Just saw this on the impreza group on facebook, !Removed! hell if its true thats ridiculous!!

Hi everyone, don't post on here that much but just like to know what people think of my latest visit to Scoobyclinic.
I took my RB320 for its service which was quoted at £262. Whilst it was there I asked them to fit my my new discs and pads all round which I supplied myself. I was told it would be approx £55+vat to fit them. About 5 hours later they told me they snapped a caliper bolt and I was going to get the car back the next day. 5 days later and with no update from them except when I called them to be told it's in the process of being done I got a call to pick the car up. When I got there I got a bill for £1217 and was told it was because they snapped 3 bolts. I was absolutely shocked and they never rang me to say they were having trouble with the bolts and the cost was mounting. So what I'm asking is, is it fair to charge for all that time they spent it have they overcharged for the job? Bare in mind the service was included in the final price but that makes roughly £800 to fit brake discs and pads all way round.

Oh God @Tidgy will be along shortly  He might shine more light on it as I believe there is two sides to every story, and I think it's important to not take a bias view on any company myself. But anyone using any company or mapper I'd say it's always good to google them all before using them.

yeh I am not sure its true, i asked him to put his receipt on facebook and he said he will when he gets home

Caliper bolts are only about 15 quid a pair

Like whats been said theres always two sides to a story but surely this is a bit **** poor if true for a company to charge for bolts THEY broke not the customers fault they broke them, dont get me wrong i'm a mechanic in an hgv workshop and sometimes you break things but we would never charge for our fook ups we get a bollocking and work our time back for the lost labour cost after all thats quite a good incentive to do the job right first time round

The garage I use always contact me for things like this - quick phone call to say they have found something how to proceed plus an approx cost to fix - looks like they will have included a load of labour to remove sheared bolts, repair threads etc - which may well have been the right solution but as we say in consultancy - never surprise the customer

he posted up a copy of the receipt aswell, 800+ in labour.

The thread on facebook has hundreds of comments as well. Hopefully someone from the clinic see it and offer the companys side of the story.

As said above, all my garage do if there are problems is ring me and advise of what they can do and what it will cost etc.

Don't matter who it is, you cannot just up a bill by hundreds of pounds without first consulting the customer, a receipt does not prove anything either way tbh tho as no one knows if this work was ok'd or not beforehand, could be malicious feedback or could be totally true, hopefully time will tell and the guys at the clinic will respond, from reading up on them I would expect a response tbh as they usually do try and clear it up

Yeah that takes the **** he something similar with Mrs old car where they couldn't get something out so needed a special tool , I got billed for the tool !!

Sorry but you need the tools to undertake the job , plus their maths of near 20 hours any decent garage would say just replace  at a certain point

I had the sistersinlaws car mot'd and repaired by a garage years ago, went to pick it up and paid and then found a bit of welding they hadn't done, showed them and they said, ah don't worry bout it........ i stood there and made them do it before I left 😡

Heard summit about it but not been up to ask what cracked off. I suspect there's a whole lot more to it than is being said. Always is. I'll see what i can find out.

yep as suspected there is a whole lot more to it than is being said. Usual 'expert' crew of houghy and hammond stirring the pot with half stories and picking a choosing what info to bother to read or understand. leave em to it.

Those " specialists " lol
