13. Wotcha and welcome - sorry your joining the forum was under these circumstances
  14. Will be easier in long run, as you say job done properly - using the vpower type fuels in future helps keep them clean as they have detergents etc in the fuel which your lower ron / cost fuels dont have. Also injectors do wear / over time so this should help with peace of mind in the long run that they are performing correctly
  15. best way with injectors is ultrasonic bath
  16. yup drop oilman (Tim) a message for their recommendation
  17. Glad to hear it has been sorted - did you soak in penetrating oil?
  18. drop Oilman a line (Opie Oils) for a recommendation as you have a non standard car - you can also take advantage of the forum discount being a member http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/user/609-oilman/
  19. Yup decent tyres with discounts would be useful but I understand they don't make that much on tyres as it is and the business model is about having them fitted to stay afloat

    eBay snipers

its the not being around which it would help me with
  21. :o first example I have heard of that happening on an STI hatch - really sorry to hear that RA developments could help you out with uprated engine internals or a complete engine if you have really deep pockets http://www.ra-motorsport.co.uk/Home/Pages/contact
  22. always good for a short term fix but sounds like saving for a stainless item in the future will be the way to go
