Th4neuk Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Hiya, Just been thinking about an obd11 scanner code thingy and wondered if I could get a Bluetooth dongle thing that would plug in? If I can get a app can maybe plug it in on the Stereo to keep an eye etc. saves having to drag the pc out to the car too? Has anyone done this and what dongle/ apps did you use? Cheers Alan
Gambit Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 I've got a PC built into my car and used a Bluetooth dongle to my OBDII Bluetooth sender, compared to the App on my phone or tablet it wasn't very good at all the data had about a full second delay on it :( not sure if it's because the PC is in the boot and the dongle in the PC isn't that great which made it slow. But what worked for me best was the Bluetooth sender from eBay and torque pro app on the phone.
Th4neuk Posted June 30, 2014 Author Posted June 30, 2014 Ta, Did you get any sender or a specific one? Cheers Alan
david1972 Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 I use the following: Kingmansion ELM 327 WiFi Wireless OBD2 scanner (currently £11.75 delivered on Amazon) and OBD Car Doctor - a free iphone app widely available on the app store Does the job nicely :) 1
Gambit Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 No it was just a 327 Bluetooth OBDII sender from eBay and the app. Was about £14 when I bought it their cheaper now :) 1

Th4neuk Posted July 7, 2014 Author Posted July 7, 2014 It arrived today so can check out if it will work :-)
Scooby Pete Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Got mine aswell. the iphone will connect to the reader but the app says nothings connected :(
david1972 Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Which app are you using? Sent from my iphone using Tapatalk
Scooby Pete Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 LogWorks. https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/logworks/id351896392?mt=8 There's no setting or anything in log works and it just won't connect even tried to connect manually and that still didn't work. It works fine with car doctor and I have downloaded a load of the free OBD2 apps to try out.
Th4neuk Posted July 9, 2014 Author Posted July 9, 2014 I did the car doctor one ans also bought the dashcmd which is quite nifty (gives you a dash readout through obd :-) Cheers Alan
Scooby Pete Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Bought the DashCmd app as its compatible with my Pioneer head unit. So I can get it on the screen rather than looking at the phone, and all the functions work on the touch screen :) only downside is I cant connect with my new iphone 5 as i have to by a new adapter :(

Shifty Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Hi Shifty - could you tell me which cable you ordered? Did it come from Amazon? Thanks Yes mate got this one and it works just fine http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390665706953?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 Just been playing and am a happy bunny.
ChrisD Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 So what info will i get from a cheap and cheerful elm 327 Bluetooth obd2? (from 2003 Blob Impreza 2.0 Turbo) in terms of real time data (running through android apps btw) (I say cheap and cheerful as the one i have seen from Subaru shops was around £100) Also is there an app to log the data to play back through RaceRender along side my Dash Cam vid, gps and G?
JusNoGood Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 I got one from eBay for £13....then £7 for the DashCMD app. You can configure your own dashes with any data you wish...RPM, MPG, oil temp, boost, speed, fuel rate, est BHP, gear change points etc. You can also log all the data and replay your trip. You can also read errors and reset them. I've found this very helpful...not so much the dashes...found them more of a gimick...but I'm a techie so I like to fiddle [emoji16][emoji15]
ChrisD Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 How do I record them and import the data into racerender?
JusNoGood Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 In Dashcmd you go main menu and start logging...not sure what you can use that for other than DashCmd
ChrisD Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Okay thanks anyway man :) what type of file does it save and where does it save it?
crimson Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Is it tacky to get the actual gages that hang from the door pillar ?Or is it best to get the app and put it though your phone ?What head unit allow the use of that app ? Thats rather cool
