  1. Had one of these for years well worth the outlay https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/clarke-2-tonne-trolley-jack-ctj2001g If I was buying now I would go for this but I dont think you need the low profile with your motor https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/clarke-ctj2qlp-2-tonne-quick-lift-low-profile?da=1&TC=SRC-trolley%20jack
  2. As Ash said plus good luck with the sale
  3. Wotcha and welcome - it is unlikely the map has corrupted of its own accord the ECU's tend to be quite robust. As the car has run fine for a number of years with the map it is probably something else Are there any engine codes that have been generated as this could point to an issue??.. If the car was mapped with the current filter in place I would keep it as is - possibly clean or replace the old filter if needed. When were the plugs last changed? It might also be a coil pack breaking down Check the MAF sensor is working correctly also - disconnect whilst the car is idling - what is the result??
  4. really looking the part there Matt - top job, would be interesting to see how some dished alloys would look instead of the flat spokes, give the impression of depth, possibly a photoshop job for someone with the skills
  5. could be the cover mounts need tightening?? but that may not cure it if they have gone a bit hard, even if replaced during the engine rebuild 6 years doing nothing could affect it
  6. if the rest of the car - engine sound / perfomance etc are ok its probably age related - an investment in some gasket sealant and new rubber would sort it for the next few years
  7. just gone through the ad IMO that is a great car for the money - hope it goes to someone who will continue to appreciate it
  8. Mate dont you know it - watching so many choice machines coming through this part of the forum has been a test I can tell you but hopefully things may be taking a turn in the near future and I can get something sorted ;)
  9. The helicoil thread you replace it with will be stonger than the alloy originally stripped, just take you time and ensure everything is drilled and tapped square otherwise you will be putting uneven pressue on the repaired mount
  10. Great find Ash - works better as a link as you can manipulate the columns making it easier to sort.
  11. thats better - tidy looking motor :)
  12. wotcha and welcome - if you do go this route any chance of a before and after video ;)
  13. wotcha and welcome - as with most Japanese cars a well maintained scooby can run for many years with no trouble, there are some issues with recent legacy diesels, allegedly due to misaligned gearboxes on assembly. There have also been some engine failures with the 2008 - 2010 2.5l sti engines (ringland failure) caused by sustained high rev running on the standard maps. Motors that have been remapped to 330bhp had the different parameters added to stop the lean running at high revs. Petes mate also had a failure due to low oil levels pros - great handling and fun to drive with addictive turbo rush - cons frequent visits to garage and tyre supplier :) we have a buying guide here http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/1619-help-check-guide-buying-1st-subaru/
  14. wotcha and welcome - that is a clean looking bay there. to get the picture to show in your post use the photobucket link labelled 'IMG' - makes it easier for us lazy buggers :D
  15. we have a bug eye wagon with 16 engine in the for sale..? http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/8836-subaru-impreza-16-ts-4wd/
  16. the seals can give over time - going harder, bit of vibration etc The oil just sitting on them wouldnt cause them to leak though. Do you know if they have ever been changed?
  17. wotcha and welcome - is it a standard car or are there any mods?
  18. any chance of the pistonheads link for us lazy buggers ;) good luck with the sale
  19. Jay762 replied to Ash007ks's topic in Junk Room
Thought you would have photoshopped the flower beds while you were at it  on a serious note Im with Stanton, that is better than I could achive, I have only managed to tidy up a few low res jpgs so far - need a lot more practice
  20. looks in great nick - good luck with the sale
  21. TLag will probably be able to add some detail but removing the cat will provide less resistance to the exhaust flow out of the pipe so the turbo should spin up quicker. With that said you may not notice any difference doing that in isolation as having an improved air flow away from the engine helps when you improve the air flow in as well - things like induction kit / high flow filter. What would you like to achieve with your motor that means considering the removal of the cat?
  22. Wotcha and welcome - any chance of some photos - they tend to help market the car better - good luck with the sale
  23. Wotcha and welcome - as Stanton said a map for the new turbo would probably be the first step - you could also get it set to run mafless also did you skim the heads before reassembly as they may have warped through excessive heat when your engine let go - really strange you are repeatedly bending blades on the turbo?
  24. if it was more serious than as gambit suggested it would produce more smoke more often. All the mods you have done sound spot on - I would just keep it in tyres and decent brake pads. Options for the future could be uprated calipers and discs and looking at chassis mods, suspension, anti roll bars etc
  25. Wotcha and welcome!! :)
