I'm going back to the speccy days of codemasters leisure suit Larry, and dizzy games. Then the original Colin McRae rally and Toca series. The games were so much better back in the days when you get the impression the developers were writing the games they wanted and enjoyed playing rather than all these corporate cash generating licences they produce these days.

I work as a consultant in the construction industry mainly with Health and safety and legal compliance. Sounds a bit dull on face but I get to go into all sorts of odd places, nuclear plants, oil and gas terminals, prisons and rail works, even been underneath the streets of London on a tunnel boring machine. Lots of travelling and some places I go are pretty poor roads which is why I bought the XV. Down side is really dull meetings in Central London talking about dull stuff. Can't complain though

Used to be an accountant. Got sick of it and decided office work wasn't for me. Tried to get into a mechanic apprenticeship but couldn't take the pay hit. Then over 3 years ago my brother in law got an opening at his work to become an electrician. Been doing that since.

It has its good and bad days, prefer it to being an office worker though.

Codemasters isn't a family company any more but in the hands of investors, people with no knowledge about games but only want their invested money back... this broke the whole company IMHO

A familiar story in a lot of companies - the profit not the product becomes the focus

I work as a health and social care inspector and have done for the last 2.5 years. Previous jobs include team manager, project analyst, audit officer and prescribing analyst. Nothing exciting, but there you go...pays the bills

When i left school i went to uni to study computer and network engineering. After i graduated i started working in a local school as a IT tech but loved the networking side of things and now i work on the Railway as a Telecoms Engineer and i get to travel the county. At my company we are getting involved with some of the "newer" technologies that are still quiet old as well as some good old telecoms stuff. its very varied work as no two area are the same so keeps us busy.

Work for Jaguar Land Rover in power train development.  Main role is emissions testing vehicles on a 4wd Dyno.  Had quite a few different jobs but seem to have got stuck here but the pay's alright to be fair.. and a move up would mean a drop too.  More responsibility less money... makes sense!
