Exhaust fitting questions
stants replied to BlackBosh's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
Haha no worries i need to see if it's going to be vaible and where would be a good location for everyone to meet for a start. It's all good both the lawnswood arms and fox and grapes on a64 are fairly friendly whwn it comes to car meets. mx5/vw ones take place at them so once i know who and where people are coming from i'll put some ideas forward -
Hi mate, were you the chap nick and i were taking to in martins office ? As usual i'm rubbish at introducing myself or getting peoples names :-)

Exhaust fitting questions
stants replied to BlackBosh's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
Haha good for getting rid of unwanted pets ! I was told not to mix the coolants as there's two types subaru use. I just topped up with de ionised water. It's due a full system flush next year anyway. My turbo always smells a bit for about 10secs after shutting down. Figured it was the oil warming down. I'm on about sorting a leeds meet out. How often you up here and any preference to days etc if your interested ? -
Exhaust fitting questions
stants replied to BlackBosh's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
I ran my car for over a week in the height of summer with nowt in. Turns out i had an airlock from when the belts were changed. Temp gauge never moved from normal position. I take it you have the header that sits up above the turbo to the left of the headers with the orange radiator cap on ? If thats still full you should be fine and just fill the expansion bottle half full keep an eye on it -
Exhaust fitting questions

New gaskets all the time for the sake of a few quid may as well renew save having to take everything apart again in 4 months to do a job you could have done while it was all apart inbthe 1st place. My expansion tank has a collar round the middle which seems to be the high mark when warm. Mine was empty a while back so filled it up to this and ran the car. It spat out waht i didn't need and now at cold it's about an inch below the collar. I did make a note of it with a marker on the side for future reference. -
Ill 2nd pete Virgin great broadband rubbish tv. Had sky for 10 years and virging for internet. Now moved, can only get virgin. The tivo box winds me up, sky is so much eaiser to use and the tivo remote has far to many buttons. Simple things you can do with sky remote require a degree in thinking outside the box for the tivo one grrr it's a pet hate i find myself not watching tv cos i can't be arsed fighting with the remote. Plus i don't have skysports anymore so not much on the virgin 'm' package. And i'm not paying £25 quid a month extra just so i can watch F1. Virgin technical help used to be a premium rate number that you got the cost of the call refunded on your next bill if the problem was thier fault. If you don't have the phone package. Rant over !

Cape verdi. Booked on a spur of the moment new years day last year needed some winter sun. 23-26 deg c all week. Loved it was the 1st all inclusive hoilday i've done. We went to the island of sal Not much to do outside the resort but i'd go again. A friend of mine booked one of the hotels on one of the other islands by concidence, said it was a bit more developed. And more to do. In summer they went to watch turtles hatching. Tiny island massive runway thought was a bit odd for a small commercial airport. Then saw the antonov 225 parked at then end of the runway :-)

At always shifts up before the redline like a granny :-) least with mt you can go right up to the limiter. With the engine mods on my 22b you can go all the way to 8.5k before running onto the limiter. Same with downchanges at can't go back through the gears quick enough into corners. One of the things i learnt when 1st playing is stop trying to drive like you would on the road and just bang it back through the gears as fast as you can. Can carry much more speed into the corners and let the engine help with slowing you down. Manual with clutch is so hard on the pad. I gave up trying after about 5 laps :O -
90% of impreza parts/procedures have worked & fitted so far so i guess it will be the same. Didn't know if there was anything inbetween the scoop and plastic bit that may pop off or get lost if i"m not ready for it
-
Does my scoop just unbolt from the engine bay or are there some sneaky little fasteners i should be made aware of? Off to be repainted next week :-) whoop !

Pete, just had a play around with the setups. And sent 2 back to you. Are you using manual or at transmission ? 1st one is your build with a slightly different tune. 2nd is a little tweak on tune. Slightly down on bhp but weighs a little less, but full race box. The gap between 3rd &4th gear may be a little long but it should be fast enough on 90% of tracks. Have a play and see what you think. -
Matt, as in decat downpipe sorry if stupid sounding question.no boost spiking ? I'm trying to find out if running a sports cat system will work without a remap. Things have gone a bit !Removed! up so my plans have changed so can only afford to get exhaust then wait for map. Seems to be lots of conflicting info about if safe enough or not. There should stil be enough pressure in between the turbo and cat to prevent spiking surely ?
-
Cheers, check out the site they do any colour lettering combo you want at no cost :-) was gonna ask for the soc logo but just thought i'd plump for what i got. How much you pay for tool ? Found some little dentistry tools in my local pound emporium that with a pair odf tweezers dis the trick. Just wish i could have been bothered removing it as my back was killing after !. Slightly off topic, matt did you say you ran a de cat with no remap for a wile with no problems ? Can't find my op

Mainly dress up stuff from lookong at site. I ordered a ic cover just wiating on him getting back to me with the cooling panel dimensions. I like the alternator shrouds they do too. And the scoop delete kit looks good but no use to me as no fmic
-
Will do i've taken a pic of the cooler before fitting and will leave it a couple of weeks lift off and see if theres any difference. The mesh is quite sturdy without being saggy so hopefully if any !Removed! does get ingested through the scoop should just sit on top and not pass through. Found a couple of twigs that had worked there way down into the core and had done some damage yesterday too :-( And if any numptie trys to stick a lance down the hole again i'm hoping it will soften the blow so to speak.
-
I was fed up with things attacking my fins, be it man or beast i wanted to keep it intact as when i bought her the cooler was virtually unmarked/damaged. An hour of teasing the fins back upright again and 30seconds to fit :-) After uming and ahhing i plumped from this from a rally-tech.com including shipping it was half the price of the ones i found in the uk ? Anyway after a slight hiccup with customs on their side was posted monday arrived yesterday. Communication form tim was spot on and i'd recomend them and will prob buy some more bits in the future
-
On a private plate between otley and harrogate. I'm never in my car when i see most of these. Feel like a tit flashing in me van haha !
-
Ordered some stuff from tim at rally-tech.com Invited him on here, and he's said if anyone ever wants to do a group buy just to let him know what quantities and products we'd like from them anf he'd sort out costings etc
-
Haha try in a luton van. Thats the only problem with the shop, it's location a stupod dead end at one end of road or a car park that tempts you in at the other before realising you have to pay to get out. They never have stock in that i want so only realy use it for the odd bit now and again. Shame really as should support, local shop for local people ;-)
