Hi All,

i am wondering if anyone can help me, I have read the rules and think I'm ok to post this as I'm not selling anything but more of a what should I expect.

I brought an 06 Impreza 4 years ago and absolutely loved the car at the time but over the last year my circumstances changed and fuel economy became an issue for me.

I am now looking to sell it but realistically I don't know if I can and just wanted your views on how bad it is and what to expect in terms of offers.

-bodywork is in general condition, few scratches from car parks and stone chips

-Ecu is throwing up a MAF sensor error which Subaru quoted 500 to repair

-As of today it stalls on startup unless throttle is used even then it has a rough idle but seems to drive ok (lags a bit in 3rd sometimes)

-rear headlight levelling sensor is snapped

-exhaust mount needs welding

it has recently had 4 new tyres, all be Brembo pads and discs fitted as well as a new fuel pump.

I love the car but can't afford to run it or fix it right now. Is it worth anything or is it aching to go to the scrapyard.

apoligies if it is in the wrong forum or not allowed, please delete if not appropriate.

thanks for reading

The little black part on the passenger wing is missing as someone scraped the bumper and I had a new one out on but they are messing me about trying to get that part.

Has a private number plate but wasn't sure if it was ok to put on with it showing?

edit- it's getting on 93k(ish) miles

Your MAF sensor error - 500 seems rich! Have you tried cleaning it (contact spray cleaner)? Is it running a K&N filter?

I haven't yet it was on my list of things to do but after it cutting out on me and then not idling without throttle on the first startup and low revs I just feel like chucking the thing in now.

nope it is all stock more or less as far as I know, nothing looks out of place under the hood

Welcome, as mamba has said 500 is a bit steep to get the maf fault fixed and the car is definetly too good for the scrap man, try importcarparts for a new one or eBay for a good 2nd hand one and fit it yourself as its not a hard job if you know how to use a screwdriver, for the sake of 60-100 quid it would be a shame to get rid of it

Thanks Stuartie, I might try to get it sorted then sell it, i went from an office job to one with lots of travelling to and through and I'm getting through 30-40 quid a week in full.

yeah I forgot to mention the drivers side window isn't working and they wanted 750 to get a new motor and fix it lol

i will probably just stick it on eBay with a reserve of 1800 or something, appreciate the replys though, cheers :)

750 to fix an electric window 😲😲 thats a bit of a joke, find youself a decent local garage and get them to do it probs for under half the price, also £1800 seems a bit cheap to be honest i've just seen one exactly the same age and colour on the bay thats accident damaged front and rear for £3500

I know, when they told me over the phone I was in shock lol.

I may may see how it drives after I do the MAF and see if fuel consumption gets any better, thanks for the advice :)

Reason I asked about the K&N filter is if the previous owner had fitted one, and oiled it/never cleaned it etc it could have messed with the MAF. Sort the MAF, check the air filter and your idle/running could well improve.

Sorry I haven't replied sooner, work has been manic.

my step dad is gonna have a look at it this weekend with me, he said I could do with maybe changing the spark plugs too, I brought some  maf cleaner today for it.

I am based down in the south east near Hastings.

i think I am going to part with it after all this lol. Thanks though guys, I appreciate all your help, wish I found this place a lot sooner
