XV Safety Recall
Well this came direct from Subaru UK so it's legit. I was in contact regarding another issue and they sent this. "As an aside, our vehicle records confirm the following safety recall is currently outstanding on your XV: * SRT215 - Steering Column Wiring Harness Please contact your local Subaru dealer in order to arrange to have this safety recall carried out (which is free of charge) at your earliest convenience."

Brakes squeal at 53K
Yes, Subaru not the cheapest. Surprised the discs didn't last a bit longer, changed wife's pads at 50k discs were fine.

How much did the front pads cost you?

What did you do to your XV today???
One of those occasions when I'm glad the wife is in a decent car with 4 wheel drive. As she was driving back through Stoke she got hit by the Tornado that was on the news today. 80mph winds out of nowhere. Luckily she had Dashcam running.

Winter wheels & tyres
To be honest I found that the standard Geolanders were fine in the snow (as long as you had good tread depth). I got caught in a severe snow storm a couple of years ago and we had 10" snow, had to drive back from Manchester and had no trouble, even on the steep hills everyone else was getting stuck on. Had a Porsche Cayenne follow me up one hill and he didn't make it, unless you're thinking of doing anything serious I wouldn't be too worried about the standard tyres.

You'll have to let me know how you get on, I had the standard Geolanders on when there was some heavy snow round our way and I found them surprisingly sure footed (assuming you have good tread). We won't get the snow and I've down here you'll no doubt get so I reckon I'll be ok on the Geolanders. But be interesting to see if those are much better for when global warming stops the Gulf Stream and the apocalypse comes. [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Low oil level light but oil is fine
I already have, but it wouldn't take them long to deternine if yours is coked. i run minevup the motorway once s week around 65mph in third for about 15mins to force s DPF regen, then I drive it back home like I stole it to blow it out make sure it's all clear, not had any trouble with mine and my wife's has been fine since she started doing the same.

DPF woes
I had my DPF light start flashing the other week, no apparent reason, took it to the dealer and they said it was because there has been 3 failed attempts at a regen, however this isn't your problem. Something that may interest you though I'd my wife's car had an issue after only 10k miles (the dealer had done 6k of them). The car would start to struggle with power as the turbo came in, and the power would continue to drop until you changed gear and throttled it. After multiple trips to the dealers mainly looking at the DPF, they had the car on and the engine out. The whole engine was coked up not only after the inlet but even before the inlet, took a week to clear the whole system out. Since it's been done we've had no issues, we never had an explaination as to why it occurred, there is some suggestion it's related to the glowplugs though. might be worth asking your dealer about potential coking up?

Low oil level light but oil is fine
You'll probably need to get the light reset, or check it isn't anything sinister. After all, it may be a genuine indication. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Low oil level light but oil is fine
There's a known fault with the XV that the oil light gives false warnings sometimes our dealer told us about it. However, It's always worth assuming the worst, don't want to assume it's just a sensor only to find out your engine is at risk because it's something more serious. But my wife had the same thing. You can reset the oil light if it comes on which we did but ours didn't turn off, if it's oil pressure if it resets it'll come back on again, but ours was just a stubborn sensor. Worth getting it checked out though by the dealers.
