  1. Stripped and split the block halves [emoji4] Found the cause of the rumble ..... and as i thought, goosed main bearings [emoji849]
  2. There's at least 3 different types of fuel pump / tank sender assembly but The likes of rcm , walbro ect all list 1 type of pump that fits in the classic fuel pump "cradle" So any aftermarket/oe classic pump will fit in your cradle , so you could try fitting the red labels pump into your cradle . But I'd suggest to use a new pump in your cradle as you don't want to lean off on boost due to a faulty pump [emoji6]
  3. Cheers , i took quite a few pics but I'm still trying to decide whether i should start another build thread [emoji848] ? Especially as i haven't got anywhere near finishing my classic project yet [emoji849]
  4. Well that wasn't too bad [emoji4] It's now in kitchen table sized chunks , so at least i can work in the warm close to the kettle [emoji23]🤣
  5. Busy morning trying to get the block stripped before the artic blast gets hold of the east coast [emoji849] Crash course in avcs heads after lunch lol
  6. Nice work , works out quite cheap for a set of newage sti wheels too [emoji106] they're "speedline course " 18's i gave em a google after you posted and they're £1k new [emoji44]
  7. Heat 6's are what most use in stock scoobs and generally, heat 7's in mapped with bolt ons . If your running over stock boost tighten the gap a little to 0.65mm, to lessen the chance of spark being blown out by boost . Otherwise i think they're 0.7mm outta the box Check your coilpack insluation and wires for cracks , seeing as you have a minor misfire [emoji6]
  8. Cheers , center caps are a bit faded but the wheels are fairly mint otherwise , the mate i bought the bug off said they were fairly rare ? Not that it matters , cos they do suit the car well imo
  9. 5 hrs later , Not too bad seeing as I've never pulled a newage lump before [emoji6]
  10. Any intake air leak (from maf to throttle body ) can cause hunting and running issues ,due to unmetered air entering the mixture . Have you checked intake , tmic y pipe and vac lines for splits / leaks ?
  11. Today i be mostly ripping the bugs guts out
  12. My Swedish ain't too sharp and ive only owned my bug a week but as long as its a single scroll hawk downpipe i think it should fit . I can take some measurements once i get my bug sti decat downpipe off this afternoon, dunno if that will help as its running a full aftermarket turbo back though
  13. Now you've fixed the throttle issue (tps ) the faulty tps and tight throttle cable might have been masking other issues . If iacv was off another scoob it could need adjusting ? You could alter the idle by loosening the screws on the top of the iacv and twisting it slightly . Just make sure you mark the original position ,so it can be returned back if it doesnt work . Could also be the ecu temp sender or its wiring / plug , give that a visual check . As if the car thinks its cold it will enrich the mixture
  14. Probably the wife , mines not too happy we have 5 motors on the drive [emoji23]🤣
  15. Alls well with me thanks , well apart from just buying a bug sti , which has cheered the mrs up no end 🤣 Looks like the previous owner has spent a fair bit of time n money on your bug , with some tasty mods , nice choice chap [emoji106] I've only owned my bug a week ,so not too clued up on them yet but I'm sure someone will be able to help with the questions [emoji6]
  16. Didn't know you had a blobeye as well , 2 scoobs is just plain greedy [emoji850] Looks much better sitting lower , bet the front end doesn't lift as much on boost and you don't get sea sick in the twisties anymore [emoji41]
  17. She'll be for sale once the engines run in , its been on attowes dyno and got the all clear . It will certainly be a good strong lump when its done and its had a new clutch , full cambelt kit and b.c coilovers fitted about 800 miles ago [emoji41]
  18. Hi n welcome to s.o.c , sounds like your gonna be busy with 2 project scoobs . Plenty of classic owners on here , so feel free to start a thread in the relevant section and I'm sure we'll be able to help
  19. Glad to hear you've come to your senses at last [emoji16] Gambits scoobless atm [emoji53] but he's still about lol , but this thread is pointless without pics [emoji849]
  20. Cheers chap ,Soon as spring is here i'm hoping to get stuck in with the bug build ,cos atm the bug looks mint but sounds like a diesel and the v1 goes well but needs a bit of tlc on the outside [emoji849]
  21. Promise I won't spam my classic project thread with newage pics , hey i might even start a new project thread to show the bug some love . For now here's a couple of pics of the v7 wrx sti type uk I've bought off a mate , it's a clean example but unfortunately the previous owner had hidden a mild crank rumble [emoji53] So soon as the weather gets better I'm gonna rebuild the engine and save the 77k bug sti from being broken [emoji41] Just means the v1 sti's parallel fuel rail conversion and respray is going on the back burner ,again [emoji850]
  22. Dry day .... time to play ..... although the v1 sti doesn't look happy theres a bug in its place
  23. Always nice to see a classic getting some tlc , even if some of the prep pics are gruesome
  24. Once you get your head around the boxer layout they're quite easy to work on . I enjoyed my classic build that much i bought that bug to have another go lol
  25. Nice progress , glad you seem to be enjoying the learning curve and managed to get that banjo bolt out .
