  1. Wotcha and welcome Niaz - plenty of Legacy owners on here so Ill wait for them to answer the other questions however when it comes to windscreen wipers I have found PIAA silicon ones are the way to go - far better visibility over OEM
  2. Item number 20 in the link http://www.buysubarupartsnow.com/oem-part/subaru/forester/2007/x/2-5l-h4-gas/fuel-system/fuel-system-components/fuel-filter/42072aa121 picture - its the teabag type thing on the pump uptake
  3. Any chance of some photos - it tends to help with the sale??
  4. Think for your year they are in tank, part of the pump / pickup system, seem to remember something about replacement every 60k but that might be my Impreza
  5. Wotcha and welcome - we have quite a few legacy members on here, feel free to get stuck in, post photos join discussions etc as we have a friendly - albeit sometimes eclectic, bunch knocking about :)
  6. ah - actually I might have thrown a bit of a curve ball in there - I think MY99 is from 98 and yours is a 97 so apologies there - might be worth a telephone call though
  7. Existing ECU mapping http://www.mocomracing.com/product_details.asp?id=312&cat=35⊂=0
  8. Before you start bolting things to your car I would suggest you have the car in a good sound starting point - I dont know what mileage your car as done and you don't mention any service history but I would suggest (if this hasn't been done in the last 4 years 15K miles) getting your injectors cleaned, replace the fuel filter, replace the fuel pump - might as well uprate at the same time - new oil filter, decent oil, check / replace air filter, replace the brake fluid, check your brake pads and all pistons are free in the calipers, check the condition of the brake hoses - if original replace with braided items replace the spark plugs. dependant on what you buy this lot could set you back 3-400 quid but you have a good known starting point for modifications and you have more confidence in the car starting and stopping when it is supposed to
  9. Yes - there are x3 plug models (from 96 onwards I think) and x4 plug models (pre 96) check which yours has before buying some come with base maps installed others are out there with specific maps to the cars they were removed from these may well work on your car when plugged in but I wouldn't risk it as you could end up with the cost of a new engine on your hands against the preventative cost of a decent map.
  10. I always gave it about 15 / 20 mins - 5 or so miles - the Coolant needle had been sat constantly at half way before I would let rip pipercross, cosworth both good makes - look for one that does not need oiling to avoid issues with the MAF If you have done a high flow exhaust system from turbo back and a hi flow filter the system should change the mixture settings to compensate to a degree but you could have it done then to set it spot on consider a high flow fuel pump though just to make sure there is enough juice getting to the engine
  11. I like that it would stand out from everyone else - Im not sure I could live with the black white split think I would have to have it all one or the other
  12. Keep them coming Bazza - this is into a great project thread ;)
  13. ahhhh now that's the ticket - some great progress there Bazza, its good your lad is getting in amongst it as well :)
  14. Each car is individual so whilst the ECU will plug straight in (in most cases) a remap should be completed
  15. Apexi ECU's http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/APEXI-POWER-FC-ECU-FOR-SUBARU-IMPREZA-WRX-STI-TURBO-2000-WITH-HAND-CONTROLLER-/161229442071?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3ASubaru&hash=item258a060c17 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-impreza-version-3-and-4-apexi-power-fc-ecu-and-commander-3-plug-/301104165024?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item461b34f0a0
  16. Have you got an oil temperature and oil pressure gauge fitted also a turbo boost pressure guage? If you are looking at modding your car it is an idea to keep an eye on things, so if you don't have these I would consider them as one of the first things you put in your car
  17. yup cheaper than a Motec M800
  18. We got stung that way as well - also a relative got stung with the windscreen replacement thing - doesn't affect your no claims 'my !Removed!!'
  19. Its amazing how it does seem to collect behind the bodywork
  20. They had my vote - as I said before only thing I wasn't convinced about was the STI logo
