timmyjk7 Posted September 24, 2015 Author Posted September 24, 2015 Thanks guys... As I am no mechanic I am going to let TGM who are a motorsport specialists have a look Monday. I am hoping its either a clogged cat or a faulty boost solenoid. I will let you know the outcome .... good or bad!
Xander Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Good luck man hope it's a simple fix. -- I make Films, Websites and social media for people
Tidgy Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 How much experience do they have with subarus?
timmyjk7 Posted September 28, 2015 Author Posted September 28, 2015 How much experience do they have with subarus? even though they are mainly a Honda specialist they build and run their own race cars and have done several front cover Impreza's. They also work closely with Surrey Rolling Road who have a specialist so i am confident of their abilities to resolve. On a separate note the car passed emissions at the weekend so that clears the CAT, next is MAF
timmyjk7 Posted September 29, 2015 Author Posted September 29, 2015 So it appears the issues ARE with the CATS. I am just trying to rally around to get the two decat pipes before Thursday so they can be fitted in time for racedynamix to tune on Friday
Scoobyghost Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Do you know how the cats have failed? Weird how they pass emmisions but are actually fubard.
GMInsite Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Where is the primary cat? I have a decat downpipe from the turbo and i guess the other is in the up pipe?
kershaw-330s Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Only one on sti I think Sent from my iphone using Tapatalk
Xander Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 No cat in the up pipe on the hatchbacks. -- I make Films for businesses and people. I also make websites.
Scoobyghost Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 How did you pass emmisions with a decat? [emoji15]
GMInsite Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 So where is the cats on the wrx? one on the downpipe and other in the mid pipe?
stants Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Prob same way as you did ghost [emoji38] 1
Xander Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Think it's only one in the downpipe total on wrx might be 2 both in the same place. You should be able to see under the car I remember seeing one. -- I make Films for businesses and people. I also make websites.
Scoobyghost Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Prob same way as you did ghost [emoji38][emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23] Don't know what you're talking about. [emoji9] [emoji9] If you don't have one on uppipe the only cat will be in the down pipe. If that's decat then you would fail an emissions test.
GMInsite Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Who needs an MOT if you do not live in the country?
Scoobyghost Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Ah, I keep forgetting about that. I had a quick look and it seems you have two cats post turbo. One in downpipe and one directly after that.
GMInsite Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Im fully decatted then :) I have no clue why mine seems sluggish then, its got a uprated fuel pump / full exhaust / intake / uprated intercooler etc
kershaw-330s Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 The sti only has one in down pipe Sent from my iphone using Tapatalk
timmyjk7 Posted September 29, 2015 Author Posted September 29, 2015 But the STI has a catted uppipe surely?
kershaw-330s Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Nope Sent from my iphone using Tapatalk
Xander Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Think they stopped the catted up pipes after the cats fell apart and got sucked into the turbo. -- I make Films for businesses and people. I also make websites.
timmyjk7 Posted September 29, 2015 Author Posted September 29, 2015 I have learnt something new today :)
timmyjk7 Posted October 1, 2015 Author Posted October 1, 2015 So decats have been installed and power seems to have improved from 2-3.5k rpm but then dies which we think is down to it now needing a remap. The dash then went like a Christmas tree with all the lights including the MAP and Boost sensor error message but the garage reset this and they haven't come back on. i am hoping the decats have corrected the boost issue and with the remap it will go back to how it is was. The final final issue is now the stupid noise this car makes.... i sound like a wannabe rally driver.
Scoobyghost Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 The lights will come up because your decat will be allowing higher uncontrolled boost. The sensor expects some back pressure and there isn't any now.
stants Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 And the 2ndary O2 won't have a value it can work out
