New member got my first Impreza
Its a good days work the first time, clean the underside completely, every nook and cranny and then dry it. The apply undercoat, then need spraying over every few years. Not much work really but a good investment. Just like painting its all about the prep. Minimal use should and garaging should keep it ok.

Pretty damn good for a 18 year old. Good about the rust too, would probably be worth getting some rust protection on the bottom if you are going to be using it regularly and not having it in a garage, probably worth it either way really, just take you some time but can be done cheap enough. And a great investment in the future and longevity of the car

wagon turbo2000 1998
I don't have much experience with turbo failure but I know a rattle isn't a good sound, rattle when low revs and low spool and then going fast it could still be there but you don't hear it or it could be something loose that gets forced against the side and spins with the turbo. Hopefully someone with some more knowledge will come. And a recording will help I imagine.

I have turbo 2000 and easily quicker than a 320d so definitely an issue there. Sounds like it could a boost leak so check all the places Matt suggested.

Urgent help to confirm how rare my Legacy Series I vehicle is!
Ahh well they are perfectly within their rights to find a similar model to compare it to. And that's all they have to do. What model is down on the policy exactly? If it is down as just a standard legacy then they only have to value it against that, if it has the full details then I assume they have to value it against that.

Steering issue
New discs pads and calipers put on together. So shouldn't be warped.

Steering issue
Stanton - I have checked it and all seems good Gambit - Had stuck calipers on both sides and replaced them so know its not that. And watched them balance and check it all and it all seemed good to me.

Urgent help to confirm how rare my Legacy Series I vehicle is!
Well this has taken a turn again, however assuming that you have your policy documents which state the agreed value of your car they have to stick to it, even if it was a mistake on their part they have agreed to a contract and you have kept up with your payments on this contract and the other parts of the contract. As for dealing with the other companies it is not your issue, you signed a contract with your insurer then they are the people you have to deal with, you have not made an agreement with any other company (unless of course you have.) I would phone the insurance company, inform them that they have made a contract which they have to uphold, and if they don't then they will be hearing from your solicitor. Give them reasonable time to respond and then go and see a solicitor. They don't have a leg to stand on if you have told us everything. And what is the point of insurance when they make it so pointless, anytime you claim they try not to pay anything out, they then push up your renewal even if you claimed as no fault of your own, the majority of accidents are never even claimed, even if above the excess amount because of the increase in renewal. It's meant to be there to protect you and help you and hence why we pay so much for it, yet we all try and avoid using it even when we should because of situations like this. Rant over. As for the pictures you cannot attach them in 'quick reply' you have to click the more reply options right next to the post button and then it should be fairly straightforward. Or you can use a hosting site like photobucket and do it that way. Hope this was of some help mate.

Steering issue
Has been a while by the looks of them. How would I check if the rack was worn? Never done it before so not sure.

Steering issue
Well I have had a little issue for a while which I want to get sorted in the next few weeks. At 60 and above the steering wheel has been wobbling, when turning it feels like the steering is pulling back against me slightly. I had the wheel's balanced and that helped a tiny tiny bit but still problems. The steering rack boots are worn through which is 1 option (have new ones to fit but not the time yet) the other option in my head is the steering rack bushes could be worn. Could these be causing my symptoms?? Or is there anything else to check?? Any advice welcome. Thanks

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Well yesterday had the usual S-line tailgate me, pulled away with ease from him, then got on the dual carriageway and was cruising about 65 overtaking a lorry when I see the Audi tailgating the car behind me until it moved, then sat a mile behind me until I moved over to let him go. Was fairly funny think he learnt his lesson. The had an admiring nod from a yaris driver, very happy when I revved the engine in traffic. So a decent day overall. Having the wheels balanced today to try and sort out the steering wheel vibration.

faint chatter noise
I don't have any clue but maybe a recording would help if you could get one, so people could hear the noise.

2014 impreza exact release date?
The new dealer on the forum said they would have them in 7-10 days, that was on the 29th so probably mid-end of next week mate. So you might be a week to early unfortunately.

Hey mate and welcome to the club. Glad you found somewhere goo to get work done and that its driving well. I found the same when I did the first oil and plugs change. Unless you know what your doing with the alarm I would take it to an auto electrician, nothing worse than buggering the alarm, and if it has an immobilizer you could be left stranded. Did you get it fitted yourself or was it the previous owner? If you know who fitted it I would take it to them and get them to fix the problem that they caused. I don't have a Clifford alarm but haven't heard any stories like that before.
