Yes, as a teacher and designer, Ive gone back to buying a completely standard 54 wrx...pickup Saturday. Full Subaru history and plain jane. Not to impress the kids, wife - solely due to the burble lurv and becoming an official mid-life sucker.

Just moving from a ronda-da-honda and 330ci in the last year. What had got me, life on the road became like cold porridge, lumpy, start-stop and not excitement; idiots in fancy bmws and golfs cutting - not forgetting the vauxhall crew. Albiet, the 330 was punchy, but hella of problems. So as far as the story goes, wanted a completely standard wrx, to learn, develop and finally monsterize - a sleeper. Yes, im a DT teacher so will have my tenon saw ready :()

live in leicester, looking for advice, tips, parts, mechanics, furry dice and some local people to occasionly link up and compare exhaust sounds; whilst sipping earl-grey and nibbling scones or a decent chilli kebab. Need to up our image game from a chav club to connoisseurs in visual aesthetic and resonance gentry. I do say.

Goto go- still have a few hundred youtube exhaust tunnel videos and drifting in snow vids to soak in.

Thinking of a modification list from standard-up. Ideal is to hit 270-300 bhp in next 12 months, calmly without remortaging the house and dumping myself at skoobyworld - like a green eared muppet.

Let me know which ones to go for; remember im a teacher - secondary. Cant get my kids at school following me home; or tracking my burble - one mod at a time and then in one summer to blast the lot of them at the bus-stop before I find a new school.

peace and respect

Got the car yet? How's the burble?

If looking for exhaust parts and comparing prices it's always good to check out eBay.com opposed to eBay.co.uk, sometimes even with postage from the US it could still be a good price.

Think it was only around £150 for my stainless (non turbo) manifold from the US

(Just rechecked the same sellers page, now says £75 for manifold £37 for postage, end of last year I paid $167)

Got the car yesterday - very dirty. Like not driven for months.  Burble is very quite. Drove a hundred miles and seemed ok. I did see some oil residue around engine, looks like a leak somewhere. Could also smell it after. Generally speaking is ok. Will get try find a decent subaru specialist mechanic to generally do a check. I think the first mod has to be a Bov valve and catback exhaust- question is resonated or nt. Mmmm.

thanks mark for the suggestions. Uk is hard place to get mod parts.

Not hard, but sometimes you could get a better deal from the US , my exhaust part was a replica and so can save a bit of money.

Some burning smells could come from a split cv spraying grease on your exhaust
