Here's my contribution to knobbish driving this week, Bearing in mind it's on a 20 zone with two schools at the bottom of the street let alone the zebra crossing and cross roads.camera has issues focusing at night which is a shame. And new pitch stop is causing a bit more shake

Looking at buying a forester
Not a stupid question mate, we're all friendly and down to earth here, at the end of the day were all learning all the time so feel free to ask away, thats the best thing about this forum no one proclaims to be better than anyone else because they have had a subaru for x amount longer than other people. Anyway sls is the self leveling suspension unit on the rear of the forester, if you have a look underneath atvthe lower rear struts there should be something the size of a red bull can atached to it,

Looking at buying a forester
If I looks like a dog dragging it's bum along the floor when stationary it's seen better days. Sls units cost an arm and a leg most people swap them out for normal shocks and springs
-
Looking at buying a forester
Ah well good for at least another 100k [emoji51] rear shocks can be a bit troublesome if they are the sls units apart from that I've found them to be bulletproof

My mate had one when we were at school he was the **** ! 1.4 SR god knows how he got insured on it, managed to have a prang in it so went away to bodyshop, fixed it,parked outside said bodyshop a weekend of gales blew a chimney stack off the adjacent building and wrote it off too funny looking back but he was distraught at the time

go easy on me.
Is that just for ecu or does it include the handheld monitor thing ? You'll have to lift the carpet up in passenger footwell and undo the kick plate to find out what ecu pin configuration you have

Is it worth welding
I hate to say it but sounds a bit like a big end problem, does it do it at any other time ?

go easy on me.
Normally best way is to fit everything in the day of mapping then you shouldn't cause any problems, it's six of one and half dozen of the other though i've seen people with decats and no maps running fine. If you changed the air filter and decat ghats when you get more problems, they can cope with one or the other but not both, I'm in same boat as you really was quoted 650 for a board and map by the late jgm but other things have got in the way, You'll need to factor in another hundred quid for a fuel pump on top

go easy on me.
Savage is your man to speak to regarding the various options as he has used both esl and the apexi setups, Els boards cost about 300 new and are essentially another board inserted into the ecu to be able to map the classic impreza legacy & foz but it retains all the factory stuff as well, if you speak to esl or maybe duncan at race dynamix or andy forest they will be able to advise you on best plan of action, I was told not to drive hard on a decat with no map but i want for the sports cat route instead

go easy on me.
You need an esl board added to the ecu for it to be mapped or a standalone ecu like apexi or mines, decatted it will possibly have overboost or spiking problems, do you have a boost gauge fitted?

Need a v3 pipe, that one's slightly different I think

Literally just put a little pressure on the manifold eased it back a mm or two and the bolt slotted in. I guess cos the rest of the mounts are worn therewas excess play there

Having to make some more up as out of stock, I'm after a kit and a I/c to recirc valve hose too. The guys at sfs have been on holiday so a bit of a delay. They reckon all being well the week after next. I wanted to do it all at once but got bored waiting. Same with turbo blanket, sais In stock on website so I ordered one only to have an emal come back saying they are due in next week. Still it has to go under the tree any way. Did you have any issues with the pitch stop when you installed it ? Mines a couple mm shorter than the stock One so we had to ease the motor back before the lower bolt would slot home. No biggie though
