  1. wasnt the "friend" supposed to be joining the forum
  2. 21! had the gc8 for a year now!
  3. update: Ok so ive not been overheating anymore and ive been driving hard, no oil loss and the car has been smooth as butter bar the error code 24 which is the idle air control valve! So i changed the IACV and still no dice! then i went and took my old IACV gave it a real good clean and swapped the yellow idle adjuster over, no codes so far! I also found some oil around my camshaft sensor! must be from all my dodgey oil top ups cause of that leaking rocker cover LOL, well i gave that a good scrub and stuck it back in. SO, yesterday i had the greatest urge to check my spark plugs (Last time i checked they were covered in fuel!!) this time no wetness, but this is how they look ; i think that white crud is due to remains of injector cleaner in my fuel tank or am i mistaken ? is this a bad looking sprak plug or is it perfectly fine for out engines?
  4. guys i had a overheat again but this time i didnt lose heat:D, i noticed all my coolant on the floor this time, it was the bottom rad hose leaking! Well i thought id swap in the genuine thermostat and well, i snapped the bolt! after some heat and a torx socket, managed to get the thing off! ill add some pics in due time!! GOD BLESSES THIS EJ20 !!!!!
  5. Hmmm and does the car have an undertray? Sent from my MX4 Pro using Tapatalk
  6. i see, and do you daily it? does it standaround or na ?
  7. have you gotten your head under to check vs "checking for drips" ?
  8. check for oil leaks? check the rocker cover seal and the washers ? how many miles ya done ?

dont know if this is done, but if it isnt, let me start it off. WHEN THE SUBARU LADS ARE ON A RAVE AND THEY SEE THE EVO SQUAD.
  10. well, a little update, me being without the boost and that, i went to assess the cooling system on the car, the pipe to the overflow was blocked out with sludge, so i unblocked it and well, i bled the car filled her up again and went for a boost and that and wolla, no overheating. no bubbles in the overflow unless i squeeze the top radioator hose O.O. oh right, the ebay headers where really doing my head in on the up-pipe joint and the gasket just kept breaking so then i thought may aswell put the syms 4-2-1 manfiold on. these manifolds required me to jack the engine up from the tranny to clear the motor mounts and drop the subframe from the bolts and pry the subframe down slightly. i also helicoiled some weak manfiold studs with some help! i noticed the oil leak wasnt from the rocker covers but from the rocker washers, so i swapped them out! since i hit the downpipe from underneath during my very safe countryside runs O.O, i got the welder to cut the dented peice out and hammer it back out and weld it together, got him some 3" piping and we fitted the exhaust properly so that it wasnt hanging no more, also did a resonator delete :D these headers...they sound...amazing..............like legit WRC:D put some v5 silicone intercooler piping on my v4 one and it caused the metals of the intercooler screw and the clutch cylinder protector to rub, so i got this done: (PICTURE WILL BE HERE) The latest issue seems to be my IVAC which is on its last legs :D oh and 1 year later finally got some speakers and a HU in my scooby LOL
  11. The good news is that i pinpointed the leak and it was infact the crossover seals that where gone. THE BAD NEWS is that the car still overheats if i boost it hard all the way to redline, no redline no fun ;( therefore i have officially given up on this engine, i will take it out and place it to a side. as @savage bulldogs said looks like the pressure in the water is being cause by a HG leak or a cracked liner. its that time for a 2.35 stroker build ;) may take me like 5 years though LOL. I need all the help i can get again on part 2 of this facade :D:D:D:D. I want to keep my chassis rust free whilst its not moving, whats the best way to do this in an outdoor condition (I already have a car cover). also i need to do heavy research on engine building and drive-train/handing modification, can i have some pointers in the right direction? where to get reading? who to ask?
  12. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252708888991 Hurry up and buy it 😂😂😂😂
  13. Yoyoyo savs, when I got my Subaru no reg checker was working and I couldn't pull MOT up, I used a site which I need to look up in my email, PM me the reg of the mini and I'll run it through.
  14. I'm making the assumption that it's the19mm bolt that holds the calliper to the wheel hub. This is how I'd remove it. Turn the steering so you have a good view of the calliper bolt, find a flexible 1/2" ratchet. Find a normal good quality socket DONT use the multipoint sockets for old rusted bolts. Get the socket and hammer it on the boly, if you do it right and the bolt isn't slipping it should crack, if it doesn't use my technique. Wear some timerblands or worker boots with thick soles, slide under the car and get someone to hold the top of the ratchet on the bolt ensuring it's on straight, then rotate the ratchet so you have a good angle to wack it with your heels, this is a overpowered breaker bar, if you hear creaking you're doing good. If this doesn't work, get a gas bottle and hear the top of the bolt till it goes orange-red then try again. If the bolt has been rounded or messed up, you'll have to wack a smaller socket on the bolt and restructure it.
  15. After I fix this, I'm going to check for hydro carbons in the cooling system via MOST man. I mean the last time it happened was months ago, I've driven roughly 1k miles since then. Only happened recently again! May likely be a slow headgasket leak, but then again, my coolant is all clean from oil and so is my oil of water. The crossover seals where hard as plastic! I think the previous owner didn't change the seals as the block was a v6 one، so it had the 1 sensor coolant crossover and the loom is the two sensor crossover so he had to change it and he probably didn't change the seals!
  16. Worst case it's the headgasket BUT the car has cometic gasket and was a fresh redone head according to the previous owner. Looks like the crossover seals where never changed and they were brittle and covered in like algae. Gonna do my service aswell, so ordered helix 5-40, some Fuchs coolant, new inlet manifold gasket, crossover seals and rocker cover seal.
  17. ive also been thinking about my next build and its going to have to be a ej257 block, pinned and linered by alyn at as performance, then im going to destroke it to a 2.35 and throw in a 6 speed jdm sti
  18. alright LARGE update guys, been off the forum for ages but need to make a comeback!!! Turns out my juddering issues was infact the fuel pump, i dropped in a RCMS 340lph and all is good, ive joined the club @Scoobyghost @savage bulldogs. Now as i had an exhaust leak in my upipe my car was never boosting on point, well i fixed that with a genuine gasket and then the car started boosting hard!! Well guess what! its overheated twice, with a puddle of coolant near the water crossover pipe! i think my water crossover seals are leaking or one of the pipes which are holding coolant!! BUT OH MAN DOES SHE PULL! anyway time to rip the manifold off and get inspecting! also have a slight oil leak due to a leaky rocker cover rh!
  19. that seems off, according to the spec, the crank sensor seems way off. dont even have my damn multimeter so i cant even test the spare ones i have. if youre getting fuel pressure, checked for spark, and the crank sensor is okay, its either then a really bad short/bad ground or the timing may have slipped, bless us with your opinion @savage bulldogs please, dont go around buying parts for jokes!!! if the sensor is bad, the reading WILL be bad,
  20. If you be a ninja, there is no need to remove the sensors, the cam and crank sensors can be tested the same way! Go for it, takes no time to do at all. Sent from my MX4 Pro using Tapatalk
  21. I think I have a spare crank and cam sensor, but it should be easy enough to test the sensor to see if it's bad! Get your multimeter on ohms ASAP ;) Sent from my MX4 Pro using Tapatalk
  22. As the title suggests, any colour will be fine, but white will be appreciated. Thanks Sent from my MX4 Pro using Tapatalk
  23. I'm not sure about my suspension system, but I'm pretty positive it's stock, they seem clueless, can't believe it... Sent from my MX4 Pro using Tapatalk
  24. So I went for alignment, this is the first result: So I was happy rather in a weird way cause my car was going to feel better and actually go straight, the wheel went bent if I left it, was real annoying, guess what it was even worse after, the guy probably didn't put the steering in the middle, so I went back to complain and low behold, they did it gain for free, the result The steering wheel still goes a little to the left on bumps, very slightly, but my concern is the red box at the bottom, the guy assured me it was very minorly off and it would get better on a full tank of fuel (I call bs on this) Shall I go back and demand they put it to spec or is it very minorly off, to be honest I hate the place and the staff, and I'd rather not go back, just someone tell me how bad that offcamber will be. Thanks in advanced Sent from my MX4 Pro using Tapatalk
  25. Good work Clive, we're all proud of ya 😂 Sent from my MX4 Pro using Tapatalk
