Prodrive kit on a 2.5XT Forester.
You'll notice a big difference more smiles and an engaging drive. :-) Standard forester x 160bhp Xt 225bhp Prodrive kit claims up to 250bhp and more torque, with remapped ecu ss exhaust and some other goodies. My first gen jdm foz was supposed to have around 240bhp when it came out of the factory. 17 years later it still feels fast enough. And pulls like a train. Obviously with the xt you'll have all the fun of a turbocharged all weather car. And the ability to stun people when they see how rapid the normal looking car is. The ride is comfy and you can push on to a degree, juat got to remember that it sits quite high off the floor so the centre of gravity is higher. An impreza it's not, wben it comes to the corners, I'm sure the standard x is a great car too and there are member on here who love them. But speak to anyone with a turbo'd car and they'll tell you the boost is addictive :-) I'd check service scheduals have stuck to and they have treated he car to reguar oil and filters, As for what to look for i'd take a look in the buying guide as it covers all subarus.

new exhaust clip
Got mine from a place in sheffield as the back box is a different length to the impreza, The 1st two sections are the same as the impreza, i may be wrong but your car has equal length headers so no signature subaru burble, you could change them to un equal length ones to get it (if i'm wrong someone will correct me) If you don't want to spend silly money maybe try the bay for some 2nd hand headers, as for the other sections i'm not sure, but most people start with changing the back box to get more sound :-) Once you start changing bits it's a slippery slope

Forester advice
Hello :-) Welcome to the club, Tyres seem to be a bit of a trade off between mpg/noise don't know weather thats due to being a reinforced tyre or not but i've not managed to find one that does both according to the ratings. To be fair i have two different brands on each axle both 'intermediate' price range which were on the car when i bought her, the noise isn't an issue as i find the sound proofing in the forester cabin to be excelent, so when i go for new sets it will be more towards the mpg side of things, tyre wear is good too. Oil i'd use the best you can find, try opie oils (trader on here) good advice and competitive price always has discounts etc. Mine runs on 10-40 semi synth, being slightly newer yours may be different i'd check the manual, As for adding a turbo you'd be better off buying a turbod car. As the amount of work involved is alot. just about everything on the engine needs to be replaced or added to. I'm sure youll be more than happy with your foz and if you do decide to start 'adding' bits 90% of the impreza bits of the same year fit.

where in Yorkshire are you from ?
Seeing as people travelled from far and wide to get to the recent meets just thought it would be a good idea to post your approx locations so we can get a rough idea as to where a central meet would be best. (Mainly for my benifit as i can't see peoples location while using mobile site). Ash, pommy and myself have been deciding weather to get a combined south/west yorks meet going so i'd like to see who's from where. And would help get the west yorks meets off the ground and bit easier for people to get to in rush hour traffic So, my location is slap bang in Leeds.

MAF or plugs?
Maybe try re setting the ecu may not be used to running on good fuel. You can also do a laymans test on the maf. Unplug the sensor while the cars running and it should stall if it's working ok. (Not an exact way of telling) if you have a multimeter could always test the resistance for a more accurate test

wheel info please
Thanks for this, still non the wiser i'm hoping to get a 2nd hand set of an 03 car. Do they have a fitment sticker on the inside of the rim ? My old watanabe's had. If so would make life easier i can see them and compare
-
wheel info please
So mine being 48 sit further out than the impreza ? Or is that the other way round ?
-
about my maf sensor
Go for the remap and get the maffless tune :-)
- How Fast Track days.

wheel info please
I'm not the most clued up person when it comes to 'rims' so need some help. Looking at going up an inch to 17"s the wheels are from a 03 impreza. I know i'll have to drop to a 50 profile tyre to take into account the bigger size. The bit i'm not really getting is the offset i think, Been told the impreza ones are 55mm and mine is 48mm so i'll need spacers 3mm should do. Or the rears will rub. Whats the deal with spacers, do they sit inbetween the hub and wheels ? Are there any cons to using them.
