I wouldn't say no to one if it's been rebuilt but only with right internals like Tidgy said earlier.

It will be typical you find the perfect mechanical but dont like the colour!

No idea what the internals are on it. Personally, I'm not too keen on the leather either, but yeah it's typical isn't it! Think it'll cost more on the tax as well as it was registered after the March 2006 date. Way more mods than the blue one...12 month warranty though...

This is the blue one with the problems on the MOT...they were all fixed mind, and being an import they can't sell it if it was wrote off?

I'd be keen on that, got the forged internals. Shame it's not the look for you .   Hear you on the leather though.

Fyi TDR would be on my list for a rebuild.

I could probably live with the grey if I'm honest...forged internals good. the tax on it though, my wife would go nuts if she knew! 😂 The leather is awful though!

To be fair to jm imports, they have a very good reputation.

That grey one sounds way better though; only downsides being tax and colour

Yeah, I like the spec of the grey one if I'm honest. I just don't like the leather at all...and I'm not overly keen on the grey either.

To be fair, I wanted white originally, but forgot how nice the blue/gold classic combo is. But yeah, I can't find anything bad review wise about JM. I've spoken with Juergen the Owner about it a few times now, and he seems genuine and said all his imports he's never had a engine fail and he wouldn't want this to be the first one to go. It's virtually all stock with a few little mods. To be honest, any car I get at the 9-10k range I'll be keeping as is (except for blue one as I want to put the gauges in pods, and I've seen some wind deflectors on the forum here I fancy) for a while until I can get more funds.

Lets go back a stage a mo/ Is it gonna be a daily drive or weekend toy?

Do you specificly want a hawk cos you like it or was thats cos where the budget seemed to be?

Daily driver mate for time being. Only just managed to convince my wife to let me get one, so can be shoving mods in her face straight away haha! Gotta work into them slowly 😉 Been out of the car scene since I met her really and moved to the UK. I want a hawk because I really like the looks of it, not totally opposed to the peanut though. Just don't like the bug eyes (no offence to anyone that has one! Just not my forte!)

Edit: Sorry, should of specified. I only live about a 10min drive away from my work, so it'll be to work and back daily. Family trips out and stuff we have diesel Qashqai. Might take it the STi out on weekends every once in a while for a nice drive.

Fair enough, weekend toy classic RA would be the best, but not ideal for a daily.

For that sort of money blob widetrack would prob be your best option, borderline JDM money

Yeah, seem to be hard to find though. The blob with 42k on it in Bishop Auckland wasn't a "wisecrack" 😉😂 but yeah...I did see one, but £10k and canny far drive down South. Couldn't find any info on the garage either which is a bit disconcerting considering it's in Bradford...

and another, but again, seems like a dodgy garage when I've checked it out.

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/subaru/impreza-sti/fresh-import-jdm-subaru-impreza-sti/5210977

another, but can't find any info on the garage at all...

I don't particularly want to drive ages away to get one either...seen a white JDM 03 up for £11k, but private sale. Would prefer a dealer where I can get a slight warranty and take it back if problems arise (saw someone picked one up and the whole thing blew less than 50miles from home. Private sale, lost all his money.)

i mean theres cars cars out there, like this http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/subaru/impreza-sti/-fresh-import-sti-jdm-forged-twinscroll-dccd/6322040 but I just don't trust that. I looked at importing one myself and spoke with Juergen and he said £14k to bring one over easily...

walk away from anything in bradford. i noticed clives performance has changed name again ca performance or summit like that

Exactly. That's the place I've read absolute horror stories about. CA Performance is the new name? Good to know.

There's a place called Hurst in Bedfordshire, bit of a drive, but reviews came back good (even someone on here from about a year ago). Shame the white one doesn't have the larger spoiler on it!

http://www.hurstcars.co.uk/used-cars/search-results?page=2&model=IMPREZA&make=SUBARU&maximumPrices=11000&vehicleType=cars

Actually don't mind the grey on this one...maybe it's the alloys on that other one? Just a tad high for me though on the price...actually quite fancy this one...

Unless i'm not remembering right, but im pretty sure the pictures on CA's adverts are the same building and locations as Clives use. Given how often they change there name is a good bet.

Yeah...I'm not even entertaining that one. Think it's going to be between the silver JDM one there at Hurst and the blue Type UK at JM Imports if I'm honest...I'm really torn...

Blue Hawkeye

Pros:

Hawkeye, blue colour, mostly OEM, probably £1k on DEFI gauges, near location, price, burble, reputable garage.

Bad:

2.5L, not sure about timing belt?

Silver Peanut

Pros: JDM (and all the goodies), 2L, looks all OEM

Bad:

Higher price than I was looking for originally, no burble, not entirely sold on the colour (would prefer white or blue), extremely far away, not sure on timing belt

Aye mate, it's from Singapore I believe he said. 2.5L Type UK hawk eye registered in Feb. of 06 so it's actually on the smaller tax band as well. I was just curious about the front lip as I've seen some with and some without. Figured it might of been a factory option. Not sure on the fog lights though, I thought all the STi's came with the covers and the pink STi stickers on them? Unless the fogs are a factory option as well? I don't mind them in all honesty, just use to seeing the covers on them. Just asking the experts 😉 What does a non-import hawkeye Type UK cost roughly? Is that a decent price?

It's up for 9 isnt it? i just cant get my mind off the 2,5 issue tbh, i;d wanna sort the rods, pistons head studs out straight away which would work out roughly 4k + vat

Yeah it is mate. How prevalent is the issue? Is it only on modified ones, or is it even from the factory like that?

Figured it's that price as apparently in Singapore they have to scrap or pay a fee to keep cars over 10 years old.

All the 2.5 suffer from it, even the newest model (despite what some people claim, clinic hav already had 3 2015+ cars in with ring land/headgasket failures). Also seems to make no difference regarding tune. Exact numbers are unknown, but its very common indeed.
