Unsure about the fozzies but ,I did cut out the resonator on my classic . It was a sort of s bend that branches off under the d/s wing from back of air box to the vent above the d/s headlight . I think it's supposed to "tumble" the intake air to give a better mixture With the petrol . Most people remove the s bend to let the airbox breath freely and draw cold air from under the inner wing . V1 & v2 (slanty type) are as my brvs v1 sti had one fitted and Here's my old v3/v4 factory sti tmic And a friend's wrx bug eye had a black tmic and he upgraded to a factory silver sti one . will admit I'm not 100% sure about the v5 / v6 sti one's being silver but, the v5/v6 uk and wrx one's I've seen have been black , so I assumed the sti ones were silver as well like the other ones I've came across . Back to the op I still thought it was a good vid but ,won't be spraying my shiny hdi fmic untill I see some rr results with proven power gains Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk

All classic uk turbo and wrx intercoolers are black whereas the sti ones (which flow and cool better) are silver [emoji6]

I saw this on fb as well as the results seemed conclusive but , im still sceptical though as there wasn't any heat near the core or pipework nor was there any simulation of weather conditions and outside temps . As under normal conditions the rad / engine would emit heat behind the core and warm air or rain would affect average intake temps .imo a coat of paint might affect the conducting of heat in different conditions . Would love to see some back to back tests on a rolling road with both cores on the same car , as I'd prefer to paint my fmic for added stealth [emoji6]

grey/yellow injectors
savage bulldogs replied to Richb's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
Any idea what phase (or year ) the yellows came from ? As if the yellows aren't from the same phase fuel rail set up you'll need some "phase adapters" If the turbo inlet pipe runs under the inlet it will be phase 1.5 If your turbo inlet pipe runs over it will be phase 1 . Google "carl davey phase adapters " and there's a section on inlet/fuel rail phase identification [emoji6] Also the car won't run well due to over fuelling and will need a remap asap if you change the colour /size of the injectors . I'd also do a oil change once up and running as you've probably thinned the oil with "bore wash" petrol in the sump . I can't tell you what phase the yellows are in the pic im afraid , due to being unsure of the exact difference between the types of phases on the injectors other than length Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk- 4 replies

ej20 water jacket crank case bolts
savage bulldogs replied to dankane25's topic in General Subaru Chat
The bolt grips in petes link fit onto a normal socket set extension bar . Which will allow you to reach it think a set to suit the 12mm or 14 mm(can't remember the excat size of hand ) block bolts is about £25 on ebay [emoji6] Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk -
What have you done to your Subaru today ?
savage bulldogs replied to stants's topic in General Subaru Chat
far as im aware if you contact your local subaru main steeler and if your model/reg applies all they do is get it on the ramps , hit the wishbones with a dot punch in the affected area and if it fails they replace them for free [emoji6]Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk -

Cheap Turbo blankets ?
savage bulldogs replied to savage bulldogs's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
I'd have to double check in my parts boxes as I can't remember if the spare clutch slave I've got is a five or six speed one. Dunno what they sell for tbo bud If it's a 5 speed one and your stuck (cos I like to keep a few spares ) tenner + post ? As for changing the clutch slave and master cylinder at the same time .. I wouldn't think so as they run off separate reservoirs and are used for different tasks during driving . Wouldn't hurt to refresh the brake fluid and upgrade any lines to braided (if not done recently) Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk -
Yeah I followed the build thread a while back , loads of work went into it . Couldn't afford it either but, if I had the room to build one I'd probably have a go [emoji5] Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk

I got my advice on handbrake shoe compatability and conversion brackets to fit newage wrx 160 rear 2 pots to my 160 classic rear hubs from as performance , but give him a call or drop him a email (cos his websites pretty useless ) http://asperformance.com/contact/ Wouldn't have thought you'd need the 2 pot brackets as I think they fit directly to the classic 180 set up. If he can't help you with the spline count try cross referencing the hub/shaft/c.v part numbers or email luke at importcarparts Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk

Cheap Turbo blankets ?

the pipework's still warm but not scalding. Think I've got a 5 speed slave cylinder amongst my scooby scraps if you're stuck finding one fella Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk -
Cheap Turbo blankets ?
savage bulldogs replied to savage bulldogs's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
Well it was a bit awkward to fit due to the scooby set up but , not because of the actual blanket . It seems to be good quality and after a spirited drive the turbo outlet fmic pipe is much cooler , as I can keep my hand on it now (rather than scalding myself on it ) My intake temps were much better since fitting the hdi fmic but now the air temp going into the cooler should be lower I'd imagine the intake temps into the throttle body will be better still [emoji6] Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk -
Which Alloys - Again!?
savage bulldogs replied to mfnick's topic in Subaru Tyres / Wheels & Suspension
Big fan of the revolutions on a classic and rota grids on a newage myself I'm not to keen on multi spoke rims tbo ,but that's only personal preference. I like a simple design if their dark coloured . As for colour I quite like the look of this But I've had white wheels before and their a proppa pita to keep clean Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk -
The injectors might well be big enough but the oe fueling map won't be set up for the extra air flow created by the decat and bigger turbo . Although the standard ecu will learn and make minor changes to the map you won't get the full benefit from the upgrades and might run lean until the fueling and timing has been tweeked. If you haven't got the £'s for a remap straight away I'd suggest to get it on a dyno to make sure it's not det'ing . As a £50 dyno run is a lot cheaper than a engine rebuild . Had a failed attempt at fitting my turbo blanket [emoji19] which resulted in me being covered in itchy downpipe heat wrap [emoji39] It's not gonna be a 5 minute fit due to the fmic pipework being in the way . As for lowering fozies with wrx springs I think they make the back end sit a bit lower due to the extra weight ,but they do spacers to even up the ride height .[emoji6] Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk -
Hmmm shiny [emoji41] Where did you get the wisco pistons and eagle rods from in the end ash ? How long do you recon till she's up n running fella Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk

Cheap Turbo blankets ?
savage bulldogs replied to savage bulldogs's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
I had thought the same adam as the current turbo is a tdo5 being water cooled and oil fed . I know that hot gasses move quicker therfore expelling out of the zorst sooner ,flowing better and making room for more gasses quicker I'll eventually fit a bigger turbo which will probably be just oil fed/cooled and sell the blanket on , as I'll knock up a reverse inlet manifold to shorten the fmic pipework .so it won't pass over the bigger turbo then anyways Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk -

I've just bought the one in your link tlag seems worth a go for under £50 [emoji6] Thanks for everyone's input [emoji41] I'll let you all know about fitment and quality once it's here and fitted [emoji106] Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk -

Cheers chap [emoji106] Will admit I'd been eyeing up slightly cheaper ones [emoji5] But as I said before I'd prefer to use one that's already tried and tested [emoji6] I've already wrapped my haywood n scott upipe and cusco downpipe in that itchy !Removed! lol and have been toying with the idea of lagging the fmic pipework as well .
