V7 wrx sti type uk engine refresh
Been a bit pre occupied this week but found the right frame of mind and a bit of time today . Got the left hand cams and avcs solenoids in and water pump "hard lines" on ( as these go behind the timing belt backing plate ) , fitted all the new crank /cam seals and some of the block / head sensors . Pretty much ready to fit the pulleys and timing belt kit , so getting close now [emoji4]

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Well apparently "all their phone calls are recorded " they've definitely offered a more realistic settlement over the phone and even taken bank details to send payment . But until i get the written confirmation and funds, I'm understandably a bit dubious due to the way this has played for me so far [emoji849]

My classic my2000 uk turbo project
Looks like im gonna have to stop logging in on s.o.c ...... everyone seems to be at the "I've fitted my engine stage " [emoji848] And I'm still wating on written confirmation from my insurance company to see if the v1 is going to be repaired and eating my dinner in the front room due to the bug lump still being on the kitchen table 🤣[emoji23] Nice work, and best of luck with the initial start up and coolant system bleeding , bud[emoji6]

1998/99 GC8 ABS Issues
Theres a how 2 sticky thread in the tech section on here that shows how 2 self read ecu codes and reset the ecu . If it's still on after that check the abs rings on the hubs aren't cracked , sensors are clean and abs sensor wiring plugs are making a good connection

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Well after a few phone calls today flux and ERS seem to have realised that there has been a massive oversight with my valuation . So ERS (prompted by flux ) have verbally offered a cash settlement which should be enough to get my scoob back to how it was prior to the accident without being categorised (written off) Although i now feel like both flux and ERS are doing the best they can for me (their customer for the past 7 yrs with 20yrs no claims) , i won't be 100% happy until i have their approval in writing . So Fingers crossed she'll be back burbling soon now , thanks for all your comments and I'll keep you all posted on the final outcome 🤞

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Although i do feel a bit mislead about what value my insurance is for , it's not flux that have valued my car and I'd urge anyone that has valued their own car to make sure that value is agreed , no mater who you are insured with . I've found dan from flux more than helpfull in the past , after all he just works for a broker . I'm gonna go through my receipts for every mod its got and add up the second hand parts cost . Just hope that ERS (my insurer) comes back with a more realistic value before i get the insurance omnibus involved . After being injured myself , watching my 2 daughter's in pain , my pride n joy wrecked , all through no fault of my own [emoji53] I hope that the total cost of my mods maths don't cost me my marriage too [emoji849]

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Spoke to a few people in the know and they think it's been undervalued so it can be sold as salvage . Then they can recoup some money due to the ammount of parts on it , which adds up as they wanted to arrange collection this afternoon and thats the fastest response ive had during the past 2 weeks since the accident . Looks like I'll be phoning the insurance omnibus tomorrow to get to the bottom of why a car with £5k+ of listed parts is only being valued at £2.5k . In the meantime if anyone sees a add for a early jdm classic up for sale for over £4k , help me out and ping me a link pls . As i need to prove it's been undervalued by showing other jdm classic at a realistic value . After all i'm sure that most of you know that i couldn't replace my car with the £2.5k they've offered me . This is a opinion , not fact. So i am in no way being slanderous towards my broker or insurance company. i am in no way suggesting that there is definitely something crooked going on but something doesn't add up. i think someone has overlooked something for my car and it's legal modifications to be valued so low . Few pics of the old girl in her glory for other adds to compare it to.

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
I daren't say too much , as I'll probably end up being sued for slander the way my lucks been going . But you can't blame me for being miffed at thinking my car was insured for the value that was on my policy when it has £5k + worth of mods listed on it . Gonna have to sift through my last 4yrs worth of policies small print with them once i get home .

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
6 speed and brembos are worth £2k at least so i guess they value the rest of the mods and the rest of the car at £500 .... Seems legit to me [emoji848]

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Knowing the way this is going atm they'll probably ask for £6.5k to buy it back [emoji34]

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Ok ,so Adrian flux have now said my policy isn't agreed value , although i had discussed the value with them and its plainly written on my policy , it's not "agreed value ". So its now probably going to be written off [emoji34] So apparently I've been paying nearly £600 per year for insurance on a £2.5k car , with listed mods . So gutted i didn't re insure with green light this year . Fook you very much flux for not explaining the difference between value and agreed value !!! Gonna check through my insurance details when i get back home today but its not looking good now [emoji53]

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Well i haven't done anything to my scooby today [emoji53] But the insurance engineer turned out to be a scooby fanatic and has approved the repairs [emoji4] Just gotta wait for my insurance company to pull their finger out and confirm that the repairs can go ahead [emoji41]

07 WRX STI Engine Rebuild Advice
I'm doing a ej207 52 plate wrx sti type uk rebuild myself at the moment , so can tell you that the standard rods and pistons are good for 450hp ish . I've spent about £2k in parts and engineer costs , so if your rods , block and pistons are ok i can't see why a safe 400hp engine can't be built for your budget . You'll only be able to tell whats damaged once the block is stripped but mahle forged pistons are about £500 and h beam rods are about £400 if needed . Unfortunately im far too busy atm (check my build threads) to take on any other scooby work myself , so I'd suggest to contact RM performance on f.b too see what they recommend. As mick is a honest tuner and wont fleece you for extra work / parts that are not needed . http://www.rmperformance.co.uk/ All the best Clive Edited in as i just noticed yours is a 07 sti and probably a 2.5 ltr engine , so I'm unsure what power the standard components are good for . Also Alyn at asperformance is worth a call as he does a lot of 2.5 closed deck conversions "in house" to strengthen the block for higher hp builds

What is the problem? Steering servo or CV joints?
Worn outter c.v joints tend to give a clicking sound on full lock when driving slowly . Wheel bearing, ball joints , inner tie rods outter track rod ends are also worth a check . Is there any uneven tyre wear ? If your unsure , get it checked out sooner rather than later, as if any of the above completely fail it could be nasty

Engine using a tiny amount of coolant
Unfortunately the slanty tmic will max out at 290hp ish and it's a mare to fit bigger tmics on v1 inlets , so fmic is the normal route on v1/v2's . It should run ok but you'll be overfuelling, so don't drive it too much , even off boost , as overfuelling can cause bore wash . Which strips the bores of oil causing wear and can lead to fuel in the sump/oil [emoji6]

Engine using a tiny amount of coolant
Im a bit jelly lol , wish i was at the almost finished stage [emoji849] but I'm getting there . Do a ecu reset bud , there's a "how to" sticky thread in the tech section [emoji6] What injectors are you running , stock grey 380's? If so 290hp is about the limit with those and a "slanty" tmic , with a fmic and yellow 440cc injectors you should see about 330hp [emoji6]

V7 wrx sti type uk engine refresh
Cheers chaps [emoji106] i do like to get stuck in [emoji6] Managed to a bit this evening on the right hand head too [emoji4] got the lash caps in , plastigauged the cam cap oil clearances and checked the valve clearances (both of which are spot on) . I've got new avcs banjo bolts and filters to fit but just put the old ones in to bung the holes for now and put the vapor blasted cam cover on . to keep any debris out until the engines sealed up properly. plus they cost me £30 to get em shiney and i like shiney scooby stuff [emoji4]

Engine using a tiny amount of coolant
Pretty close now chap , as for the gearbox and engine , ive had some just fall into place [emoji41] And some take half a day of wiggling, jacking the box up n down and a full swear tin [emoji849] Hope the bleeding of the coolant goes just as smooth and your back with boost n burble soon [emoji106]

V7 wrx sti type uk engine refresh
Wiped the block deck and freshly machined /refurbished heads free from oil . Soaked the new head bolts and washers in oil , fitted the Cossie stopper headgaskets and torqued the heads down according to the service manual instructions. Still got a good day or 2 to go , fitting the cams , pulleys , sump , cam covers , timing belt kit , manifolds, turbo ect but it's definitely taking shape now [emoji4]
