Scoobyghost Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 I've got my eyes on Duncan at race dynamix. He comes highly recommened at the minute. I've been to Surrey rolling road before too.
Jamina Posted February 24, 2015 Author Posted February 24, 2015 I contacted Duncan a while back, seemed like a nice guy - still haven't had remap completed trying to build funds since I got mine to get everything done the right way - can't remember if i spoke to surrey rolling road - I know i got a hell of a lot of rejections for my bug from mappers
Scoobyghost Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Really? How come? I'm the same building funds. It's not easy. I had to make a choice the weekend. I either get a remap or pay for my training that I need for work. Got the training [emoji20]
Jamina Posted February 24, 2015 Author Posted February 24, 2015 Good for you, training first mate anyday - get the training out the way so you can work and get even more money for the scoob! I was told by various people that it was too difficult and involved taking the ecu out, I was also told by various people that they did not have the software. Duncan and a gentlemen name Bob Rawle both offered to complete the remap and both came highly recommended in the end. Mr Rawle gave me some top rate advice on running the car and where to start on mods etc If i had the money I would go to Bob Rawle today but I don't so I will keep saving for the moment
Scoobyghost Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 The specialist seem to run away from the competetion when it comes to remaps. There will be just a couple of names floating about for the different regions. I was the same with Duncan. I spoke to him over the phone and he gave me a list and advice on where to start with. So I bought myself a 3 port boost solenoid and have my decat sat here waiting. Just need a fuel pump and panel filter then it'll be a case of save save save. What sort of outcome are you looking for power wise?
Jamina Posted February 24, 2015 Author Posted February 24, 2015 I want 260-270 bhp, I don't need any more in reality, not at the moment anyway - looking for a growl to pi$$ off the neighbours (joking), No im looking for a as loud a growl I can get for my own personal preference without the hassle of decat, (not lucky enough to know an mot place that will just chuck it through) Just love the sound of a burble But yeah power wise I will be happy stage 1 - which is lucky really becuase it means that I don't have to do too much saving...
Scoobyghost Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Yeah in that respect I'm very lucky to know my mot tester. Been a family friend for pass 15 years now. I got the same figure in my head. Aiming for the 270 I'll be well chuffed. Even as mine stands at 211 it get lively when it can see the rain.
Jamina Posted February 24, 2015 Author Posted February 24, 2015 I think mine may have lost a few ponies in it's life but it still gives me a buzz ;) been told the 260-270 mark is easily achievable but that is from people with a lot more money than me :L
Scoobyghost Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Mines on 160000 so no doubt it's lost a fair bit. My mate bought an astra vxr the weekend and I can keep up with that so can't be all bad. They run a 2.0 turbo but have 240bhp standard.
Jamina Posted February 25, 2015 Author Posted February 25, 2015 I wonder if yours has had a little work done in the past then? Mine is a standard car bar the prodrive back box - 160K and still pulling hard tells you everything you need to know about the faithful scoob!
Scoobyghost Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 It has a lot of history and nothing shows work just an sti rear box.
quit Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 its not all about full out power / bhp willy waving figures astra vxr is 240bhp... but !Removed! they are heavy! Air con etc drains power, all those electrics drain power etc
Scoobyghost Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Yeah I know all to well about that. Keep bragging about my old punto everywhere else [emoji38] I never run on book figures. Real conditions never match that of a wind tunnel and rolling road. [emoji106]
quit Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 yeah like that bmw i8 on top gear and its MPG claims
Scoobyghost Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Yes! Torque is the answer. People gloss over it too much.
@lex Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Hi Jamina, I went for a red as well as you don't see many if any about! Lovely deep colour, especially after a wash and wax! Not that far from you, just past Portsmouth! 1
Jamina Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 I agree, one of the less common colours that really dazzles after a good wash although there is something pure about a muddy scoob :D maybe we will cross paths at a meet... 1
JusNoGood Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Duncan remapped mine. I got 272bhp with Prodrive back box, Pipecross panel filter and fuel pump. The power improvement did make a difference but I think the biggest improvement was the smoothness. Just a lot nicer to drive now [emoji3]
Jamina Posted March 2, 2015 Author Posted March 2, 2015 Well Duncan if you are reading this - I would like 272 bhp...i don't have cash but I do have a scoob - will you help a scoob in need? forget red nose day - lets make this year red scoob day
