seventune
There is a bit of adjusting to do but the vent is just sitting in there at the moment.
seventune
So then. Electrical gremlins are a real pig. But ever cloud has a silver lining. As you know the car is fitted it an AlcaTek ECU. I have been trying to get them to talk to me about making some changes to the ecu for absolutely months. Eventually I decided to not have any changes made to the ecu and just buy a proper one buy in the mean time just get it mapped for the current mods. Anyway reinstalling the loom and engine this time has unearthed an underlying electrical issue. It's started with sensor ground wires carrying 8volt live feeds. Which I traced back into the loom then the ecu. Once that was sorted other singles appeared to be incorrect. The loom that had seen far better days before I had even got into looking for the faults. After finding bare wires, doggy taped up and crimped connections I was time to start fresh. Given the lack of contact and lack of support from AlcaTek I decided that if I was building a new loom it wouldn't be for that ecu. So I bought this instead Nice Syvecs S6 :) Few other little bits got done whilst I was waiting for the Syvecs. Bonnet is now finished and ready for paint Finally got around to painting and fitting the STI 6 spoiler. I was hoping to paint the front bumper today but the weather is looking a bit bad. Also got all the water system back in the bay and thought I'd treat the turbo to a cozy blanket All the bits for the loom are ordered. Hopefully all be with me next week and I can look towards actually driving the old girl :)
seventune
Started getting the power steering in. Buried it in behind the front bumper on the drivers side. Its an electric MR2 pump. Will be interested to see how it works. I also found some grot under there so sorted that out too while I was there. need to add to the bracket and some extra support as its a heavy pump. Grot: Pump: Grot fixed and pump in place (but not finished)
seventune
So added some extra support to the power steering brace. It's now all ready for wiring. As it's sitting up in behind the front bumper I just mig'd it up a bit brashly. Does the job. So that ended up down here like this Now slight chance on the fueling front. I was going to run 8 injectors long term (still might) but in order to get a few more functions out of the Syvecs I have changed the 750cc RC injectors for some bigger Bosch units that I have 'borrowed' from the RX7 build. Just given how long I've had them I bought a refurb pack and gave the a bath Mid cleaning So onto the next job.....
seventune
Couple of trivial bits on the go while I'm sorting out the wiring loom plugs and pins etc... First thing was to get a set of late model individual coils. Hopefully this should help with the performance and if nothing else makes for a nicer tidy engine bay in loosing the mid mounted coil pack and bright red HT leads! net result without the coil in there.... much neater The other thing I have been poking around at is the lights. I have seen a couple of the version 5/6 cars with modded blacked headlights. I think it look very cool so I have set about doing mine. There was another small issue to tackle too. As I have the oil cooler one side of the front bumper and the power steeing pump the other I have removed the indicators and little black plastic infill from the bumper. My decision was to move LED indicators into the side light housing whilst blacking them. I used a set of LED bike indicators. Started with these: Then did this: Threw them in here: And wayhay: So with the indicstors and side lights in the one housing I can set about ducting the cooler and pump :D Oh and here is a painted pair next to the pair I'll be doing in the morning
seventune
No way , it was your build that inspired me to mount the turbo this way, Came across it last year while surfing but lost it and gave up looking for it, Must say you got some good fabricating skills and im lovein the hard lines... I see you've removed the servo , think I might struggle with the down pipe on the master cylinder fingers crossed , Looks mint fella well there you go. I bought the build to you :) Goodo. Glad to spur someone else on to do it a little different. If id have used a smaller turbo the servo probably wouldn't have been an issue to be honest. Was more an excuse to run a pedal box :D
Jay762
Cracking thread - some great solutions there making the best of the space - I was going to mention engine movement working against the turbo support bar on the bulkhead but as you moved it to the block - no need :). Have you considered a bulkhead mounted military type connector for the loom - similar to gobstopper 2 - as it gives a break point that could help fault finding? genuinely enjoyed reading this - thanks for sharing! seventune
Wasn't the best way to get the thread up but it was the only way I could get the pics up? Would have prefered not to chop about old posts from another forum. Oh well. It's good to get different views on what's been done so I'm happy to share build. I had thought about it yes. Not sure if I will or won't yet decent ones are pretty pricey. I've only just planned the loom out so will order all the bits next week to start getting it done as I've still not got around to ordering the wire.
stants
Top thread love all the fab & machine work makes me wish I hadn't listened to my careers advisor in school and gone with what I wanted. So many nice shiny things to pour over, what kind of figures are you wanting to get out of her when she's run in & mapped ?

seventune
Great project thread going to pin it :D Cheers dude. Top thread love all the fab & machine work makes me wish I hadn't listened to my careers advisor in school and gone with what I wanted. So many nice shiny things to pour over, what kind of figures are you wanting to get out of her when she's run in & mapped ? To be honest it's more about what hp it makes for the boost. I'm limited on 2 factors. It's a daily driver once it's completed and all its a pinned engine. I'm expecting to be able to run 1.6 ish bar of boost comfortablely on the pinned block. So what ever it makes is what ever it makes. Because I don't have an unlimited budget to go and buy all new bits that will work harmoniously together I've have to buy bits to work what what I had. Like the turbo etc. So I'm not sure really. See where we are once it's on the rollers.
turbotomo
What oil clearances did you go with for the mains and rods?
Jay762
chum glad you took the time to re post from an existing thread as Im not a big forum user so this is something I would have missed :)
seventune
chum glad you took the time to re post from an existing thread as Im not a big forum user so this is something I would have missed :) No worries dude. It's probably ended up with a few more details in doing that way over starting fresh. What oil clearances did you go with for the mains and rods? Can't remeber off the top of my head fella. It was what ever RCM suggested with the ACL and EJ257 crank combo. The motor has been built for a while now.

seventune
This is a properly bad **** turbo kit we're doing for a guy abroad. It's a GTX42 again, twin Tial MV-S gates and one of our billet race charge coolers We do street stuff too. This is a GT30 powered GSX1400. With 8 injector conversion. Oh. And our bike
savage bulldogs
Tbh I'll never buy a fast bike as I prefer a bit of metal around me but those things ain't bikes ...... They're 500 hp + scud missiles
Jay762
some lovely fabrication and build work there, quality stuff
seventune
:D cheers guys, and I agree fella. I'll take my fun in the car thanks. The last low boost run we did on the shop busa it made 618hp at the wheel and it was decided that the gearing in the box was wrong so we're now waiting on a 4 speed billet gear kit for it. Than we can load it up on big boost.
stants
What kind of mad man takes a bike already capable of cracking the double ton and decides he wants to strap a whopping great blower onto it to get there even faster ??? [emoji16]
