  1. Ok, so I think I have programmed a new code in. Lock, unlock, *17856*92*new code* new code# lock unlock with key fob But I have no way of knowing if it works, as I can't unlock with the key. Hopefully I can pick up another fob and code it back in. Thanks for all the help.
  2. Thanks Stants for the help last night, luckily my girlfriend loves me enough to relay the spare key to my dad, who then brought it out the rest of the way, first blip, turned the key no drama, however the first key appears to be FUBAR. Is the only way to get spare keys direct from Subaru? I'm now terrified that the second key is going to break and I will be stuffed, as a bonus the drivers door key barrel seems to be seized, so I can't lock or unlock the car should the event happen again, lots of wd40 and still no movement. Much annoyance at the moment. Thanks again.
  3. Thanks for the link, I had found the original post prior to pleeding on here, but alass no pin. Spare key is on its way, thanks to one irate girlfriend, I believe the words, "why did you buy such a stupid car" were used on the phone, so fingers crossed when it arrives every thing will work... Hopefully I've not broken anything with my attempts to get it working.
  4. No radio masts to be seen, what a pain, is it definitely a 4 digit number for the code? I'm tempted to call out the green flag, but my fear is I will just get towed to a garage and will still be miles from home.
  5. Hi Everyone, I'm having a miniature nightmare this evening. i currently cannot lock or start my SG 04 forester. i unlocked the car at work with the fob, drove to the dentists, 40 miles away (dont ask) when i got out i trird to open the boot, its a bit sticky, so locked and unlocked the car opened the boot, then when i went to lock it again, nothing. I left the car unlocked and went to the dentist, now im back at the car and i cant get it to start as the fob wont work, i borrowed a battery out a working key, but still no luck! I have all the hand books and the 8 digit key code card, but no idea what the 4 digit immobiliser code is. Has anyone had this problem before? I would try the spare key but its an hour and a half away at my house! Help.
  6. SG Forester 2.0XT MY04 Currently bog standard (as far as I'm aware) Last run to Glencoe and back I apparently returned 30mpg, my average is sitting about 27 Hilariously fast if you are in the right gear, and as mentioned above causes some looks of confusion when you put the boot down. Will update once I've done a few more miles.
  7. Thanks for the replies everyone, I've gone off the idea of having a saggy bum, as the car already has that. Stants, you have the pedders on your Forrester? Have you had any problems with them? I like the idea of a complete kit, fit and forget, however my concern is that I do a lot of mountainbiking, and quite often have a boot full of junk and 2/3 bikes on the towbar, I'm not sure if the pedders will cope withe the extra weight without sagging too much. Thanks again guys.
  8. Hey, I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience fitting Impreza WRX Prodrive suspension onto a Forester? Both Cars are MY04. I'm looking for a sensible drop that still keeps the car daily friendly. I have read that the standard WRX suspension parts from the MY04 should be interchangeable, but not sure about the prodrive stuff. The old SLS struts on the Forester are sagging so I am thinking of changing all round anyway, Cheers Swayze.

  11. Thanks for all the welcomes! I'm afraid this forum is going to feed an expensive addiction! Looking at new(second hand) tyres and rims to replace the winter ones on at the moment. Just need to do my research to check if ET48 215/40/17 will fit nicely. Exciting times!
  12. Thanks guys, yeah, I think a stainless job is on the cards, but I've got to get it through an mot next month. Think I'll take a punt on the ebay job, then once I'm happy the car is a keeper I'll go SS to complement my future tinkering. I'll pop up a post when it arrives. Cheers
  13. Hi all, I need a new back box for my "new" 04 XT 2.0 Turbo forester, does anyone have any recommendations? As you can see from the picture it has a small hole in it... Seen this on ebay, does anyone have any opinions? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Forester-2-0-2002-2008-exhaust-rear-silencer-3157-/221661697987?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&fits=Car+Make%3ASubaru%7CModel%3AForester%7CCars+Year%3A2004%7CPlat_Gen%3ASG%7CCars+Type%3A2.0+S+Turbo&hash=item339c1117c3 Thanks Swayze
  14. Sorry stupid tablet posted before I was finished, feel free to delete this one as the proper post is now complete. Doh, sorry.
  15. Hello everyone, Thought I would put up a quick post saying hello and giving some info on me and my car. I yesterday purchased an 04 plate Forester 2.0 XT, its in need of some TLC and some (hopefully) minor mechanical bits and pieces. The car feels solid, with no obvious issues I can see, other than the SPIKED winter tyres, drivers window that wont go down, and the huge hole in the back box. It drives well and takes off like a rocket if your wanting to embarrass people. Im going to be using the car as a daily driver, around 18miles each way of A & B roads as well as weekend trips mountain biking and dog walking, and possibly a run to the French Alps in the summer, so it will need to be kept running well. I've just come from a 2 litre peugeot 407 hdi (136bhp) which the clutch started to slip on, and was going to cost about the same as the forester to replace. So avoiding anything like that would be good. Anyway, the point of the message is ( and I no doubt will find the answers if I look hard enough) the car is due an MOT in about a month, so are their any typical issues I should look at before taking it to the MOT centre? Thanks for having me in your club, and I look forward to many years as a happy subaru owner. Swayze
