Bought my Forester STi a few weeks ago. It's completely standard apart from the tow bar. It was imported in 2007 and was converted to mph by the dealer who imported it and has covered ~85,000 miles.

I'll be posting questions on where to get spares as it needs a replacement rear diff and rear shocks

Hello welcome, looks good [emoji51] try www.importcarparts.co.uk if your after genuine subaru stuff although some rear diff cost silly monet, not sure how much your cars share with the impreza of the same year but maybe worth a look into

Thanks, from what I understand the running gear will be the same as the Impreza STI. I'll be pulling the numbers off the diff once the festivities are over and I can get back to the important business of cars :)

Welcome to soc

Don't see enough sti fozzies imo they're a Lovely looking motor , nice choice [emoji106]

Easiest way to find the diff type and ratio would be to "google" the gearbox ty... number , it's located on a white sticker on the top of the gearbox near the bellhousing.

it will probably be a r180 type diff with either a uk or jdm ratio [emoji6]

Have you checked the diff oil level ?

or maybe try refreshing the diff oil with a quality oil of the right grade to see if it improves before buying a replacement .

Yep oil level checked, unsurprisingly it was very clean oil so I assume the previous owner tried the new oil trick to see if it cured it. Sadly not. I took it to a Subaru specialist in my local village who confirmed the diff issue and that the rear shocks are "shocking" (sorry couldn't help myself).

Wotcha and welcome - lovely motor you have there, sounds like a little cash investment will sort it for a fair few years to come

Welcome to SOC ;)

This will be my first choice if I needed more space.

Some of the suspension bushes are the same as the STI sedan`s.

Would you mind to post some pictures about the engine and from inside as well?
