HI All,

Finally I have made the plunge, I have been tempted for a long while with this gen of Subaru. I have had the car about 2 weeks now and already started doing minor bits (lights, air filter etc).
So I just have a few questions with being new and everything.

Is there any easy to do bits which are common place amongst the owners club?

Can anyone point me in the direction of a owners club and meet in the east midlands?

Does anyone have this exact car and has had any issues which are common and I may encounter?

Any advice with bringing the dishwasher finish out of the paintwork? Whoever had it before me really loved car washes....*sigh*

Thanks in advance for any responses, I have put a few images below of the car (don't have many spent too much time driving it!)
(Car has done 28k and one car wash owner from new then to me)

Welcome!

Sigh indeed! You can find dozens of polishes to do it, Meguiars is pretty good though and I use G3's range which is nice.  Tbh if the whole car is like it it might be worth looking into getting it mopped!

Plenty of hatch owners on here with experience to share.

Have a look at the recent thread below, it might be of interest re Midlands owners.

Hello & welcome, must say the hatches are growing on me [emoji106]

Welcome. Where about's in derbyshire? I'm up Ripley way.

First thing, run it on Vpower or tesco 99 only. Nothing else.

Oil changes every 5k

If a fault pops up or its not driving right, don't try to drive through it, get it checked out and if you have to drive it keep it off boost and under 3k rpm. You can do more damage if you try to push when its not running right.

Keeps up with servicing and maintenance

Fuel wise I am lucky enough to have a Shell round the corner from me which is a bonus.

I'm out Findern way, south Derbyshire. Sad thing is I'm in Jersey the First Sunday of next month so I won't be in town for the east Mids meet :(

Oil changes, yes Deffo. What Brand of Oil would you recommend? I did use Castrol with the car I had before.

Under 3 Grand with issues, gotcha. And Services and Maintenance is a must with this

Thanks for that :)

Thanks for that :) Will have a look for some of that Polish, and that thread is helpful!

Cheers mate :)

Welcome. I have a wrx hatchback basically the same car but yours has had the pro drive treatment giving it some extra power and some nice trim from factory. However pro drive dident go nuts you will have about 250hp I think from factory a custom map and exhaust will take it to about 270 and put it on par with the STI's due to weight.

What are you goals with modding the car?

Nice to see another hatch on here :-D

i;ve not had much to do with mids for many years now. not what it was.

Alot of saturdays owners meet up for a social up at scoobyclinic at chesterfield.

welcome to the club, always good to see more hatch owners,i had 07 wrx hatch and now have 08 wrx hatch,as @Tidgy said dont put crap petrol in it i allways use shell vpower,a good easy upgrade is a good aftermarket panel filter, regualar oil changes wont hurt it,if your going to upgrade power at all i would concider upgrading the intercooler as its a week link on the wrx and wrx's,very small and very thin and the end caps are plastic and bonded on and can leak.if your not good with a power polisher then may pay to have a profesional give it a good polish, nice car by the way

Cars looking good mate. I get my service parts from opie oils. I've been using Fuchs Titan race oil with a k&n performance oil filter which is changed every 5-6000 miles or every year which ever comes first. Check their website and give them a ring. They are very helpful. Also ask for a discount code when your on the phone to them for when your checking out online
