I wasn't going to make a build thread as I didn't have big plans for the old girl but as my mind wanders I see me working on this car for years to come.

I bought her in December 2014 as a standard car with 158000 miles. Fsh and a lot of it from Subaru specialist. Just 2 owners so I knew it had been looked after and the paperwork confirmed it.

I did find a small pin hole in the radiator but that was a quick job. Old rad out new rad in and job done. No harm done.

The first real job was a service and freshen up. The cambelt was done 20000 miles ago but 6 years. The age was worrying me so that was done along with oil, air and fuel servicing. New water pump for good measure. The old one was in very good condition but changed none the less. post-3548-142668045511_thumb.jpgpost-3548-142668047072_thumb.jpg

I'm sure we are all the same. We want that Subaru burble. I was sadly lacking that due to the original exhaust still being in place. So I went about searching and found a lovely little system at a very good price. post-3548-142668085224_thumb.jpg

I did have to wait a few weeks before she went on but now I have my burble. Albeit pretty quiet but I still have the decat downpipe to go on.

post-3548-142668114584_thumb.jpgold system against New. post-3548-142668120243_thumb.jpgon and looking lovely.

Next jobs are new fuel pump and I'll have the panel filter ready for when I have it mapped. Should have added I have a 3 port solenoid ready to help control the turbo.

Future jobs are a bit of bodywork tidying up. Maybe adding a front splitter. Upgrading to an sti rear spoiler and possibly some 17 oz superleggeras in gold

looks good mate , looks forward to seeing how far the build takes you, and if you need any advice give us a shout :) i use a scooby worx 3 port on mine and cant fault it, why not loose the air box and get a cone filter if your getting a remap and then go maffless.

I'll have a chat with Duncan at race dynamix about going mafless. It's an idea. I get to excited with this and forget lots. The car is booked in to a local dyno centre Saturday. I'll update with the graphs.

Finished on the rollers a little while ago. 211bhp standard, all I have changed is a 3" cat back with resonated centre and rear box. Made 234bhp and 231ft-lb. Dead chuffed! She done well for an old girl. I'll put the graph up a bit later.

You know in all honesty. I haven't had a good run or a quick pull away yet since having exhaust done. Or at least that's what I think gave it the extra 23 ponies. Mad to think just changing one small part gave me that much extra. I'm not sure what she was running before exhaust change. Wish I'd checked really.

Next dyno run will be with Duncan and that'll be with panel filter, decat and remap.

Posted this in another thread but for anyone that missed it, I'm also after this design.

Duncan said I'd need another ecu to run mafless. That's not an option right now. Not sure if I need to swap the up pipe just yet.

About the cone filter. I'm not so sure about that after behind advised against it and seeing a few horror stories. What difference is it between a free flowing panel and cone filter? Cost is another thing.

I've just ordered an rcm fuel pump, pump cover gasket, turbo back exhaust gaskets and the final piece is the intake upgrade. I'm booked in for remap on 16th April. I'm getting lost and confused if I've already said all this [emoji38]

Well, a massive thank you to Roger Clarke Motosport. I ordered my fuel pump last night at 6:30 and its at my door by 8:30 this morning. Unbelievable turn around. post-3548-142684064163_thumb.jpgpost-3548-142684066081_thumb.jpg

Now I have to wait for the cover gasket to arrive from the states [emoji38]

Nice gains from a zorst there bud [emoji106]

Nice n quiet on the dyno as well, mine made my ears bleed [emoji19]

My old 97 uk made 265 hp with sports cat , sti tmic and k&n pannel with resonator delete , so you should see something like that I'd imagine .

Thanks savage. Did you have a remap on that too?

I went for a cosworth panel in the end. In my head I have 270 as a hopeful figure and considering how well she did already I think that's achievable. I'd hope to get the power to come in a little earlier but the torque is nice and flat and the dyno fella commented saying it was a nice strong torque line. [emoji4] [emoji1]
