  1. ... going to have a sandwich? ... going to watch 'in the night garden'? ... going to have a kip? :D
  2. Great job - set up your playlist and away you go :D
  3. You are right - It is the same turbo on the 97 Forester - there are different turbos on later forester models but I havent found the specs for those yet to validate my earlier post.
  4. ok so after realising I had kicked over a rock - probably much as you did yourself from google - I am now pretty sure the standard turbo on the 1997 WRX (not STI) was a TD04-13T the WRX STI had a TD05H - 16G I now need to find a way to collate all the info I have found into something that is manageable
  5. a point of note - I will find the reference with more detail but I have put it somewhere safe ... (I know its in another thread on here when a similar question was asked along the lines of "been offered a TD05 do I buy it??" The TD04 refers to one half of the turbo and would normally be followed by some further letters and numbers which identify the second part of the turbo build for example we have TD04's across many subaru models but the difference is in second part which sorts size and type of vanes / impellar which vary in size and shape giving different boost properties so the Fossie gets lots of nice low down grunt and the Impreza gets more up top.
  6. I tend to refer to the forester as a Fozzy / Fossie but that is partly because the bear rocks ;)
  7. ok how about this one...
  8. looking forward to the pictures :D
  9. Battery would be my first place to check
  10. true romance... :P
  11. That is a really good finish - and agree a proper polisher is on my list of things to get ;)
  12. So that point being made are we now going to widen the film challenges beyond Tropic Thunder?
  13. What a shame - useful to know though - summer time only track
  14. yup check the plate under the bonnet and it may shed more light on the matter, then we can chat about its fluids ;)
  15. Wotcha and welcome - great looking motor bet it sounds awesome as well with that back box on it.
  16. Lovely hip movement Pete :D
  17. awwww - I definately have a touch of the green eyed monster my mullet attempt departed, not by choice, with the arrival of the nineties :D
  18. No problem chum - dont be a stranger, the pull of a flat four is strong ;)
  19. Wotcha and welcome - If it is a WRX there should be a letter after GC8 of either A-G which would identify year and spec can you post some photo's?
  20. soapy water is the way to go so when you rev the engine if there is a hole that appears due to pressure expansion it blows little bubbles
  21. The noise level with the exhaust will be down to the manufacturer, you can have a decat exhaust with a large silencer box and keep the levels low, conversely you can have hi flow sport cats fitted followed by a straight through pipe and it will be louder than your standard setup. from the diagrams it looks like the lamba is just after the first cat I cant help with rear plug access on your vehicle, but Im sure one of the others will be along with the knowledge
  22. well fingers crossed - but keep an eye on the levels, oil and coolant as you have highlighted there may have been damage done by the overheating. what you possibly have now is the time to consider the options to give you peace of mind/assurance, engine swap, car swap (risk with the unknown again) or engine out and heads checked??
  23. Sounds like a great project thread ;)
  24. Wotcha and welcome - I would have said the battery as a first place to check but as you have verified this I would investigate the immobiliser itself, particulalrly as you can hear the relay in it and sometimes it doesnt de activate. some of the other members may be along in a bit with more detail
  25. Great shot and both with the same hairstyle :D
