Youngy
As above yesterday my car was running really nice with no issues but today I went to get it out the garden and it would only run for 5 seconds then cut out but it would start straight away but cut out again, but now I went to get it back into the garden and it wouldn't start at all so what are people's opinions coz it's got me puzzled thanks in advance
Scoobyghost
Any cel?
GeoffLeggy
First thing Id check off is that I had juice in it! Sounds silly but...... Then if you can hear the fuel pump priming? See what cel result is as above.
Youngy
I made sure there was fuel in there first,I put £7 in it and no the cel light isn't on and I can hear the pump when I first turn the key but I'm 95% sure it's fuel starvation
GeoffLeggy
Would be my first thought. Check no connections have come loose eg maf Suppose youd get light though?
Phillip1993
Not if the light has poped

kayzarh
Id say check your crank cam sensors and then check for spark. both the cam and crank sensors, no need to remove anything, just use some agility and test it with a multimeter in ohms mode. Camshaft sensor is here; Crank sensor is here ; Camshaft real life: Crank sensor real life:
Mr B
^ Sounds likely pump will initial prime with ignition on but will only power when engine cranking & reading the sensors for this, if sensors test ok check wiring connector harness . Review immobilizer circuit too as many (pending how wired in) cut pump trigger but not the prime trigger & had a few cars over years with sticky/failed relays in immobilizer modules . Youngy
Thanks for all that I will be checking them in a bit and I will post back soon
Youngy
Right I checked both sensors and they are fine I also took the fuel pipes off the filter to make sure the pump is pumping and it is and I don't think it's the maf because it would start even if it was knackered because Iv left it off before, when turning it over it does want to start but it just don't so I haven't a clue what it could be
Beags
Sounds like immobilizer as it tries to start but won't. Sent from my SM-G357FZ using Tapatalk
Youngy
How do I check that one then
kayzarh
Do you have Aftermarket or stock immobiliser? Have you done a spark test? Sent from my MX4 Pro using Tapatalk
Scoobyghost
How did it run when it was running for those few seconds?
savage bulldogs
When you start it then it stalls, will it start up straight away if you prime the pump again by turning the key back to 0 and turn the key to start it again ? Have you checked the vac line to the fuel pressure regulator ? As it might just be starting on the initial pump prime and surge in pressure. If the fpr is ok it does sound like something is cutting the "constant " power to the pump that it should have when running .
Youngy
It has a stock alarm on it and it ran perfect just for those seconds but I haven't checked the vac line but it isn't staring at all anymore but I did take the fuel line off at the filter then turned the car over and it filled a bottle up within seconds so I don't think it's fuel related anymore
Youngy
And it did start up straight away after cutting out but it did have to go to 0 position
savage bulldogs
Have you got any codes on the ecu ? checked all relays and fuses both under the bonnet and under the drivers side kick panel . If you've been running it low on fuel did you take the fuel line off after the fuel filter or before (could the filter be blocked)
kayzarh
ill do a little brainwaving tomorrow and try to post some ideas.
Youngy
Iv checked all fuses and relays under bonnet but nowhere else and I took the fuel lines off both sides just incase but Iv been reading and I'm sure it's a immobiliser problem
kayzarh
I'm sure someone here can help you do an immobiliser bypass but are you 100% sure it is that? Sent from my MX4 Pro using Tapatalk
savage bulldogs
Did you check the fuse box behind the plastic trim next to the accelerator peddle?
