Think we know what my problem is now, not gearbox but differential, which I suppose isn't much better? Spent most of the afternoon cleaning my car. Washed it, clayed then polished :). Drove around the village looking for a good place to take a picture but in the end just stopped at the side of the road! lol.

From your description only thing I can think of it the brake line anchor. Like Stants said, a picture would make things clearer.

My brother in law said he would prefer to keep this car up and running for as long as possible. So he wants to recon the box unless I find a 6 speed :).

Well as tempting as it is, straight cut will probably be avoided. I'd like to go 6 speed but only one i've found has the DCCD kit, I imagine that could be a pain to fit. A recon box would probably be the choice I go for, need to have a word with my brother in law about it see if he knows anyone. Thanks for the reply Savage :)

Over the past couple of weeks I have noticed the dreaded whine from the gearbox, It isn't really loud but I notice it. Also when under load in 3rd gear it rattles/grinds. Also last night on the way home I noticed a knock from the rear on the odd occasion when I put power down or let off which I'm going to assume is the rear diff. If it turns out to be this problem then I'm stuck on what to do.... Not seen many 6 speed gearboxes around so swapping to one of them might not be an option. Is it possible to get the gearbox reconditioned and made stronger? Any other ideas?

I'm just wondering, I'm in the large format industry. We have got 5 printers, 2 are latex and 3 are dye. We print vinyl but only stuff that can be put on boards or signs not on cars. We haven't gone towards car vinyl stuff because it's a different market to what we are after. Just interested to see what printers you use :). However once I figure out what I'm doing with my car (keeping or getting another) I will probably go with what Gambit has done and vinyl my roof ;).

Makes no difference from previous reviews I have read, most people say the first test in the add was done from cold and they other when hot so it gives massively different readings. Most people that have had it done said the engine was slightly smoother but was hard to tell. Someone had a before and after reading of emissions and they dropped very little and was hard to tell if it was from the clean or not. Who knows?

Has your car been running fine? That looks like the Vac line that controls the actuator for the turbo.. if it's disconnected the it's likely that turbo isn't boosting correctly.

Gonna have to clay the car, it's covered in flecks of spray paint... can't see it unless you look close and the car is rough as hell to the touch.

I tend to just tap the throttle after a few seconds and it drops the revs down to under 1k. Easiest way to get around it I guess.

First thing I checked, that's what nearly killed my turbo last time luckily my cracked up pipe got us checking around there and the turbo was really badly worn and there were coolant stains on it. Been okay since thankfully :).

Doesn't sound like a pleasant experience Dog, don't like it when people talk behind other peoples back and even more so when they are in ear shot. You are doing the right thing about complaining, it works to help get a business running properly as well :). Not lost anymore coolant, no more smell either so I'm guessing it's a pipe that leaked a bit... maybe from being over stretched due to a harsh acceleration. Will get it checked this weekend maybe, hopefully got someone looking at my other car with the potential to buy. If they do then I'm getting a handling kit... (front and rear ARB with bushes, ALK and Alloy Drop Links). Then getting my brother in law to set up the geo :). I can smell coolant, car is too hot to touch everywhere so will wait a bit before have a feel around. I'm guessing it's going to be bottom rad hose, haven't lost much so can't be a big leak. Also, don't know if anyone else it tried this and if it's normal but if I put it in neutral while moving and rev the engine a bit it feels like the car is braking? I just presume it's the force of everything spinning slowing the car down a bit.

Fitted my new stereo last night, just waiting on a reversing camera and a replacement facia so my dash will look nice again. Also wanted my car to sell so I can buy a handling kit for the Sub :(. Keep getting offered £1100 for the car but I paid £1600 in Feb... do I take the hit or wait it out a bit? I've got it up for £1450.

These wheels are very light! I have them on my car and was shocked at how light they are lol.

My brother in law just had my sisters Zafira in the garage because it was howling, waterpump was just hanging on. The belt was changed less than 15k miles ago as well by the previous owner, now it has to have another lol. He's annoyed to say the least ;)

Was that decision made after you took the pictures? That's the problem with Subarus, if you don't look at your car you get your level head on and think "right I'll sell and get such a car" then you look at your car and change your mind. Even if you were going to upgrade lol. I wanted to sell mine and get a blob.... still got mine (y). Pictures look good, those wheels stand out quite a bit don't they. Very fond of the front lip as well ;). Could do with the plastic side skirt extensions and rear spats to finish the look.
