  1. methanol - an alcohol you mix with the petrol to give an improved burn rate - that doesn't need to be the first mod, that is something you get to when you have completed the engine mods and are looking at the mapping, it is then you decide to have it mapped with meth as a consideration or keep it as petrol only
  2. best way - its like a big sweety shop - they all taste great but some dont mix as well as others - and non of them are going anywhere :)
  3. soooo this is a good thing right???
  4. no problem - yes you can might need a torch but get stuck in - you can see more of it here this is a front view of the engine
  5. Wotcha and welcome - that is a tidy vehicle you have there :)
  6. I would have a look to see what engine is in the car before you start - is it a closed deck block or not - if so it will respond better to tuning than a standard block
  7. 350 - 400 will be pushing past the TMIC capabilities - so you will be looking at FMIC bigger injectors an uprated fuel pump... I rescued this from an old thread that we may have lost in the recent hiccups so unfortunately I cannot credit the member who originally posted it... Just a bit of weee advice if your planning on running big power and im not trying to put you off its just ive looked into it , STI internals and closed block are good for over 450bhp if it has Forged internals, standard cooler is good for 300 maybe more, STI intercooler is good for over 350 but by this stage most start to Run front mount intercoolers but beware of the lag. Turbo again is down to preference but steer well away from the over priced billet turbos from Scooby clinic ( which arnt even made by them they are imported and have there names added) id be looking at Either an Andy forrest turbo hybrid or get in touch with Turbo Dynamics ( good company ) built my current stage 3 hybrid for fez RS, Bigger injectors and Fuel pump will be needed as well. I would and this is purely down to my preference get a multi stage boost controller and have 3 maps put on it, Race obviously most power, Town some boost, and eco next to no boost. Cams performance in Blackburn got this from standard internals Brian Coward (STi Type UK) 490.6 bhp 407.8 lb/ft If you check out this months Jap perf car mag there is the RA developments classic which may give some food for thought http://www.ramotorsport.co.uk/Product/Category/QD20100622015735 - there is also my personal muse the original Gobstopper by RCM http://www.rogerclarkmotorsport.co.uk/gobstopper/official/index.htm
  8. Have seen a couple of vids on the drive 'channel' but not seen this one - will pick this up tomorrow :)
  9. could be a worn steering rack but I would also check your wheel hubs for play
  10. ah - that is slightly different then :)
  11. As soon as your mum gets herself another Scoob point her in this direction to share some pics etc
  12. Wotcha and welcome Jamie - we have had a Fozzy alarm discussion on here recently and apparently the Sigma was an alarm upgrade not standard so may not have been fitted from new
  13. well its like being forced to choose between a lottery jackpot win and a million pound bank account - if any of those Scoobs turned up on my drive I would be very pleased - if I was in the position I would have two sets of wheels one black one gold and feel thoroughly spoilt :P
  14. There are a few classic owners on the forum, you want to watch for rust on rear arches - there is a lip on the inside that gathers crud, check for hoses that are now brittle or split due to age / heat etc, some basics there but for now I would refresh the brake fluid for some new 5.1 if it hasn't had a service recently Id get some good oil and plugs in place, new filter and check the state of your air filter - stick in some petrol and enjoy
  15. Wotcha and wlecome - great to have you onboard
  16. Excellent news!! cost effective mods - hi flow filter, exhaust, uprate the brakes or good service, decent oil and filter plus plugs, depends how far you would like to go
  17. Wotcha and welcome - quite a few options open to you, depends on budget and as gambit suggested power requirements.
  18. Hope it sorts it for you - keep us posted :)
  19. half the pleasure is thinking about mod planning and changing your mind I have now started to right things down as I come up with new ideas and start to lose track
  20. create a thread in the wanted section, that way it will be easier for potential sellers browsing to find your request :)
