  1. Car went for its "special" mot the other day passed everything fine but my guy tells me the exhaust was blowing which i have noticed but he investigated further and said my up pipe isn't working how it should. Now i have a decatted exhaust and downpipe which are both only a year old so the up pipe could be pretty old now and I'm pretty sure it is still standard. He says this will be affecting the power of my car quite a lot and it does seem to lag on the boost.

Any advice of what brand to go for and best upgrade for power?

  2. I have a 3' exhaust with no cat and no silencers in the downpipe or exhaust so its really loud. I wouldnt mind it being abit quiter ( i know strange thing to say ). Anyway to reduce the noise without loosing power?

I have looked into soundproofing has anyone tried this?

  3. just had a look and i have a small grey box on the passengers side with a slot in it but no wire going in so i think this is the wire the controls the door that changes hot or cold as i manually moved the door and got cold air now this mystery is just finding this wire. Ive had out my glove box and centre console and no luck i really do not want to take the dash out i didn't enjoy doing that last time

  4. Cheers for the advice , i had a spare half hour today to lift it up it 100% sounds like its coming from the gearbox or downpipe. The exhaust is only 1 year old and was bought new so i wouldn't think its any damage there i think it could be the downpipe as you say maybe a bolt come loose as the downpipe has been in the car since i had it.

Ill take another look on saturday and update

  5. So recently my car has developed a sort of rattle noise its hard to explain but the noise is on when the engine is idling and speeds up and slows down when you rev it. I popped the bonnet and had a listen doesn't sound at all like its coming from the engine bay. It sounds like its maybe coming from the gearbox or mid exhaust area :S it sounds its loudest from outside the car.

any ideas? should i be worried?

  6. Cheers for that I've had a good look through it and cant tell what it could be people keep telling me its warning me the Battery is going but its under a year old and whenever i check it says its healthy , i am wondering if i take it to a clifford dealer would they charge to look at it as it was fitted by some random guy who held a clifford certificate so i suppose it wasn't fitted by one of there workshops

  7. So I've got a 1994 impreza and the cigarette lighter socket has never worked since i got it. I adapted my own charger by wiring a duel usb socket with the wire going through to the Battery with a fuse on it. It all worked fine for a few days then it just stopped working so i investigated and i found the usb socket was smoking abit but the fuse had not been blown.

If anyone electrically minded can help me out that would be great as i need my phone charger for long journeys and my road angel system runs off it.

    Thanks

  8. So i have a clifford alarm fitted to my classic its a 650 mk 2 if that matters. So my door light has always been abit sketchy blinking on and off when everything appears closed and lately the door light is constantly on! i think this is making my clifford system think there is a door open. Is this a case of swapping out the door sensors for new ones? it cant be the bonnet because there is no sensor for that and the boot is all good aswell.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    cheers

  9. My throttle cable seems worn and doesn't have the tension it should have i think it is ever so slightly effecting my miles per gallon either way id like to replace it. Does anyone know of an upgraded aftermarket brand or if you have a link so someone selling them? I know I've seen a braided one on a terzo before.

  10. Really struggling to order some replacements as the ones i have are all rusted so i cant see any serial numbers and they were bought second hand so i have no order number

Ive told them what model of BC's i have and what car i don't see how they cant tell me what would fit

  11. Right so one of my rear springs has snapped due to age i think and the rest probably on there way out i need to replace them but i have no idea what size they are so i don't know what i need to order.

I have BC BR Coilovers fitted to a 1994 Classic GC8 shape impreza if anyone can tell me what size springs i need for front and rear that would be brilliant

  12. Do you just have the standard gearbox or have you gone through that process? sounds expensive!

Hahah the exhaust is just straight through makes a hell of a good noise! To be honest i have looked at some of the bushes and noticed the rubber has split or is very warn

  13. Now my mapping is all sorted I'm thinking whats next this won't be for a while but I'm just brain storming. The car seems to rattle about feels like a track car with a lot of road noise and vibrations I've heard that the foam matting is good for solving these issues just wanna know if any other classic owners have tried this or if they know what I'm saying.

Secondly i think i may need a 6th gear as i do motorway journeys a fair bit and wouldn't mind a non boost cruising gear to help the mpg , my car was originally a 1994 WRX import so does anyone know how i would go about getting a 6 speed?

Thanks for you help as always :)

  14. After months of messing about trying to find the problem i took my car to Steve Simpson at ZI Motorsport as he created the simtek ECU that i have. After around 4 hours on the dyno he managed to work out that the cam and crank sensors were out of time this is something no one else had seen but its all finally sorted and the car came out with 312bhp :). Basically the first guy who mapped it didn't know what he was doing even though is qualified.

Highly recommend Steve and ZI Motorsport they were a great help and very fair pricing they are located in Wrexham, Wales.

  15. So for those who have been following this problem i am still let to have it fixed , basically when the engine gets hot and i get up to around 60-70 mph or use a lot of boost then it misfires and everytime i try and reach these speeds when the engine is hot. It also uses an insane amount of fuel like 100 miles a tank motorway driving so there is something very wrong here. The car also idles for an extra second or 2 everytime you rev it.

I have had the coil packs replaced with 4 brand new genuine subaru. I have replaced all 4 spark plugs and checked there fitment. I have had several mechanics look over the car and it has baffled them ( these guys know a fair amount about scoobys). This has lead me to think that the mapper may not have had much of an idea about what he was doing.Firstly he only got 300bhp out of my classic when I've seen others with the same mods having 315-330. I am taking the car to see a gentlemen called Steve Simpson who owns the simtek ECU i have fitted so I'm hoping it was just the mapper was crap and Steve can sort me out.

Just to put my mind at ease does it sound possible that the misfiring when hot and massive fuel consumption along with the bad idling could be a result of a bad map? The car was completely fine before it was mapped,

Cheers for reading through this any help would be greatly appreciated.

  16. Getting new number plates with carbon lettering and you can add a slogan on the bottom which i am doing but just wondering if anyone had some good ideas?

    so far I've had

See no Evo fear no evo

    The world is flat
