  1. Cheers bulldog but please don't tell me that i need to do the new age coil pack conversion as I've just spent a lot of money on 4 brand new coilpacks. They should be fitted correctly as the spark plugs should be aswell the garage did them because i was away.

Car is back at Eurospec now and they have said they don't think the injectors are the problem they said by the sound of the misfire it is a problem with the signal ? this is all starting to go over my head but he is looking into the problem and says the next step would be to fit new wiring it did have a name but I've forgot. 

    Strange problem though because the car has been misfiring everyday this week when it goes past 70 or uses a lot of boost but today i got in to drive to the garage and give it one last go and it was completely fine it didn't misfire once and i got to 85mph and accelerated pretty quickly 

  3. Eurospec are highly qualified i fully trust they know what they are doing they regularly feature in the Japanese performance magazine so i am happy with my choice of garage. 

    Bulldogs- The spark plugs were all changed around 4-5 months ago but this was when the car had around 230hp. I don't know what spark plugs it has in it but they were put in by a regular garage so its a possibility that they might not be the right requirement for the power I'm running now. Also the fuel injectors i have are 440 yellows but they are second hand a might not be in the best condition i don't know if that can cause misfire problems or not.

  4. It is an actual misfire. and it isn't the new age coil packs he just replaced the ones i had with new genuine subaru ones but i just find it strange that it didn't misfire when it was of the rolling road as he got it to 300bhp 

  5. Got my car back from Eurospec performance garage today i was told it was all fixed and it didn't have a misfiring problem anymore. The car is producing 300bhp as he mapped it with the engine age in mind but I'm very happy with 300. The car seemed fine on the drive home but as soon as i got on a dual carriageway and thought i would test out my new power i got to 80mph and the car started to misfire, i couldn't believe it i have been without the car for a month and spent over £1200 and yet it still has the problem.

     

    This is the list of things the garage done to fix the misfiring problem

    4 new coilpacks

    Fit and wired AIT sensor the car now runs without the maf sensor

    checked condition of cambelt

    new spark plugs 

     

    Only seems to misfire when the engine heats up or if you go over 70-80mph but he was able to map it so i have no idea whats going on.

    Really don't know what to do now I've spent al my savings on this already and it still has the problem so i anyone has any ideas please share.

  6. UPDATE

    So the car has been at the garage 3 weeks now. Ive had the following checked :

    .Spark plugs

    .coil packs

    .cam belt

    .the timing belt is perfectly aline

     

    Basically the mechanic doesn't seem to know why it is misfiring as it only started doing it since i got the new ecu and cant be mapped properly because of it. He rang up Simtek themselves and they said it could either be the sync between the ecu and crank sensor or the cam sensor thats causing this. Now this is way over my head so does this make any sense to anyone?

    He has had my car in pieces trying to find the problem and the last resort seems to be these sensors. I will list the problems again below if anyone knows anything or has any more ideas please help I'm missing driving now....

    . Misfires when using high boost or high speeds

    .Revs itself randomly when stopped at lights can range anywhere from 1000 to 3000 and it doesnt drop till you set off again

    . Uses an insane amount of fuel like 100 miles motorway driving off a FULL TANK!

     

    All these problems have only accrued since i got the new simtek ecu fitted.

  7. It sits on the rear of the roof glued on top and has a part on each side that sits in place under the black trim running down the sides.

    Ive bought one before and it didn't fit but only by an inch or 2 which makes me think it could have just been a bad batch.

Im looking at getting some carbon fibre parts for my classic like scoop and vortex generator but as i look on the websites near enough all of them state that they fit 96 to 01 gc8 shape this confused me abit because i thought the gc8 shape was the same from 93 apart from small things like the grill. Can someone let me know if there is a difference between my 94 and a 96

  9. So I've been in two minds for a while on what style to go for on my classic and I've decided to go for carbon fibre everywhere as I've already got the interior done. At the moment my alloys are silver Rota's I've always planned on getting them sprayed gun metal but I've seen some dipped carbon fibre alloys that look amazing.

     

    Whats peoples opinion on this? do you think they will sustain there good looks? or do you think having carbon alloys along with all the other bits might be to much? Just interested to hear opinions

  10. No he didn't give me anything he said as the dyno printout was only 220 he didn't think i would want it. The mapper is Ben from Eurospec which i have only heard good things about so I'm pretty confident i have the right man for the job its just he works slow and doesn't really contact me much i have to chase him up as you do with most garages.

  11. Right so my classic went to Eurospec for a simtek ECU fitted and mapped and came back with 220bhp and various other problems that i will list below.

    .Misfires on high boost and when you go over around 60mph

    .uses TWICE as much fuel I'm talking like 100 motorway miles on 1 TANK!!

    .Idles at 2000 or 3000rpm and stays there until you move off

    .Remote start using clifford system start up then cuts out and has to start up again

     

    All of these problems didn't happen with the old standard ecu , the mapper has said it could be coil packs or a crank sensor?? he doesn't seem to know what wrong and says he will have another look at it this week but I'm pretty short for money now having already forked out £600 for a ECU and £350 for it mapped. I need help now if anyone has any ideas what the problem could be.

  12. UPDATE 

    1.central locking sorted now was just a loose bolt causing the black box to move around locking and unlocking the car. FIXED!

    2.the ticking noise seems to have gone for now still no idea what it was

    3. The speed clock and the mileage counter both do not work but the rev's fuel and engine temperature all work fine, could this be the black lead at the back of the speedo came slightly off?

     

    Savage bulldogs- Car is booked in for the old to new coil pack conversion on saturday costing me £400. I have checked myself for vacuum leaks i.e anything not attached that should be but i can't see anything so ill have to mention to the garage on saturday. Then of course the problem of using twice as much fuel :( ! I'm starting to wonder if i will ever have a week without a problem! lol

  13. It seems my car is just dying at the moment fix one problem and get 3 more.

    First one- The central locking goes crazy sometimes when I'm stopped like turning itself on and off??

    second issue-The speed guadge and suddenly just died no matter what speed I'm going it is just unresponsive but the rest of the clocks  are working fine

    third issue-Strange ticking sound like the sound of an indicator but quieter can be heard from the drivers side and the sound speeds up and slows as the car does.

    All of these problems happened today just from driving from my house to the shop and for petrol!

  14. right situation update is my car is running 220 mapped on a simtek ECU the reason the hp is so low is because whenever Ben tries to map it at high boost it misfires which he says he has seen before and its coil packs as mine seem to have been in the car for 22 years..... so I'm heading back to get 4 new coil packs and remapped next week which hopefully gets it hitting 300.

     

    Minor issue at the moment is when i pull up at lights or in traffic in first the Revs will sit on 2000 now and again like i have my foot slightly on the accelerator and i can actually pull away lifting off the clutch without using my right foot at all because the car is already sitting on 2000 its pretty weird anyone know whats up? it has only done it since the map 

  15. Yes the fuel pump is a RCM.

    There was an issue with the boost not holding I'm assuming the new turbo i got fitted fixed that as the horsepower improved from 180 to 220.

    All he said was it could be coil packs and once i asked if the car could reach 300bhp his reply was just under but would be risky which makes me think something must be going wrong because as you say it should be easily making 300.

    As for Eurospec i have heard good things and good things about my mapper Ben.My brothers Evo 10 has been going there for years.They seem a really professional place and i would hate to think they are taking advantage.

  16. Bit of a long story 

    So when i bought my car a classic WRX JDM i took it for a dyno run and it came out with 231bhp . I have done a lot of modifications to it to achieve what a lot of people told me would easily make 300bhp so i booked it in at Eurospec for a new simtek ecu and remap. I was then told the car wasn't boosting properly only producing 180bhp and needed a new turbo. So new turbo bought it gets mapped again this time reaches 220bhp which is still 10 less than it started with 6 month ago. Ive been told now that it needs new coil packs as it keeps misfiring when you turn the boost up. When i asked the mapper if it could reach 300 he said maybe just under but I've been told to expect 320- 330 from others so i can't quite understand what is going on I've spent so much money now and lost horsepower i need help! Why am i getting such little horsepower?!

     

    Car is WRX Impreza 1994 JDM

    My car has:

    .front mounted intercooler

    .new spark plugs 

    .K&N induction kit

    .440 yellow injectors

    .3inch Exhuast

    .New TDO5 turbo

     

     

     

     

     

  17. The turbo reaches 0.7 bar which if I'm honest i don't understand but he said it should be reaching 1.2 or 1.3 so its failing to hold boost?

     

    Ive bought a 2nd hand TD05 from a breakers which I'm told is in good condition getting it shipped to the garage next day delivery so pray for me this sorts it out
