  1. Wotcha and welcome
  2. if you feel like it take some pics and post them in project thread - always useful seeing what goes into a job like that ;)
  3. It could and if you decide to do it keep us posted with a project thread - however it would be more for your own benefit to experience the work involved as it is extensive and will take the same or more money than getting a turbo model in the first place. The short answer is it would be better to go turbo from the start not convert an S model.
  4. covered well by all above - keep us posted
  5. What a great thread - looks like you have a real nice motor there and clearly you have been well and truly bitten - not such a bad thing and kudos to getting it through the SWMBO quality gate ;)
  6. Wotcha and welcome - those mods do make a clear difference I take it handling has improved ;)
  7. Wotcha and welcome - here is a buyers guide what to look out for. http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/1619-help-check-guide-buying-1st-subaru/ some basic differences wrx sti tends to be the older models wrx quick turbo car dependant on year 5 speed gearbox sti similar to wrx model but can come with six speed box, more power as standard, more powerful brakes, wider track and alloy components instead of steel used in wheel mounting gear there will be other stuff as well but that gives you a brief high level
  8. Wotcha and welcome Richie - yes it is a friendly bunch for the most part and we can see that reflected in this forum Also wrt your sig... or you didnt quite make that last corner and there is an angry farmer just over the horizon wanting to know who is going to fix his hedge
  9. Wotcha and welcome!!
  10. wheel bearings I have found make more of a grinding noise CV joints more of a clunking / knocking noise - hopefully you can narrow it down a bit
  11. didnt want to say that - but as you pointed out front end comes off easily enough and it will be easier 2nd time around ;)
  12. Looking good Pete
  13. Yup agree if your running 19's you are probably looking at ridin' slow and low so its not as much of an issue :D
  14. Great film that watched it through - testament to the way they put these cars together that he can survive an impact like that. well edited.
  15. latest firefox version, no parental protection on my profile - access all areas :D
  16. Jay762 replied to Gambit's topic in Car Shows
totally agree with this statement - going on the pictures it looked like a great day, not a bug fan but that first pic of Gems of the black bug has definitely caused me to question my initial ideas - monster attitude in a motor.
  17. the 45's wouldn't work on the 17's - according to alloy wheels you would be looking at 225/45 18's or 225/40 19's http://www.alloywheels.com/?Make=Subaru&Model=Outback-Mk3
  18. Wotcha and welcome - unfortunate news there - I'll move your thread to the parts wanted section then it should get more specific attention and maybe some can help you out
  19. so Pcd and fitment aside as long as you have the same rolling radius you will be fine so compensating for the tyre height as well as wheel diameter is a must - all impacts the speedo reading. If you did go for 17" impreza wheels you would still have to retain the existing tyre profile - I dont know what profile you are currently running but it might be worth looking at 18's or 19's if you have a really high tyre wall then you could run a lower profile tyre - this does improve cornering and feel but some owners dont necessarily want the firmer ride that can come with it. What tyres do you currently use?
  20. Wotcha and welcome Tom - that is a great photo did you use a filter or anything, really shows off that colour, we have a couple of members who are quite adept with the old SLR. Will keep an eye out for the project thread as I do enjoy a good nose at others work :)
  21. wasnt someone on here wanting to sell a full FMIC kit? - might be some time ago though
  22. As Gambit says - if you have the folding magic it is worth having the conversation
