  1. She had no choice, had mx5 before so i told her, i needed something with a big boot, more seats and the ability to go anywhere in any weather. Her only stipulation was 'it has to look safe and not too fast' So glad the mises takes no interest in cars :-D

    brands of oil

Haha i'm in two minds what to do, so if i'm not at meet tomorrow i've blown the botom end due to not 'dry cranking' Ah no costco card :-( should really get one through work the pizza slices from there are tip top
  3. I can only dream ! She had more hair than me when she popped out :-)
  4. Six months in april :O Time flys
  5. Not sure if classed as selfie or photoboming my own rubbish attempt at a pic of my girl haha

    brands of oil

Surely with the engine having been run up to temp there will still be some oil kicking around as it wont have all drained down and with the filter pre oiled shouldn't make that much of a difference ?

B ought some fuchs stuff from opie using discount code plus shipping it was cheaper than anywhere else :-) Looking at info on changes (was assuming it was faily normal procedure) came across this You should then reach under the alternator and undo the crank sensor, shown here (it's fairly simple to spot and access):If you have difficulty reaching it you can unbolt the alternator etc but I had no issues.Once you've topped up the oil and disconnected the sensor, crank the engine until the oil warning light goes out (cheers Simon AKA Jolly Green Monster ).The engine warning light will probably come on too but once you've restarted the car 3 times it will go out without the need to remove the fault code with a reader ? Why would i need to do this ?
  8. Or there should be a caption saying 'shut it you slaaaaaag' !

Beat me to it jay :-) It's only going to be in there until service time june/july so i don't really mind as have no big trips coming up. I'll take a trip to asda as they had the castrol on offer the other day. Whats the deal with blue/black oil filters ? Some say black others say don't matter

I've been reading that subaru (turbo) engines dont like castrol ? But thats just the opinon of the internet i suppose, it's on the oipe page as a suitable match. So will be interesting to see, think you cars a bit newer than mine so i'vw been told to use semi stuff ?

Prob been done to death, the internet has brought up about 3000000 pages. So, gonna do an interim change, rather than spending loads on a new oil i have a 3/4 bottle of 10/40 castrol mag semi synth and half a bottle of 10/40 mobil super something or other fully synth at home both fairly new, was just goning to buy a smal 1l bottle and top up either one. Which brands do people prefer ? I've used both in the past and been happy opinions please :-)
  12. What year is your car & what engine code ? I'm not much help with the newer foresters, http://www.japanesecarimports.net/parts.asp?cat=96⊂=494&sec=1539&var=51&dc=y If your changing the turbo maybe these, turbo to cat pipe gasket and studs are down a bit like i say no idea if it will fit yours but if you call them they should be able to help with your enquiry using vin number, as for hoses it again depends on which one's gone ? And if your gona drain the coolant do you want to change them all ? (Once you start it's a slippery slope). I'll try and dig out wjere i bought my silicone hoses from
  13. Importcarparts.co.uk are cheap for gaskets, may be worth buying new studs and bolts if yours hasnt been removed for a while could be a pain to remove, last thing you want is to shear a bolt and have to wait. As for hose depends if you want to upgrade to silicione hose or not, plenty of ebay shops will sell you it by the meter, just measure the diameter 1st, you prob need some clips if you go down that route as they are normally thicker than standard. I presume you'll have to drain the system when you change the hose ? Someone with more knowledge will answer that i guess.
  14. Could be age of the coolant lines into the turbo? They do get hot as hell do you have the heatsheild on the turbo ? Or turbo gasket ? Mine appears to leak coolant slightly on start up just blows a little onto the back of the downpipe until the gasket's warm. It's being changed this week to stop it
  15. Haha like the b&w shot very moody !
  16. Being liquid cooled turbos, they are a bit of a waste, depends really on how you see it, my car takes a good 5-10mins to get warm and its a pain sitting around looking like your trying to steal your own car, least with a timer you can pop in on a cycle and go back in for a brew. Back ot. hello and welcome, :-) All i can say is until your used to the car and when it comes on boost plan your overtakes wisely !
  17. Yeah he wanted to know which ecu i had to be able to get the right esl board for it :-) just need to find the cash now. He was the only person who got back to me promptly, and was happy to answer all my daft queations so i'll be using him when the time comes even if he is a little bit dearer just because of the service he's already given me
  18. May be worth getting the code off the front off the ecu when you take a look save having to go back again at a later date, 1st thing simon asked me when i was enquiring about a remap was the version i have.
  19. see the white plug under the master cylinder,to the left, it attaches to the loom there i just unplugged it as it doesn't do much apart from tell you your onfire, mines been ok since, the dash light comes on at start up and goes off when it's supposed to:-)
  20. Didn't even see the thread . I wouldn't even use tie, gambit, and club in the same sentence :-D Seriously it's great to have been put forward to do this as like everyone is saying there's a fair few of us from yorkshire here so i'm looking forward to helping out when and where i can. Getting some regular meets going and generaly having some good banter. And all the road works on the m1 were starting to get on me !Removed! :-) (only joking ash) the chaps from sheff are a good bunch too, the last meet we had there about 20 people turned up. So if we can get anything like those numbers and a nice home base (Richard henry looks perfect) well done to pomny for sorting that one :-) it's gonna be a good 2014 I've just become a dad so if i can't get to some places/dates thats my excuse haha
  21. Just gone for sports cat and twin resonated centre section.3" all the way through, Sounds nice not overly loud no drone just a little burble at idle. (And i can her the turbo spooling up now) :-) I wasn't looking for major prefomance gains or something to wake the world up. I just didn't want to pay dealer prices to replace a dead exhaust. So far seems to be running well can t see any gains as to power (i wasnt expecting to be fair) Boost is falling withing the same ranges so no spiking or overspool. Only thing i'm not happy with is the 'all inc price' didn't include a new tubo gasket so i'll have to change that soon
  22. http://www.subarupartsstore.co.uk/category/Forester/Protection,b.html Front bullbar here
  23. Finally got time to take it for a wash, just need to get time to spend day on detailing at some point
  24. I'm more of a rubber/latex man myself sorry mate :O
