V5 / v6 uk turbo 2000 by the look of it [emoji6] Also looks like it's been someone's pride and joy , nice find
-
I think we've been lucky not to have seen any scammers on here tbo , but I would either know who I'm dealing with (if not check their profile post count) or ask for a ebay link To try to avoid being tucked up. It is a shame that there seems to be a lot more of 1post cars for sale adds with people parting company with their subarus . Rather than posts with shiny bits for sale to improve and maintain your scoob . Something seems to be working for me as it's the only club im fully paid up with[emoji106]

Yeah I looked into twin scroll on a 2ltr you need twin scroll sump , dipstick, oil pick up, headers, upipe , downpipe and turbo . Imo it's not worth it without avecs heads to get the most outta the conversion anyways . Just a case of idle hands for me as my project hasn't moved for a while . How's your running in going ash ?
-
Yeah that's the general opinion for the 48 , but I wanted it for spares to play with [emoji6] Just thought if I can find out the exact size's I might be able to make a hybrid with a bigger 48 inlet turbine then bolt n balance a smaller 2ltr exhaust housing to it . You know me bud I like to play and make things work a bit different [emoji4] Hence not wanting to pay to much in case it won't work and I end up with a £150 paper weight [emoji5]

No problem fella , we like to help if poss The 93 jdm didn't have abs and there's 3 different types of outer cv's on the classics alone, but the inner gearbox stub axles remain the same till 04 Im unsure if the splines are the same on the drive shafts themselves, but your bug shafts will be the same lenght (from inner cv to outter cv) and will fit onto the 93 boxes stub axles . In other words just use the whole bug shafts /cv's. The main difference between the rear diffs is ratio and "R" number. With the hubs it's the "R" number and outter cv that differs . R160 classic /newage uk turbo and wrx R180 97 sti's to newage sti's (slightly stronger) the jdm shorter ratio's do make them rev high on the carriage way so you'll probably notice a bit of a dip in mpg . The only thing that I'm not 100 % sure about is the inner rear cv's and whether they will definitely fit the classic diff . As I haven't played with anything but classic rear diffs .so it might be worth offering up the diff to the rear shafts or cross referencing the rear inner cv's part numbers . I know 93 to 02 boxes , front drive/prop shafts, wiring clutch slave flywheel ect ... are all compatible as I've fitted a 02 box to a 93 car [emoji6] Keep us updated . Cheers clive

Hmmm shiny scooby stuff [emoji41]

Assuming your bugs a uk version you won't be able to run the classic jdm box with your uk diff due to the ratio's being different (it will wind the diffs up) The classic box can be made to work by changing your existing bugeye r160 3.5.4 ratio diff for a classic jdm short ratio r160 diff .just Google the classic box ty number to find it's ratio and buy a matching ratio classic or newage r160 diff . You'll have to change the speedo sensor over as early classic will be mechanical and after 96 is electronic and mabye the reverse/neutral position switch wiring (black and grey plugged loom) The female drive shaft ends ( inner front cv's) on your existing bug driveshafts will fit to any 5 or 6 speed from 93 till to blobeye . It's the outter cv's that differ , although after 04 you have to use a stub axle to convert the later boxes to take the earlier female shafts . By far the easiest and strongest option (without paying out for a 6speed) would be to google your bugs original gearbox ty number to get the ratio and buy a bug or blobeye 5 box .as the blobeye boxes have been known to handle a bit more power than a 15 +year old classic box and you could leave the diff alone . Best of luck bud

03 subaru impreza wrx sti hesitant in 2nd gear?.
savage bulldogs replied to Wez's topic in Subaru Impreza Club
When was the last time the spark plugs were changed ? As if the gaps are to big or worn sometimes the boost blows the spark out . As for helicoiling the brembos it's quite common as the threads are in ally and easily get "stripped" if overtightend. Helicoiling is just a way of re tapping the mounting threads -

What a complete and utter waste of time that 140 mile round trip was to see a battered v2sti :-( Had a mark on every pannel the rear arches had been rolled with a house brick the roof had dents and missing paint where the scoop had been ripped off front splitter was completely missing Both bumpers , side skirts and rear quarters needed repainting and the engine "apparently" didn't need a head gasket it "was just the rad cap leaking " why was it obviously pushing water out of the overflow bottle then as they're was rusty water stains everywhere . Didn't even start it up just laughed at him, held my gym monkey brv back (from ripping his arms and legs off and beating him to death with the soggy ends) and told my brv on the way home that I'd use his much cleaner v1sti shell instead . Far from mint I'd say well back to plan A ,re shell mine with my brvs v1sti shell -

Hmmm wtf is wrong with some people [emoji35] Made a offer over the phone he agreed and sent me some pics . Did a reg check and arranged my brv to drive it back , then the seller asks for £200 more than the original asking price Wtf [emoji35] [emoji36] Told him my original offer was the best I could do and glwts if it's not enough [emoji111] Get a reply at 2am saying it's mine and he's got another motor lined up [emoji16] Spent the whole morning playing text tennis with him still not giving me a postcode [emoji16] [emoji36] [emoji35] [emoji123] Rant over lol -

Having a look at a rust free v2 sti shell to get my stagnant project moving again [emoji41] Hopefully it's as clean as it looks -
Sorry about the crap pic , but it's the only one I've got showing a cam sensor in situ You can see it above the white rag on the right . And my bad I think there's only 1 (it's been a long day lol)

The crank sensor is located under the alternator . The cam sensors are located at the end of each cam (pulley end )

rattle on pistons
savage bulldogs replied to cheech's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
What grade oil is always a can of worms lol , but if your cossie pistons don't make a noise when cold (like tappets) then I'd say that their running tight ish clearances ,So I wouldn't jump to many grades of oil at once . Mabye see how a 10w 40 goes as it will only flow slightly slower, but will only be a grade thicker @ 100° I do agree with ash as well [emoji106] as i used millers 10 w 40 running in oil (mineral) and then switched to 10w 50 millers nano drive fully synthetic . my mahle race spec pistons are only running half the power their set for and are noisy up to 90° oil temp . But ,just like the wife, they shut up and do their job well when I spank em [emoji39] -
rattle on pistons
savage bulldogs replied to cheech's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
Forged pistons do normally rattle a bit when cold. due to needing bigger clearances to allow them to expand when they get hot running high power [emoji6] -
Are you sure it's leaking from rocker cover and not the turbo oil drain pipe ? I used genuine subaru gaskets and a light smeer of three bond when fitting mine .
-
Not all ra's haven't got leccy windows just the one's that are rare . Don't think I could manage without a few creature comforts either , saying that my uk hasn't got leccy folding mirrors, rear windscreen wipers or aircon anyways[emoji4]
-
Tbo I'm unsure what the similarities are between classic and bug , but I read (somwhere) that there are more of the same components than classic and blob upwards. Nice shopping list [emoji41] Good luck with the fitting and mapping [emoji106] P.s I don't know if you have new injector o rings but , it might be worth getting some just in case [emoji6]
-
Mind you I think what I've gained with the rusty weight saving arches ...... I've lost more with the fooking heavy 6 speed box [emoji4] Back on topic I'd love a type r shell as (generally) it would be much cleaner than a uk p1 . I don't think the p1's come with rear 2 pot calipers and I'm unsure if they have dccd , like some type r's
-
Lol Mines quite rare cos it's a lightweight Uk turbo 2000 ra[emoji41] Rust altered [emoji4]
-
Yeah it's a minefield lol ra = race altered (lighter) Type r = 2 door
-
Thought I'd ask as I know bugs share a lot of components with classics compared to blob and newer . I've got a few pics from when I fitted the 550 nismo side feed injectors in my classic that might have helped . Just take your time, de pressurise the fuel system before you start and bear in mind if you're fitting bigger cc injectors the car will run rough until you get the fuelling rescaled (remapped)
