  1. A few years ago I wrote THIS webpage about the Applied model codes. The company I wrote it for has since gone bust so the page may vanish from the web any day, so enjoy it while you can!
  2. Sorry, I fell asleep before I got that far down the list! Digit 5 is for the market where the car was sold, so look for that first to see if its an import. JDM cars have numbers, everywhere else it's a letter.
  3. That list is for JDM cars... Yours is a UK car as the K = "European and General market (right hand drive)" Its a UK Turbo 2000. As you already said, the H is for version 6. Edit... A few years ago I wrote This webpage about the Applied model codes. The company I wrote it for has since gone bust so it may vanish from the web any day, so enjoy it while you can!
  4. If it is valve damage due to having too much oil you could get away without having a full rebuild. It still wont be cheap as the engine will need to come out and the heads removed, but the bottom end could be left untouched. Depending on what has failed, it may then be easier to refurbish the heads or buy a set of replacements. Cost would be in the same area as having head gaskets done, plus the cost of head work or replacement on top.
  5. Do you have the Appled Model Code? They are much easier to figure out!
  6. Gearbox oil would be my first guess. Has the problem started since the oil change? If so, are you sure the correct type of oil has been used and it has been filled to the correct level?
  7. I love the photo of Beechey and the tank. You just know he wants to play!
  8. The P1 lights are very hard to find, but they do come in two flavours... Although they look identical you can have either normal fog lights of gas-discharge driving lights.
  9. Fitted a brand-new genuine Subaru centre exhaust section (inc catalytic converter) to my Legacy GL today. I didn't go out intending to buy said item as I know how much Subaru charge for exhausts and nobody makes aftermarket exhaust bits for non-turbo Subarus, I just wanted to put the car on a ramp to see if I could see the where it had starting blowing from, and maybe get it welded. However, the nice man at the exhaust shop give me a quote that was too good to be true... It seems he quoted for the wrong part, but he was true to his word and let me have it at the quoted price anyway. I'm not going to say what I paid, but my guess is it was less than half price and maybe as low as two-thirds off. He even fitted it for free! Quite a result so I'm a happy bunny today.
  10. Maybe you should think about changing your profile photo before asking things like that :p
  11. Can't just drop it in... The complex twin-turbo setup will require a GT-B ECU and full wiring loom, then you will need a new exhaust system to feed the turbos, then an intercooler and bonnet scoop... It would be a lot easier to buy a full GT-B car and fit Outback suspension and body kit etc to that. I think some in the USA has done that.
  12. Yes, OBD2.
  13. Andyvic... If I'm coming to look at your car tomorrow I'm going to need an address. Send me a Private Message with your details. What time is good for you? I'm going to have to head off between noon and 1pm so not so late that we can't talk, but not so early I'm still asleep!
  14. That's not a problem, I can talk about Subarus all day! Well, not quite all day as I'm going to visit TAG Motors after you, but certainly all morning :)
  15. Impreza 4-pot brakes from a classic STi will fit, you will just need to check they are not too big for your wheels... It looks like you have 16" so it should be OK. I have a couple of sets in my scrap pile I'll bring for you to check for size. Just don't fit them because they are in the scrap pile for a reason!
  16. Why would you want to mod what looks to be an original GL classic? Keep it standard and leave the modding to the turbos!! However, it looks like your original GL wheels are in good condition so should you think about fitting some 18" alloys, let me know as mine are badly corroded and I want to keep my GL standard. What sort of mods are you after? I'm sure I'll be able to point you in the right direction.
  17. Welcome to the multi-Legacy club!
  18. Pistons out of place? Well that's a new one on me. Did you talk to a mechanic or a sales man? Head gaskets are a routine job. The only reason it cost so much is because of the time required to remove and replace the engine. Don't let anyone tell you that you need a new engine because you don't.

Armadillo... One of the biggest advertising flops in history! Funny though :)
  20. Funny thing is, I had no interest in Subarus at all until I started dating a girl who owned a Legacy. We split years ago, but you could say the legacy continues!
  21. None taken. If it were a manual it wouldn't be for sale! Tlag has a yellow Gen2 estate (although it's off the road waiting a new engine at the moment) and Bip has a yellow Gen2 saloon, so you can get them but it was a limited edition colour and they are rare. Edit... Photo of the yellow ones here
  22. I bought two Legacys on the same day once... The white auto saloon that is for sale at the moment and a green auto estate. To be fare they were kinda part of a job-lot, but as the green one was mega high miles and ready for scrap I bought a replanement for it about a month later... That one was a blue manual. I then decided not to scrap the green one and kept it another six months. I need to buy different colour to keep track of them all! Throughout all of this I also had my silver GT-B, so for a while I had four of them.
  23. Deal hasn't been done yet, but I've been asked for more photos so I thought I'd share. Took these this morning before work, yes I know it need a clean and vacuum but time is against me!
