  1. Here is a diagram showing alignment example of SOHC And one with DOHC
  2. The timing belts will have to come off in order to remove the heads and get to the gaskets, there will be marks on the pulleys which will have to be in a set position when the belt is put back on. If you want to you could use a dab of white paint to mark belt position in relation to pulley.
  3. oooo its a slippery slope but a nice slide ;)
  4. Agree with Gambit - that is the most likely cause, when it is apart you will have to check for any warpage of the head
  5. Somebody took some brave pills this morning
  6. That is a nice improvement over 12 months!
  7. That's a nice match with the surround, has the sound clarity improved over standard?
  8. That is great to see will pass it on to people who I know are on FB
  9. Just found another slightly different description P1380 Glow Relay Circuit (Low) my advice - you have an earth somewhere check the relay, all glow plugs and any connecting leads in the circuit for resistance to ground / earth they should all be high - you can do this with a multimeter
  10. Glow plugs have to warm up and before the engine will start hence why you wait for the coil light to go out - this is done through a relay due to the amount of power required, given it has twice blown a 50 amp fuse on startup - no mean feat - I would say you have an earth and because the engine continues to run after startup which is when the relay cuts out I would say the earth is related to the relay
  11. Wotcha and welcome - glow plugs are mass produced and the chances of one going down and engine not starting I would say is low - If it did it would very lumpy indeed Any chance you could check the error codes that would probably narrow it down somewhat
  12. and now its going to be on rails - nice mod!! :P
  13. That brilliant!! loads of happy miles ahead of you!! :)
  14. Looking good - obviously I like the black over silver look, slightly biased there - If you ever fancy taking your hobby on the road I have some pigeons that need addressing ;)
  15. Wotcha and welcome - hopefully some of the Legacy / Forester members will be along to share their opinions
  16. Wotcha and welcome
  17. Wotcha and welcome - thanks for the feedback, we are fortunate in that, although a relatively new site, we have great members on here which is obviously what makes it.
  18. Wotcha and welcome - I myself am a relative newcomer to Scoobies, they are addictive - although you cant pull wheelies :)
  19. You get a discount on your insurance by being a member of this site - that may help with a cheaper quote http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/544-up-to-15-off-your-scooby-insurance/
  20. Looking good - best of luck with the launch have you many pre production orders?
  21. Thats very true, what you could start with is a good service including an engine flush get all the crud out then possibly look at saving weight then look at handling, stiffening up the chassis, that way the power to weight ratio is changed for the better you save fuel as it is a lighter vehicle and it will go and stop a lot better. look at changing the transmission and diff oil and put a friction reducing additive in there as well all to help the standard car run better.
  22. That's a good approach but you need to be aware of what is going to be a realistic power increase for the money you spend ;)
  23. I think you would be spending quite a bit to get an extra 100BHP out of the 2.0l engine. what I originally stated still stands - Scooby world lists exhausts that will fit for your model so speak to them for that, they may also be able to help you with an induction kit http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog/index.php?cPath=24_56 The chaps at RA are closer to you and will be able to help with engine work - stroker kits to increase capacity, gaskets to change compression, injectors and fuel pumps plus setup advice - they work with Cobra exhaust so may be able to help in that department as well but I don't know how much of the ancillaries are transferable between Impreza and Legacy models http://www.ra-motorsport.co.uk/Product/Category/FW20101202092100 If you genuinely want another 100bhp go for a turbo model as it will have that as standard plus the suspension and brakes etc to cope
