Hello everyone

In 2001 when I was 20 I bought a impreza turbo 2000 mica blue. Kept it for 5 years then unfortunately had to sell it because of running costs. Always regretted selling it (have a picture on my wall). Then I was playing about on eBay as you do and looked for Impreza turbo, third from the top here was my old impreza turbo for sale in York, I mean what are the chances of that? Well I drove down and bought it. Its only done 40k in the 10 years been serviced every year, new clutch, gear box, radiator and turbo. It looks just how it did when I sold it. It does need a bit of work done on rear but i guess thats a common problem?

Any just thought I'd introduce myself.

Cheers

I'm about 3 hours north of York, ever heard of a town called Langholm? I bought the car from Autopoint.

You wouldn't believe how excited I was to find it. Its still got the same smell, some fond memories haha 😆 do you know if there is a manual on here or can you buy one? I have noticed Haynes don't do one 😕

Nice motor. Wish I could find my old 205.. but glad I've got a 2000 turbo! Rot is common, main areas are rear arches, fuel filler pipeand rear bumper bracket.. I've had to sort them all out. Rear arches I had done at a garage but they could do with being compleatly cut out and new replacement patches put in. Take the drivers rear wheel off and the plastic cover that protects the pipe / collects the crap behind it so the pipe can rot... very annoying! Look up where the number plate is with a torch and see what state the brackets are for the lights and also the light weight bumper bracket that holds the top of bumper on, if it was anything like mine it will be rotten. £175 off Subaru for the brackets and a quid each for the clips to hold it on.

The sills need done, arches aren't too bad, but then again they aren't good either. The bracket that holds the number plate light may as well not be there haha. I need to find someone whos good are repairs. Can anyone suggest a good bodyshop? Fuel filler pipe looks pretty iffy.

If the number plate bracket is rotten then the light weight bumper bracket will be shot too. Ring Gary at Stan palmer Carlisle. 01228525051. They aren't that bad to do if you fancy attacking it yourself. Am am sure about body shops up the A7, best one I'd suggest is Penrith body repairs or the body shop at Appleby. Bit of a trek for you but a decent job is worth traveling for.

Cheers Mattb, my sister lives at Appleby so might give them a ring. I'm happy to travel, just want it done right. I used to get it serviced at Stan palmer back when i owned it originally. It could probably do with a right good going over. Can't wait for some nice weather 😁

Am waiting for April then I'll tax mine. I've got some bits and peices to do on it yet. I used to live at Appleby but now I've moved to Tebay. I still use Stu for body repairs though, he's spot on to deal with.

  • 1 year later...

Well almost 1 year on and car isn't ready.

I was let down but a local guy which I waited nearly 8 months for.. Annoying.

Found another guy to do the work and his quality of work looks really good.

He did laugh when he saw how bad it was underneath, he asked if I thought it was worth repairing haha what a silly question 😆

Its been away 3 months to get all rust fixed/replaced and a full respray. So far the car is nearly welded up but haven't seen it again yet. So much for being rust free like the advert said when I bought it haha..

Hopefully she will back beginning of next month ready for the summer. I did tell the guy in January that there was no rush I just wanted it done right.

Once I see it welded up I'll stick the photos on.
