Hi again people my old man has since brought an estate with a apexi boost controller but it makes a nasty clicking noise when you turn the ignition on and when you put your foot down what is this can we sort it or take it out,  also there are no hoses on the boost solenoid i think its called, is that right? i might wrong but surely there should be right

Any idea what model it is ?

Are you getting any other readings on the display ? Some of them do boost, rpm and other functions, if not getting any read out may not be wired up correctly ?

I'd trace the vacuum pipes back from actuator or outlet from the turbo as they should be attached to a boost solenoid , as it might have a apexi one installed in a different position and just unplugged the oe one

i have an after market boost controller and the standard unit is still there but not plumbed in

if its an aftermarket one are you sure A. you don't have a manual boost controller or B.yours doesn't have the option of changing the cars boost inside of the vehicle ?

Me? Sorry when I said aftermarket I meant a manual boost controller, the standard unit is still on the suspension turret but only the manual one is plumbed in

No matey the topic starter :)

Oops, ok sorry lol

Im not sure of model can find out it has 2settings a.75.   B1.0.    I have taken 2pictures one of the original solenoid and one of wats on the end of the apexi wiring how do i upload the pictures

that's probably bar setting, so one is low boost .75 and the other is considered high 1 bar, which is probably why its not hooked up to the boost solenoid as it will have an internal one, do you know if the car has been mapped for those settings ?

Photobucket is what I use, simple and free, I think there's a guide on here somewhere but I'm on my phone so would take all night to find it lol

O sweet yer i dont think it is mapped no. Its also got a front mount intercooler but as far as i no it hasnt been mapped

if its not mapped for 1 bar then you car will run too lean and chances of you breaking your engine are high.

Ill send pics in a min but yer he wants to take it all out put back original i just hate the clicking noise lol

If it's not been mapped I'd either put it back to standard or get a mapable ecu .cos as ash said the standard ecu will only compensate fueling for minor mods and with a fmic and boost controller your probably pushing your luck I'm afraid .

What year / model is the wagon fella ?

This thread helped me understand the vacuum pipe route on my scoob when I switched from 2 port to 3 port boost solenoid as it has some useful diagrams

Yr were. Go back to standard just talkin on the phone with him its a p reg the wrx estate

Is that not the original one on the right of the 2nd picture that's not wired up ?

both them pics look like the original unit, the left looks like the wiring for the original unit and the right looks like the unit itself

this is the standard 2 port

and this is the more desirable 3 port

the apexi unit has a square block where the pipes come from not round

The picture on the right is the original one but is it still wired up bust no hoses? And the picture on the left is all the wiring from the apexi one, so if i follow the hose from the acuator should this go to an apexi boost solenoid?
