  1. Are the STi's supposed to have a front lip on them? Or is it a factory option? Just curious as that hawk eye doesn't have one...nor does it have the fog light covers it appears.
  2. Trying to get into contact with Max at Hurst for that silver JDM one, going to have another look at the blue one at JM Imports this week again as well.
  3. Will check them out. Yeah, peanut/blob same thing. I'm a Yank by birth, cut me a some slack 😉😂
  4. Yeah...I'm not even entertaining that one. Think it's going to be between the silver JDM one there at Hurst and the blue Type UK at JM Imports if I'm honest...I'm really torn... Blue Hawkeye Pros: Hawkeye, blue colour, mostly OEM, probably £1k on DEFI gauges, near location, price, burble, reputable garage. Bad: 2.5L, not sure about timing belt? Silver Peanut Pros: JDM (and all the goodies), 2L, looks all OEM Bad: Higher price than I was looking for originally, no burble, not entirely sold on the colour (would prefer white or blue), extremely far away, not sure on timing belt
  5. Exactly. That's the place I've read absolute horror stories about. CA Performance is the new name? Good to know. There's a place called Hurst in Bedfordshire, bit of a drive, but reviews came back good (even someone on here from about a year ago). Shame the white one doesn't have the larger spoiler on it! http://www.hurstcars.co.uk/used-cars/search-results?page=2&model=IMPREZA&make=SUBARU&maximumPrices=11000&vehicleType=cars Actually don't mind the grey on this one...maybe it's the alloys on that other one? Just a tad high for me though on the price...actually quite fancy this one... http://www.hurstcars.co.uk/used-cars/subaru-impreza-bedford-201607256159777
  6. Yeah, seem to be hard to find though. The blob with 42k on it in Bishop Auckland wasn't a "wisecrack" 😉😂 but yeah...I did see one, but £10k and canny far drive down South. Couldn't find any info on the garage either which is a bit disconcerting considering it's in Bradford... http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/subaru/impreza-sti/subaru-impreza-wrx-sti-type-uk-ppp-widetrack--fsh--excellent-condition/6382490#/home and another, but again, seems like a dodgy garage when I've checked it out. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/subaru/impreza-sti/fresh-import-jdm-subaru-impreza-sti/5210977 another, but can't find any info on the garage at all... http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/subaru/impreza-sti/subaru-impreza-2-0-wrx-sti-type-uk-dccd-widetrack--stage-1-upgrades/6384974 I don't particularly want to drive ages away to get one either...seen a white JDM 03 up for £11k, but private sale. Would prefer a dealer where I can get a slight warranty and take it back if problems arise (saw someone picked one up and the whole thing blew less than 50miles from home. Private sale, lost all his money.) i mean theres cars cars out there, like this http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/subaru/impreza-sti/-fresh-import-sti-jdm-forged-twinscroll-dccd/6322040 but I just don't trust that. I looked at importing one myself and spoke with Juergen and he said £14k to bring one over easily...
  7. Daily driver mate for time being. Only just managed to convince my wife to let me get one, so can be shoving mods in her face straight away haha! Gotta work into them slowly 😉 Been out of the car scene since I met her really and moved to the UK. I want a hawk because I really like the looks of it, not totally opposed to the peanut though. Just don't like the bug eyes (no offence to anyone that has one! Just not my forte!) Edit: Sorry, should of specified. I only live about a 10min drive away from my work, so it'll be to work and back daily. Family trips out and stuff we have diesel Qashqai. Might take it the STi out on weekends every once in a while for a nice drive.
  8. Might sound odd, but do you have by any chance one of the little switches? Car I'm looking at has a flip switch and I'm not a huge fan of it. Would prefer a stock button (with a light?) if it's possible...I have no idea if it'll even work...
  9. I could probably live with the grey if I'm honest...forged internals good. the tax on it though, my wife would go nuts if she knew! 😂 The leather is awful though! Yeah, I like the spec of the grey one if I'm honest. I just don't like the leather at all...and I'm not overly keen on the grey either. To be fair, I wanted white originally, but forgot how nice the blue/gold classic combo is. But yeah, I can't find anything bad review wise about JM. I've spoken with Juergen the Owner about it a few times now, and he seems genuine and said all his imports he's never had a engine fail and he wouldn't want this to be the first one to go. It's virtually all stock with a few little mods. To be honest, any car I get at the 9-10k range I'll be keeping as is (except for blue one as I want to put the gauges in pods, and I've seen some wind deflectors on the forum here I fancy) for a while until I can get more funds.
  10. No idea what the internals are on it. Personally, I'm not too keen on the leather either, but yeah it's typical isn't it! Think it'll cost more on the tax as well as it was registered after the March 2006 date. Way more mods than the blue one...12 month warranty though... http://tonygilbertcars.co.uk/listing/subaru-impreza-wrx-sti-spec-d-ltd-edition-hawkeye/ This is the blue one with the problems on the MOT...they were all fixed mind, and being an import they can't sell it if it was wrote off? http://jm-imports.co.uk/index.php/2006-subaru-impreza-gdb-sti-widetrack-6-speed-manual/
  11. I'm going to view it again and just ask if there was anything wrong with it when they imported it and see what he says. If he says no then I'll know he's lying and walk away and go look at the blobeye I've seen that's local. There doesn't look like there's been any damage done to it from the photos. And I don't remember seeing anything unusual when I first looked (although I didn't look that closely for that originally). There's a decent spec'd Spec D hawkeye up for £9,995 at a place called Tony Gilbert, but it's a bit of a drive. Looks like it's already had the rebuild work done as well...just a bit dubious of buying a car someone else has modified previously...plus it's grey.
  12. How much for the double din unit and this is going to sound odd, but also the I/C water spray button (unless you know if you can get blank ones? Car I'm looking at has a switch and I hate it...)
  13. I might be interest in those deflectors if you'll ship and I get this STi next weekend...
  14. Well, I've got my money sorted (once it hits the bank)...now just to make sure. Getting excited though, already started looking at little mods (splitter, rear diffuser, pods for gauges to move them).
  15. Spoke with a guy at the Subaru garage to price the timing belt kit and water pump (£650 and that included VAT) as I wasn't sure if the hawk eye I was looking at had been done. He was really helpful and said he ran one, and nothing came back in it probably because it was an import.
  16. Me three...glad I found that tidbit...is there a way to check vehicle history?
  17. Hmm what youse make of this?
  18. Haha there's an idea. It's 2k more...may as well just fork out another 1k and do the hawk eye 🤔😬
  19. Are they really that unreliable? If it was modden loads then that makes more sense? But even running stock maps and everything? Do the headgaskets go even if they've been replaced? What's this problem down to mostly, if anyone knows? What about problems with the 2Ls? Don't the bottom ends tend to go on them a bit more? He's got it up for £9k, said on the phone he thought it was well priced, which I'd probably agree, although I think I'd like to get it for £8k...the blob just south of me if up for £10k with 42k miles...AHHH decisions! Head says blob, heart says hawk!
  20. Haha I didn't even twig on that...late night though I suppose. Looked into those white ones, I don't trust them as they're from places that have terrible reviews. Spoke with a proper importer and he said to import one for £9k cost there, I'd be looking at £14k at least. Needless to say, I've went back to looking at the facelift 2.5L Type UK imported from Singapore again as I plan on keeping it fairly stock for a while. I just love the looks of the facelift! Whilst I like the idea of the JDM one, I love the look of the facelift and I don't think a white one is in my budget. Plus this one seems to be really reasonably priced. The guy seemed alright with whatever I wanted to do/look at and check out as well. Said they import cars all the time and he wouldn't of bought it if it wasn't up to scratch as he wants to keep his reputation (obviously). Said he's never had an engine failure yet, and he isn't wanting this to be his first. Said his mechanics have gone through it with a fine tooth comb and they've even reundersealed the car. It was extremely clean looking, even the rubber on the door jams were shiny still. Looks as though it had been kept to a high standard before. So any tips then for my second viewing other than watch them do a compression test (which he was absolutely fine with.) It's a widetrack
  21. Really nice looking mate. Tasteful and elegant. This is what I want!
  22. This white JDM one I just found says it's a 04 with DCCD. Didn't realise the JDM versions didn't have the burble. Not a killer for me. Prefer the stronger internals and quicker steering rack...and the white and gold combo 🙊 EDIT: Think it might be sold, but I've talked myself out of the 2.5L now and am going to start searching for JDM models... Actually, just out of curiosity, are all generations created equal for the most part? So 2nd generation 2000-2007 models (think I read that 06+ is a slight exception?) are the same chassis, just different facelifts etc.? Kind of like Honda? A EK Civic is anything from 96-00? So would say a 2005 wide track UK suspension fit on a 2004 JDM model?
  23. Yeah, I've read into them loads and the more I keep reading, the more the 2L seems the way to go. The tax is just ludicrous as well at £500 on the 2.5L. Shame really because I really like that 06 face lift! Do the 03/04'S have the DCCD? I've just spotted a white 03 JDM one and I've fallen in love 😍 love he white and gold combo! Only thing...it's in London... Anyone got more details on the JDM ones? I know forged internals from factory, the twin scroll turbo, they rev higher, smaller things such as electric, but not heated mirrors? Are they with the premium price tag? Cheers! Naturally, I will do! Just the small matter of convincing the wife to pull the final trigger! Where are you from? Seen a few people with WRX's about since I've started looking. Thank you 😁
  24. Hello everyone, My names Steve and I live in Newcastle in England. New to Subaru's and turbos cars in general. I'm looking at buying a used hawk eye STi, but I'm not totally sure on the prices I should be looking at. I've went and saw a clean import (from Singapore (can't drive fast there) but it's not JDM as it's a EJ25. Leads me think it's a Type UK as it also had EU/UK chassis number?), and the dealer is asking for £9k (has a few small mods, exhaust DEFI gauges) Is that reasonable for a dealer for one of these? I don't think it's had the timing belt, tensioner and water pump done either, which I was quoted at £650 from Subaru garage. The car has 81k miles on it and had two owners from new, and the second owner was a garage in Singapore. I've also seen a 04 plate fairly local from another garage for £10k, reflective on the 42k miles it has on it. Just wondering which is the better option as each have pros and cons (tax aka engine size being one). Also is there anything to check for when purchasing other than do a compression check for bad ring lands? Thanks for the help! - Steve
